My favorite story is one of the animated tales. Savage got everything he wanted, yet the world and population died off, leaving him all alone. Superman was sent to his time period, they battled both conflicting ideologies and monsters, and he sent Superman back with the message, "Stop me."
That's usually what happens when a villain finally gets everything he's been fighting to get he's defeated his enemies he gets either lonely or bored. Then he/she doesn't know what to do with themselves at least that's how I see it.
Vandal has a great backstory and the potential to be one of the most interesting villains in the DC Universe, but he’s usually portrayed as a generic tyrant. Regardless, considering how the DC Universe is home to several characters that live in specific time periods such as the Easy Company, the Blackhawk Squadron, and Jonah Hex, Vandal definitely has a lot of metaphorical flexibility as a character.

The most underrated and least used villain, also I believe anti-hero in all of DC comics. He has stood the test of time and his knowledge forgoes all of which, including Bruce Wayne. what would stand against him is just his megalomania that gets in the way of his objectives but I see Vandal Savage as being the Savior but first he has to play the Antichrist and I would love nothing more than to see that play out, it should have been him as the main villain in justice league dark apocalypse war instead it should have been called The Savage war. And in the end Savage would have had well and good intentions based in evil and mass genocide which would have threw the characters into a conundrum of deciding whether or not to defeat him in the short run in order to Doom the world in all galaxies in the long run. Vandal is a rare opportunity to accomplish many of viewpoints both political and also socially, while also exploring his hero/antihero/evil objectives only for it to end up in the end being the good of humankind. I truly hope we find a writer who can see the potential of Vandal Savage because if you ask me he is the most dangerous villain in all of DC because no matter what takes place he will survive and be around to be able to counter that type of attack and any other in the future. The most valuable power is experience and he has it in abundance!
Not a huge fan of Young Justice, but the origin story they did on Vandal was awesome, one of the best comic cartoon episodes ever. It was also a touching tribute to Miguel Ferrer. Season 3 episode 7 "Evolution."

I've been saying for years now that Vandal Savage should be put throughout the DCEU slyly, and then revealed to be on the greater foes, playing a game with Darkseid and balancing chaos and order.

I loved when they made Vandal so important in the first two seasons (a decade ago!) and my mind has been creating so many possibilities for that character. We really need some of the animated creative teams to map out the DCEU.

I actually felt bad for Savage in that Justice League “Hereafter” episode.. he seemed genuinely regretful and remorseful for his actions.. and that was the final episode he appeared in.. leading me to believe that the Justice League had to find a way to kill him in order to stop him
Vandal Savage is the most interesting character for me, he needs his own series starting with his early beginnings way back in his cro-magnus or Cro-Magnons age and was he the first human mutant? must have been. Also love the batman ,savage saga and that also should come into it, obviously batman is one of the most interesting characters also but he's only human(even at peak human mental and physical shape)
I only really knew him as Lex Luthor's dad's boss. I know he must have some ties with Martian Manhunter too since he was the one Lex set free from his dad's workplace. Not hard to believe now knowing that Vandal was basically THE conqueror of human history.

Marvel needs to make a series of Vandal Savage on before and after. If there is a series already, please let me know. That would be pretty cool to see the before and after of V.S. You can see only pieces of V.S. with the Justice League, but not enough to really understand him. The understanding of V.S. will give more information on the reason why he is the way he is... Unfortunately it seems that DC is plagued by uncreative writing and too many chefs. How could a 50K year old tyrant ever come to see the 'error of his ways' and be written into the role of an Anti-Hero? The changing of how people perceive comics and how sales must rule stories dooms all villains from "He's the most evil being ever conceived to......He's just misunderstood". Pardon me while I retch! The worst part is that when they have the opportunity to allow him to be evil.....the heroes fail to recognize his obvious weakness and play into his hands every time. (very bad writing). He's immortal, he's unstoppable, he's impossible to defeat! - unless you have a brain. 1 - He's had 50K years to hone his physical skills and strengths - Don't pit your measly 15 years of hand to hand combat against him. Use range attacks. 2 - He's had all that time to learn strategy - Always believe he has a plan, a plan within a plan and a contingency plan just in case things start to go sideways for him. 3 - He's immortal...Don't wimp out. Don't pull your punches, don't be concerned about killing him and don't turn your back on him when he's down. 4 - He's been around so long he's probably injected "Squeamishness, Chivalry, and Honor" into the human culture either as a joke or because he knew we'd fall for it. When you defeat him (because it is possible), freeze him solid, break his body into pieces with a wood chipper, dump the pieces into vulcanized rubber destined to be hockey pucks. That will keep the human race safe from him for at least another 10K years - but he will be back. So you can sleep at night peacefully content that you didn't 'kill him'! Your 'hero vow' is intact!

I dont think it was that bad. The actor did fine, I just think the problem was the execution. Still, I enjoyed it but I definitely respect your opinion it wasn't perfect.

Vandal Savage has been done poorly many times, but never as poorly as in that show.

I dont think it was that bad. The actor did fine, I just think the problem was the execution. Still, I enjoyed it but I definitely respect your opinion it wasn't perfect.
