That's awesome, man! You are feeling the same excitement that I did. I converted my old solid mount 883 (2001 model) to 1200 just last month. I had head work done, new valves and springs, Andrews N4 cams, barnett clutch, big sucker high flow air filter, compu-fire aftermarket ignition (fly weight type spark advance), and carb re-jetted. Also added slip-on pipes with 3/4" baffles (to properly work with the intake, jetting and the cams). I kept the stock 883 gearing which is lower than stock 1200, to keep rpms near the point where it comes up on the cams (around 3500rpm). That way if I'm in top gear at 70 I can just roll it on and already be in the fat part of the power curve. The bike is a beast now! And super fun to ride.. Totally different from how it was as an 883.. Great video by the way, that's awesome, and I just subscribed.
I bought an 883 last year, converted it to a 1275 over the winter and couldn’t wait to break her in.Ive been smiling ever since and that’s no bullshit!I love my sportster as much as you love the smell coming from the parking lot at best buy🤘
Got an 883 for my first bike, in my opinion the best looking and sounding bike Harley makes. Prolly gettin a 1250 kit once my A2 period runs out, that looks fun as hell.
I’m 18 and I’ve been looking at 1250 hammer kit for a while now seeing this video definitely showed me that it’s worth it I’m abt to make the move and get a 1250 hammer kit for my sporty
Great video, man. I also had a 1250 Sportster that started life as an 883. I loved that thing and if possible, I'll definitely build another but be sure to keep it this time. That was my first bike and it was real cool being able to up the power as my riding skills improved. In the end, I did the 1250 kit, cams, I upped the gas tank to the 4.5 and I swapped the primary gearing for the 1200 Sportster gearing and I also changed the transmission pulley out for the 30 tooth unit that is standard on European Sportsters. What all that did was give the bike really long legs for the highway by lowering my cruising rpm substantially. Also gave me about a 200 mile range per tank. I had better range than allot of the baggers I ride with lol. Anyway, if and when I do it again, I'll definitely go for a 1200 to start with. 883's just don't have the gearing for comfortable highway riding and it's a pretty good amount of trouble to get the gearing set up right. Its just not worth the trouble when you can just buy the 1200 and already have the taller gearing to start with and stock for stock, the 1200 isn't all that much more than a 1200 power wise. Once you start modding though, they're very different.
Wat kit u used ? S&s, jP cycles, hd screaming eagle? Also u had to buy the auto tuner from scream eagle? Also, if I go to either s&s or jp cycles can I just buy a tuner to tune up or I'll need both tuner and fuel tuning insert as well?
Just because it's a 883 doesn't mean it's a beginner bike lol. I'll bust your a ss with that 883. I've been racing bikes since I was 4 years old and anyone that knows anything about motorcycles will tell ya it's not the horse power it's the rider. In my neighborhood growing up I had a 125 and I'd bust those 250 and 400s a ss all day. Beginner bike my a ss. Maybe you couldn't handle the torque of the 883.
@@itiswhatitis321i dont think that’s what he said. He said the longer gearing on the 1200 makes it less tiring to cruise on highway, and it’s not a simple job to increase the gearing on a 883

I just had a Stage 1 done to my Iron 883. Next I'll do a stage 2 which is SE performance valve springs, SE lifter and SE Pushrods. I'm also gonna upgrade my braking setup. Finally when my factory warranty expires I'm going all in with a Hammer 1275 kit and Cobra Speedster 909s
Its just a little bit more or in some cases equal to a stock 1200 with rejetted carb and exhaust, or retuned mapping for FI. Its why a 1250 kit is not recommended for a 1200, but a 1275 kit is.
I’ve had my eye on that kit for quite a while. I just finished doing Stage 1. I’m gonna do my clutch and Power Vision next. Hen I will Po I’ll the trigger on the big purchase.
