One of the best things about sudden dessaster is the diversity of civs that get played. Randomly banning 15 civs before each drafts means you don't keep seeing the same civs and matchups like you do in most S-Tier tournaments.
Sudden dessaster was incredible. One of the best tournaments in the last year. It was always close because of the 1 tc limit, so many ways you can come back, so many new strats. We need more of it. At least twice a year. Can even do team dessaster.
Really cool about Guki doing so amazing, both cause it's a female player and because she's 15, hopefully she'll get far! Maybe she'll sign up for Warlords or Redbull qualifiers
Story-wise, aM disbanding feels really huge, like it ends the biggest rivalry Age of Empires has ever known. In reality however it probably does not change much. It's not like aM was an organisation that paid their players, it was "just" a clan. Which begs the questions...which orgs are still invested in AoE2? GL of course, mYinsanity aswell. Someone else?

@@NiliAoE2 I thought they confirmed 1M downloads, not players. I had a theory that the 2 are not the same. But if they confirmed actual 1 M players, then it's great.
Love to see you! Allow me to correct you, 0:20, you don’t necessarily start with only one TC, on some maps you get more than one. But the concept that you can’t build others and you lose when they are destroyed remains.

In Argentina it is very rare not to know or have not played Aoe. It is a game that we adopt as part of our culture, the only game with more fans must be CS2.
ok Nili, your reason why it shouldn't be a game mode in S tier is weak tho, why would claim this would be a difficult concept to grasp when we have regicide? essentially the same idea but related to a unit instead of a building. plus we always have time to explain the maps between games in those tourneys
Basically the era ended when Nili and Jordan left GL (and retired from streaming). It ended the rivalry, the banter, the story... Hera is not as entertaining in teamgames with GL as Jordan and Nili were - but obviously the best player in the world, he is in his own league. So it was logical for aM to disband - they can still train together, but join other teams that fit their timezones better. Maybe some newcomer team will someday be able to challenge GL, but I doubt it.

Minor correction: Sudden Dessaster while it is Sudden Death there are several maps where you start with multiple TC's I believe.
