it happened finally. i managed to beat all 5 cups winning first place in every track in a single sitting without dying even once in the whole run.
all those GP runs were leading up to achieving this and it feels good that it finally happened. i nearly got trolled many times but i wasn't going to let this game get away with it after robbing me so many times.
the fun part is that this run wasn't as fast as many other runs i've had in the past. this ship isn't exactly a powerhouse but i wasn't actually expecting a perfect run with it after failing with better ships.

The taxi’s stats aren’t C A B. What a missed oppertunity.
Well, CAB would make it seem like a pretty good machine. But it's not like GX is honest with its letter grades anyway.

Yet another recognizable AX machine. This is one stylish machine. First off, it's a taxicab! If you can race with a taxi in a racing game, that's awesome racing game material! The checkerboard, the digital display, the license plate (it references EAD too. Translating the grades to numbers, E is 1, A is 5 and D is 2. 152 = EAD), the yellow and the multiple seats. It's a taxi! It plays pretty well too. It's not the fastest but it's not bad. Acceleration is decent. Body is pretty sturdy and the grip is pretty stable. Boost isn't all that good but it's still not the weakest. It turns pretty well too. It's ranked as BDB which is a downgraded BDA, BCB or ADB, but stats mean nothing to skill. Take this groovy piece of machinery out for a spin and you'll earn a funky victory. And groove past the finish line first at PRSLS.
i never really liked the booster of this machine because it would waste too much energy, but i loved the concept of this machine and it's pilot, it was the only machine i would never dare to destroy on the grand Prix,

I guess Groovy Taxi is a reference to Crazy Taxi. Weird how Sega of all companies made one of the best iterations of a Nintendo IP
that moment at the end of PRSLS was such bullshit, the AI in this game is unfairly ridiculous. great last second use of MTRS though
Nice speedrun. In my prime I was almost as good though I used a custom machine and usually killed half the drivers field each GP race (and I also loved an exploding finish ^^).
Oh Nintendo, will you ever bring a new F-Zero (on a home console)...

Just watched quite a few of these runs of yours and enjoyed it a lot. The rail slide at the end of Phantom Road was super clutch. Gotta ask why you never attack the other racers though
Nick Fassino I believe he once said that he doesn't attack other racers because he doesn't need to in order to win. I'm not sure though
Well another factor is rivalries in this arent as... Motivated as they should be. As long as your 1st place often, you can cheat out some races.
Attacking other racers actually slows you down a bit.

Sure, assuming you get the hit. But it's not as much as other techniques. Basically a risk-reward situation where the reward isn't worth the risk.
CPU has never gotten in the top 6 with Groovy Taxi.

Hey man, very impressive! Just wondering, why do you drop throttle and fire up combined with boost all the time? I would think that reduces speed..?

If you keep the Gas on at High speeds, you will decelerate pretty fast up to the machine's max speed. When you release the gas at high speeds, you decelerate much slower. That's called Momento Throttle (MT)
Was Groovy Taxi meant to be F-Zero's equivilent of the 'Lethal Joke Character', or just the Joke Character in general? I've not had the systems to get into the games, thus my curiosity.
Gotta admit though, definitely seems serious enough during the interviews.
there's many ships that are like this one in stats. the joke character status comes mostly from the looks of the ship.

As long as he crosses the finish line on Lap 3, it counts. It's a common strat because you get massive speed burst when you break down.
If he didn't do it on Phantom Road, Buster would have been 1st.