The power increase from an 883 to 1250 or 1275 will be very noticeable but you should consider the heads before you do anything. The 883 heads cannot supply enough airflow - even 1200 heads don't really flow enough for the standard cams so you need to think about that first as you will soon tire of the power increase coming to an end once you hit 4 - 4500 rpm. With the heads ported and a 1250 kit with cams you will have more than double the 883's power.
@@thakery5720 and Infinit Ryda, this is great to hear. I'm about 400 miles into break-in on my hammer 1275 90hp+ and I'm really hoping to feel something different after break in because so far im totally underwhelmed. Cant feel anything different. and the tc88a is a pita
@@ilovecarnitas If you are using the 90+ kit then the heads are ported and you have new cams - yes ? Well when you went to 1275cc, the compression ratio and cylinder pressures increased - you may not know this but the (standard) 6R12 spark plugs are too 'hot' a plug - I use Champion RA2HC's (three steps colder) as the plugs Hammer recommend were too hot as well even though they are one or two steps colder. With 'colder' plugs the central electrode loses more heat - 'hotter' plugs can cause the engine to pre-ignite (or 'pink') and that can cause a lack of power, higher fuel consumption, a hotter engine temperature and if they are too hot can cause engine damage. Love the vids bro! I just wish they'd had the 1275 kits out before I did the S&S 1200 kit on mine. Still, the 883 has a lower gear ratio, so it's quicker off the line than a regular 1200. Cruising RPMs are higher on the highway though. What bars are you running?

80 in fourth or more 7:10

All of this at around 3000 rpm.

The 883 heads make more power and torque in the conversion than the 1200 heads. At least that is what Hammer Performance says.
I agree
That’s just not true. If you are doing a basic conversion with flat top pistons the 883 heads can make a little bit more torque down low but run out of flow quickly and the 1200 heads will make more power overall. Are you useing the Fp3 tuner? Did you just do 1250 cyl/pistons with stock 883 heads? Or just basic 1250 cyl/pistons??
Stock heads and yes I’m using the FP3
I was told this by a salesman at Harley buy a 883 and then do a big bore kit it will save you on insurance.
82racer just a little bit you end up with more torque because the 883 is geared different
Did you have to buy cable extensions for them bars
How's the gas mileage? Like can it pass everything but a gas station type of situation.
how do you get the rpm and speed etc showed on your phone?@!! thats cool. nice bike!@
Vance and Hines FP3 tuner and phone app.
What are you using for a tach?
What was the cost of the kit and installation?
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have never been into HDs but after watching your video, now I want to purchase a cheap 883, overhaul it properly and do the 1250 kit...
Your bike sounds real good. What exhausts do you use?
I have the Vance and Hines Mini Grenades
It's like a Chevy S10 with a 350.
Straight up bad to the bone.
What is 0-60 with this compared to stock stage1 1200?
Like 4 seconds I think. I’ll find out soon.
Great video! Sold me on the big bore kit. One question, what app is that on your phone that shows your rpm?
Alex Garza the app for the FP3 tuner
Loved,it.😊
Thanks
Love the vids bro! I just wish they'd had the 1275 kits out before I did the S&S 1200 kit on mine. Still, the 883 has a lower gear ratio, so it's quicker off the line than a regular 1200. Cruising RPMs are higher on the highway though. What bars are you running?
Lucky Dave’s bars. And yeah being on the highway for a long time would suck
I’m told S&S hooligan kit creates plenty of HP & T.
lot of talk about gear ratios and i get it . sprockets are relatively not too expensive and easy to replace on most cycles . did that on a few of mine to suit my riding style dirt and street . to each their own ride on and stay safe
does this kit burn fuel faster do you know the mpg or how much more fuel it burns if it does?
A little more.
What bars you running ? I like em
Lucky Dave’s San Diego
how much would it cost to have harley install it? and should i purchase the kit instead of having them buy it? or any good videos or links on how to?
Find a local Harley shop, not a dealer.
