John Fruciante bailed and never called 911 then Riv called out to Depp that he was dying Depp then kicked River out of the club and also never called 911. Lots of jelly people surrounded sweet Riv that night I wish I was there to save him. I would give my life to bring him back. I love River deeply his family dishonor him by not telling the truth sorry if I offend anyone but I feel River had a light around him unlike the rest of his family. ...too pure for this gross universe.

You have the story misconstrued a bit. He DID have the lethal amount of cocaine and heroin in his stomach cavity, and there was no other indicator that the drugs had entered his system, except thru ingestion. Please don't just throw out things without knowing the full context.

Fortunately for all of us, he was already a "huge actor" -- at least talentwise. His last spectacularly fine movie was "My Own Private Idaho," -- which I commend to the viewing of any who haven't seen it. It's a masterpiece in its own right, and River was largely responsible for making it that.

One thing I can tell you before even watching this video, is that Flea was friends with River, and that River died at The Viper Club, which Johnny Depp owned, or co-owned, or whatever. Since I've started watching, I'll say that River was not "on his way" to being a star...he WAS a star.

I don’t know if I think that he personally tried to kill him obviously. I mean anything is possible all the theories of it being Halloween and sacrifices, and all that craziness. But again, I just don’t know how he was able to walk without any consequences whatsoever- if the drink information is accurate - and with the amounts of each drug that was in that drink. This does not appear to be accurate information, he did not abstain in Utah- he used drugs the night before filming his last scene before returning to LA from Utah -his Director confirmed, and same with Judy Adams she was working with him.

samantha mathis saying that river was on drugs when he entered the viper room is nothing but false information. river wasn’t a drug addict. he had a substance abuse problem. there’s difference. the only reason he ever went to the viper room was to look after his little brother and play music. he went to the stage with his guitar and flea told him that he can’t play. river went back to the booth where his siblings and girlfriend sat. he was clean. the drugs he overdosed on were provided to him by a friend in a blue plastic cup. river didn’t go to the bathroom and snort/ inject an EIGHT TIMES LETHAL dose of heroin and cocaine just because he wasn’t permitted to play his guitar that night. it infuriates me that there are people who view him as some sort of junkie when in reality he was nothing like that.
no needle marks were found on his arm and no signs in his nose to indicate that he had been snorting cocaine. the only way for the drugs to have entered his body was for him to have swallowed them.
he made the stupid but innocent mistake to trust a friend and that was what led him to his death.
Who ever wrote the script for this video badly paraphrased what mathis had said. She said he was high that night BUT that he hadn’t taken drugs that had killed him until he was inside of the viper room. Which is true.
She wasn’t implying he was high before they entered the club. That would make no sense since two of them were supposed to go back to the hotel nikko. She originally stayed in the car thinking he was just gonna drop his siblings off so there was no point for her to get out of the car.
Forrest is either blatantly lying or misremembering the dates. I have no doubt phoenix and frusciante binged on drugs just not in october of 1993. That more likely happened in late 1992. Phoenix was still in new mexico on october 27th and him and mathis drove back to la. On 28th he had lunch with his agent and on the 29th he was reportedly so sick his agent had to cancel the meeting he had with a director for an upcoming project. What’s important to note is that on friday when he was sick he was at hotel nikko since his agent was able to contact him by calling his room, so he wasn’t at frusicantes house. There were also high amount of sudafed (ephedrine) in his system so he most likely was sick. We can speculate that maybe JF came to hotel nikko and they binged there but river and samantha had a connecting room with the director of dark blood george sluzier and i think he would have heard if they were getting high.

no it doesn’t,not at all. sometimes shit just happens, even when we don’t mean for it to happen and he was struggling with drug use anyways previously for a while, he didn’t even mean to take that much and he just happened to overdose because his body couldn’t handle it. please stop with the conspiracies and extra stuff and just let him rest.

