Ok. The LA metro system started in 1990 when the movie came out. The movie took place in 1997. While filming and even while scouting for a filming location, the Predator 2 production crew would have known a metro system is on the way. Some of the LA metro were operational in 1990 before Predator 2 came out. Predator 2 was a nice thanksgiving movie for the whole family and parts of the metro were going before Thanksgiving 1990.
I do like seeing regular Predator content on this channel. Please continue with more. An analysis of the Rage War trilogy by Tim Lebbon would be interesting, too.
Amusingly enough, it didn't when Predator 2 was in production, the metro cars and stations are all mock ups. You would see the real LA metro in the movie "Speed", two years after Predator 2's release.
Considering that this comic book took place in New York, I shocked that the Yautja didn't end up killing mafia guys. Great video, and keep up the good work.
His voice songs like one of those private investigators from the 60s and I like it a lot very enjoyable I love these content so much LOL can't wait for another video
not only do I like the idea of you bringing in predator content, I like the idea of you reading whatever sci-fi comics you take an interest in! There's a lot that fits into 'alien' content that isn't related to the franchise. Personally, I'd like to hear you read parts of 'war of the worlds' or 'weird tales', I'm not sure if that much of a departure would suit the audience, but I'd say it still fits under the idea of 'alien theories'.
I think the movie being set in L.A. is representative of it's time - the late 1980's. During the 80's, L.A. was the go-to place for action movies. New York had it's day in the 70's (and would again in the 90's and 2000's) but the 80's belonged to L.A.. There was something mystical about the place, somewhere most in the country, including myself, had never seen and would probably never see. I grew up 50 miles NW of NYC in the 80's and it was no big deal. L.A., on the other hand, was some magical wonderland where all the cool action happened, it was almost Hollywood in itself. It just seemed to be in another world of it's own.
My father has this comic and I remember looking at it when I was a kid. I knew it wasn't the same as the movie but wasn't sure why. Thanks for the video!
Yes LA has a subway system. Scenery, it could have been NYC, but I like the LA cop drug lord setting. Please do more Predator videos so you can do Predator vs. Robocop
I searched for this after the last Schaeffer video. I loved it but couldn't stop reading Schaeffer's superior in the voice of Capt. Trunk from the Sledge Hammer comedy series. Probably because Schaeffer's partner Rasche shares the same last name as the actor who portrayed Hammer. I did think the garish look of the gang Schaeffer teams up with looked more LA than New York. But that's about it.
In the movie P2, the Predator got injured. He heard the local discussed about medical bill in the US, and decided to try alternative medicine using concrete instead.
Yeah, you should expand into related universes like Predator and even Terminator. Will mix things up and give you more content to review. You don't even have to change your channel name since the Aliens and Predators are...well...alien. Terminator is sci-fi, so its a good niche add on.
Well since NYC is in the Atlantic and LA is in the Pacific, LA would tend to have a higher temperature and gang wars there on a street level were more prevalent in the 90s than in NYC so setting the film in LA makes way more sense.
The problem i had with Predator 2 was that the world of the movie was.............just to comical. too over the top. It was like the world of "last action hero" and "demolition man." I wish they would have kept it somewhat more realistic.
switch from NYC to LA was probably due to climate. LA is quite a bit more hot than NY, and the movies made a big deal about about the preds being drawn to heat and conflict.
I don't really care about the change from NY to LA but it would have been nice to see Schaefer fighting a Yautja through some buildings and gang members. Predator 2 is a pretty good movie though.
Why does everyone say the Predators skin people "alive?" Do they actually know it happened while they were still alive? It could have happened after they were killed, and likely did so.
Probably because traditionally when someone was flayed alive the were hung upside down. This kept the blood flowing to the brain and kept them concious longer. Predator victims who have been flayed have been shown hung upside down.
They say it, but how would they know it? When the audience sees them before, the Predator usually just kills them before they're skinned and hung. There's typically no one left alive by that point.
Well I think the first time you see skinned corpses is when we see Jim Hopper and his men, whom you never see alive prior. Billy determines there was a fire fight and most likely was able to track where they were killed... There probably wasn't any blood splatter apart from the skinning itself which leads them to conclude they were "skinned alive". The line "they were skinned alive" is most likely just said in Predator 2 as a homage or throwback to the first movie.
Most of the comic books of the alien and predator universe are way better than most of the movies I mean fox really needs to pay attention to all of the comics.
Jimmy Grey lol god you're right don't remind me they really could have done so much better the first AVP had some good moments but a good movie no sadly
They should have made the movie much more like the comic, I like predator 2 but if the would have stuck more to the source material i think we could have enjoyed it more.
Honestly, why go astray from the comics in the first place? these changes seem really trivial and doesn't enchant the story in any way. Justin like with Earth war comics
Predator 1 is the better movie, but I enjoy predator 2 more for the setting in the city plus it seems to have even wackier characters. Voodoo gang, keyes
LA was a fine change. The different is the main character. Danny Glover's character wasn't interesting nor did he come across as a badass. When making a movie involving fighting toe-2-toe with a predator they need to be strong willed fighters. In every predator story they are strong willed fighters with the exception of AVP and Predator 2. Remember 'Predators' the yakuza fought melee 1v1 which is one of the best examples of honor and a strong willed fighters.
My preference is to leave the Predator series to itself and just feature the Alien franchise with the only exception being Alien vs Predator from time to time. 🙋