What is the app you are using that shows the RPM and everything?
The FP3 tuner
What Handlebars are these man! I love the look of them.
Lucky Daves
Drop a link of where to order this? Did you need a new clutch too for it?
Yes I have a performance clutch.
www.hammerperf.com/
I live in the same area as you. Did you have a dealer or shop install the kit? If so, would you mind sending the details where you did it?
I had a dealership do it. Check with Speedway HD in concord.
is it worth installing the conversion kit? What is the maximum speed you can reach with the kit? Thank you!
Yes and I think around 120ish. I think. I never look at the speed. Lol
What pipe is this? sounds fantastic
Josh Hughes Vance and Hines Mini Grenades
nice what kind of mirros is that ?
Some eBay mirrors. They weren’t that good
did you do cams and aftermarket heads also or just the cylinders and pistons?
Just cylinders and pistons
How much did it cost you to upgrade to that kit? the kit? I looking to upgrade mine.
I got it one sale and got it installed at half price because I worked at the dealership so in total around $900
How much does the kit cost
Nice!! Did you use your FP3 to tune it after the install?
Yes
@@theinfinitryda is it problem to tune it with fp3?
By the time I’m finished I fear all that’s original will be frame and gearbox. Lol
More restraint then me...I would have pegged that speedo. 😆
Lol
What all did you have replaced
Doing a vid soon on upgrades
Awesome video bro! Was there a big change in fuel consumption?
Not that I have noticed
What kit did you go with. Was it just the basic conversation.
Yes
What app is that on your phone?
Will harley do the conversion. Or do you have to take it somewhere else
Harley did mine
I'm subscribed to your other channel haha
Cyclecruza or something like that right haha
Lol. That’s not me.
How do you have your tach on your phone?
It’s the tuner.
What app is that for the rpms? How’s does it work
FP3 tuner.
Do u need buy ecu for 1200 and do u need a recalibration or can u just add a fuel pack tuner..... Answer asap
Just a tuner
@@theinfinitryda I felt the shops and harley were on sum 🐂 lol
@@renerodriguez6300 a lot of them are. That’s true. Lol
@@theinfinitryda thanx man I'm looking forward to the conversion
@@theinfinitryda may I ask wat kit u used? There's many s&s , j&p cycles, n harley screaming eagle.... Also if I go the jp or s&s route ... Can I just buy the tuner and plug it in ? Sorry need help alot of people wanna rip off now a days also the bottom end is all stock
Yo! I live in CLT too and just bought an 883 from RideNow in Concord. I already have a Fat Bob.
I freaked the fuck out when I realized I live in the immediate are where the begenning of this video took place Good ole mathews
Oh yeah. Nice. You ride?
You using the 883 heads ??
Yes
What app are you using to measure the rpm?
It’s the FP3 tuner
How did you tune it on your FP3? Did you asked V&H for a specific map? Becuase on loaded maps, the conversion is from 883 to 1200 and not 1250... I'm thinkink on a 1275 Hammer Performance kit, but just saw on their site that the FP3 is not easy to tune and that's what I have... Nice bike, nice videos!
Vance and Hines has maps for both the 1250 and 1275 now!
Jonny Mac, really?? I don’t have it on my map options... Probably have to contact them and ask fo it. Thanks!!
What kit is that for the phone/tach???
BloodyBuzzard Bindel FP3 tuner
Nice phone placement. What app is that ?
The FP3 app
Think I'll do the same upgrade in the future.
Good decision. I love it
what kind of kit is it and what are all the parts i need?
Hammer 1250 performance kit
Hammer 1250 kit
Hey man can you do a vid of the cost and what was done with the 1250 kit ?
Sure. I’ll start working on it
How much kit cost total?
I honestly forgot. I got it on discount. I’ll check and get back to you
Wind it out man. I hit over 60 in second gear on my 05 1200 with pipes and air cleaner.
Juan Ramallo I will eventually. Lol
