- Most calculators either deliver WQI values one at a time or simply sum up Q-Values. This one allows the bulk calculation of Q-Values and WQI values using the National Sanitation Foundation's parameters!

Hi Rowan, I'm trying to access your calculator but your website isn't loading, is there anyway to download this elsewhere? Thank you!
Sorry, I had to take down site for maintenance. Whatcha using this for?
Try this and let me know:

Thanks, this is such a useful tool, where did you find the graphs to determine the Q value though?
Is WQI just for drinking water? Can I use it for river data to determine if river is still good. I'm sorry I have no background in hydrology.
The NSF designed this process to gauge the overall quality of water and it’s interactions with the environment, not it’s drinkability.
For example, a sample highly contaminated with lead will have a fairly normal WQI, but you definitely wouldn’t want to drink that. If you’re in the US and concerned, you should check out www.epa.gov/safewater/labs for more information.
I’m so glad this reached some non-hydrologists, I hope you stick around a while! Mind telling me how you found this video?
Thanks for the reply! I'm doing a research on how to determine a waterbody's quality with a single number been searching around youtube about statistics until I stumbled upon WQI and began watching videos related to WQI and thats how I ended up here.
@@rowanmccarthy How I can measure the drinkability of the water? Are there any parameters for this?
@@saulompg So the problem with measuring drinkability without professional support (like from your local waterworks) is that there are too many individual parameters that would disqualify it regardless of the values of the other parameters. WQIs are for summarizing, but for stuff you want to consume, you really should obtain granular detail.
This website (www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/environmental-workplace-health/reports-publications/water-quality.html#tech_doc) shows some of what you would need to keep an eye out for; it’s a ton of stuff. I really recommend you connect with your local water authority for information specific to your area and consider shipping samples to a professional lab.
Has anyone managed to use the "Canadian Water Quality Index 1.0 Calculator"?
Hi, what should I do if the Temperature is above 300C.
300C? You probably should drink that.
Hi, I'm trying build a system to collect parameters of water in a lake/river in a local comunity and return a index of water quality, do you think this is a aproprieted method?
The NSF WQI generally works well for areas where you don’t need to worry about salinity, so if you’re by an ocean, I would look into to the WQIs being developed in Florida. This gives a very broad-strokes summary, and for that purpose, it’s effective. Water can have a high score but still be unsafe to drink or recreate in depending on the particular parameter values. Whereabouts are you thinking to use the NSFWQI?
what if I dont have coliform??
any parameters you can’t test for you can just leave blank. it’ll lower the precision but will give you a number that assumed the coliform had no effect on the final wqi 👍
If I put data in a table it will give me QWI
If you put data in the corresponding spots, then it will give you a WQI value using the National Sanitation Foundation’s method.