Are you sure about the first half of that last sentence
@@frood801 "Predator 2 was a nice thanksgiving movie for the whole family" I approve this message. Predator for 2020
Joseph Massaro Do you think the Yautja have universal healthcare?
@@bigmcdick4916 everybody gets a medkit, so... kinda?
Audio books of the Alien novelizations with you as narrator? I'd pay for that.
I'd Buy That For a Dollar!
*cough* Sorry, Robocop flashback. :)
I never, ever knew that Predator 2 drew influences from a comic. Wow. You learn something new everyday. Thank you.

True, but remember, Predator 2 takes place in the future year of... 1997... so it was likely they knew about the plans to make the subway.
@@ELPMCFlashFrame not only the plans, all the tunneling under the city would be hard to miss if it opens only a year after P2 release.

I personally really liked Predator 2 and I think the city change was alright.
The Predator went to LA for In and Out burgers
Dan St-Fernando hell yea🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
It did hide out in a meat packing plant, so yeah, probably just working its way up the supply chain.

Very intriguing. You have the perfect voice for narration, you need to become a professional.
City Hunter was really awseome and badass when the Predators was taking him to the ship after he died was really great scene in the movie
Shawn Thompson They are also brothers

MORE PREDATOR PLEASE!!!!!!!!! These are so awesome to watch. Excited to see what's next!
Always enjoy your content on predator and alien. Great work.
i love that you are expanding to the other creatures in the universe of aliens, talking aobut the predators
LA does have a subway system, however it doesn't go to Long Beach as shown in the film, the Long Beach metro is a light rail system
Great video and yes I would love to see more Predator Comic videos on your channel
Awesome content!!! Cheers from Argentina and Chile!!!!
read this comic a couple months ago. holy crap its something else. schaeffer literally takles the yautja multiple times in hand to hand.
Great video series. Keep it up
Weyland Yutani
Long live alien theory. You deliver what the people want!
My father has this comic and I remember looking at it when I was a kid. I knew it wasn't the same as the movie but wasn't sure why. Thanks for the video!
"City Hunter" well thats a pretty cool joke and would be an amazing crossover.
Also : WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE!!
I like your channel, as I've never read the Dark Horse comics and find it fascinating as hell.
Thank you for the predator video. I think I only asked you a day or 2 ago and I would love you to do more of them. Great stuff.
Fairly massive coincidence for the two brothers to encounter Predators within years of each other isn't it?
That was cool. I liked the predator work. Good job I was entertained thank you.
Great video, can't wait to see more!
Love the vids man , keep it up !!!
I do think more predator content would be great. Keep up the great work
for Hollywood...LA does have a subway system. 😉

👍🏻👍🏻 for the hard work/ content.
I like seeing regular Predator content on the channel as well.
Hey Alien Theory, PLZ do the Wolf Predator next!
Great video. Love Predator..thanks AT!
LA seems more viable in keeping with the theme of hottest places the Predator goes for hunting.
I wanna see a Predator go to Arizona or Nevada!
I love it!! More PREDATOR please!
I loved that game as a kid Concrete jungle
Every time someone describes an alien or predator as "impossibly fast", take a drink!
My favorite solo Predator story.