Just as many people in their teenage years are warned about smoking, vaping, chewing tobacco, that it's a bad idea to start, they start, anyway. People know that there are thousands of deaths from drug overdose, all the time.
Most people who start any of these habits tend to regret it. Many people, even when they see the terrible effects on their health, find it so difficult to quit.
Even after they have seen someone dying an agonizing death, get a diagnosis of their own, they can't or won't stop. Chemical dependence is a self-created prison.

@@Johnnyrocks34 I would say that I have secondhand experience with addiction. Having seen the effects of addiction on others, I avoided it. When I was in school, I was told over & over that I was not part of the "cool crowd" because I didn't smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol. I remained "uncool" anyway.
When I went to my 10 year High School reunion a couple years ago, I saw the effects on the "cool crowd" in their health, in their appearance. Many of them regretted that they ever started smoking & drinking, yet, found it difficult to stop.
My father's family were mostly alcoholics, all of them smoked or used other forms of tobacco. My parents & 2 of my brothers smoked a lot. I had the stench of cigarette smoke on my clothes even though the clothes were clean. I saw my father, his relatives and even my brothers puking after a drinking binge. I took care of them, tried to get them to at least stop drinking so much. They insisted they would, they never did.
I LOVE my brothers! It hurt like hell to see them do this to themselves as young as 12. One of my brothers died very young, the other one has numerous health problems related to smoking & drinking.
Both of my parents died very young. My mother was the youngest of 5 children, the first one to die. The same goes for my father.
Steering clear of any chemical or behavior related addiction is a personally adopted life choice, I live it that way.
NOT that I am better than anyone at all. My desire to be healthy prevails over everything I do.
When I took road trips with people who had to have 1 - 3 cups of coffee in the morning just to function & not have brain fog, the shakes or be REALLY crabby? It only cemented my resolve to never be chemically dependent on coffee or caffeinated substances. Because I was repeatedly molested, as a child, by a guy who had really strong coffee breath, it gave me a strong repulsion about coffee.
Recently, in the small town where I live, there was *ONE* doctor that most people used for their medical needs. When that doctor encountered some personal problems, could no longer practice medicine, the people in the small town (pop 900) seemed to be going to hell in a handbasket!
The dynamics of a small town is that the closest medical facility is 80 - 100 miles away. The people could not get their prescriptions filled. They were really losing their minds without their meds.
I am no better than these people, no worse, just choose to remain medication free. No prescription meds at all. On rare occasions, I may need a tylenol or PMS relief. Not often, just occasionally.
Seeing these people suffer as they did, I wanted to help. I was helpless to do anything for them, it was heart breaking for me. I had to excuse myself to break down in tears & sobs where they couldn't see or hear me. It bothered me that much.
It also strengthened my resolve to abstain from any addicting chemical substance including prescription meds.

@@FreeSpirit47 thank u for sharing that. My story is different. We came here from ireland when i was 3. All growing up at every party all i saw was people drinking. Every family party was a shit show. And friends i grew up w we all started drinking at 13. I was around it my whole life. I wish i was as smart as you but i wasnt. My daughter is 9 and has never seen me drink. Me and my wife never drink. She sees us have fun without drinking

I do have a glass of wine or champagne occasionally. Just to participate, I started a 4 sip rule with myself. 4 sips, then, no more.
Learned behavior is one of the most difficult habits to change.
I don't know you, yet, I want to say that I am so proud of you for recognizing the problem then acting on it!

That is NOT correct. He immediately went into the “shakes” as the coke heavy lines he’d done outran the smack in the mixture. Speedballs are very sensitive to a ratio, and both coke and H were far in excess of what he could metabolize. Free morphine was like 7ng/ml and coke in his stomach was 100mg. I thought Rio was so hot. I was only a year younger than him almost to the day (Aug 23, 25). I first saw him in “Stand By Me” and was hooked UNTIL he died. When it came out he was on drugs,(he stated he didn’t even like to take aspirin) my love for him ended. It’s sad tho that the world lost a wonderful actor.