Would a Yautja be interested in hunting the Rake creature? I would like to know, please!
Concrete Jungle sounds like it would have blown the plot for Predator 2 out of the water. For what it's worth, I'm still happy with Predator 2.
@Lee Joyner, I liked Mike Harrigan too. The film had its flaws, but it was still enjoyable. Loved the scenes with Harrigan, and Keyes.
It was set in LA because it was the early 90s and back then LA was synonymous with being a warzone
When I hear concrete jungle I think of the PS2 game.... enjoyed that game personally
When I saw predator 2 as a kid I always thought the L.A portrayed with gang wars and street violance was actually the real L.A 😅
New York would be great, but I think a Chicago based Predator movie would be awesome. Or New Orleans!
The problem i had with Predator 2 was that the world of the movie was.............just to comical.
too over the top.
It was like the world of "last action hero" and "demolition man."
I wish they would have kept it somewhat more realistic.
You could narrate anything and I’d still listen

I seen both thoes movies they are good even if bad
Why did you degrade the "Queen" Ann to Wayland Jutani Executive? ;)
Would you do the comic of the events after predators 2010 where royce and isabel were still on predators game reserve planet pls.

You skin people alive in the Predator Concrete Jungle game.
People think they were skinned alive because the exposition repeatedly says “they were skinned alive”
They say it, but how would they know it? When the audience sees them before, the Predator usually just kills them before they're skinned and hung. There's typically no one left alive by that point.

I've never been able to picture Dutch's brother with the Austrian accent.
actually L.A does in fact have a subway just like in the movie. i liked predator 2
Alien Theory, you know what I’m gonna say.
City hunter were deadly yautja and Target mike harrigan as worthy prey, killing jerry lambert and danny to toy with his opponent in La
This is the movie they should make
Yup...more anything alien and predator. More more more
Where can I get these comics?
Never a disappointment.
viewed and thanks
Most of the comic books of the alien and predator universe are way better than most of the movies I mean fox really needs to pay attention to all of the comics.
They did once, and we got the AVP movies...
Jimmy Grey lol god you're right don't remind me they really could have done so much better the first AVP had some good moments but a good movie no sadly
The production had to film in L.A. Instead of NY due to budget restrictions. The setting change was out of necessity.
They should have made the movie much more like the comic, I like predator 2 but if the would have stuck more to the source material i think we could have enjoyed it more.
The novel story sounds more interesting, predator 2 was just too 80's they took everything tacky about the 80's and crammed it all in one movie.
Predator 2 was perfect
good joke, used the line from Predator 2 about the subways.
Atta boy Schaeffer
I always thought the hottest places have to do with places in the HEAT of Battle, whatever type of battle. Not Tempture hot
Its prowess for the predators - ascension, to kill the brother of the man who killed one of there own, he's fine pray indeed.
They should have made it in new york and should have used det schaeffer. Could have used arnold and justified it by saying the two brothers were twins
Honestly, why go astray from the comics in the first place? these changes seem really trivial and doesn't enchant the story in any way. Justin like with Earth war comics
OMG I think im the 10 000th watching this movie! 🤔🤐🤯

One of my bestest movie.
Predator 2 was cheezy. A disappointment.
+1 for the algorithm
1:48 no shit Sherlock
LA was fine NY sucks but LA now that’s a real sewer of a city
LA is hotter than New York. It's a better location.
Actually, according to the bible, the predators are, the physical devils. Mathew chapter 12,v 26, 27.
My preference is to leave the Predator series to itself and just feature the Alien franchise with the only exception being Alien vs Predator from time to time. 🙋
