Howe made the right choice with Bruno. He trusts him implicitly, especially after last season when the player avoided getting a booking for 10 straight games. I think that level of discipline to help our threadbare squad really impressed Eddie, nevermind what Bruno can do when we really need him. I remember back in the day, Don Revie doing the same with Billy Bremner and it was the making of him. I must also say I'm very worried about the transfer situation. Couldn't agree more, Liveramento is not finished article .Trippier is still best fullback back we have . If we had brought a couple of top drawer players in maybe , but we haven't! Selling Trip weakens us simple as that .
We should have walked away from the Guehi deal a couple of weeks ago and bought an alternative around the 40m mark. Palace don't need to sell so are in a strong negotiating position. They are not being 'difficult', as is suggested elsewhere, they are doing a great job in their negotiations, from a Palace perspective. Even if we get him now it's a failure as it's taken all of the available money, apparently, and all of the focus of the negotiating team. You need to know when to walk away (and yes I was responsible for negotiations in a Sales job) and we should have done that a couple of weeks ago.
No doubt Tripps personal life affected his game and there is no guarantee that those problems will not raise their ugly head again. Those problems are personal but when it can affect his game then it becomes public. Next, Tripps was very vocal with his thoughts over the Japan trip. I think that his experience should have seen him voice his concerns behind closed doors . Is Tripps guaranteed first choice on team selection ?. No, so your on field captain has to be someone who is expected to be first choice week in week out not including short injuries and or rest. What ever happens I wish Tripps the best for his professional future.

Wow, that toon shirt behind your right shoulder took me suddenly back to school. That was my first proper NUFC shirt (short sleeve version... and shortly after, the best tracksuit in history). Vaguely around that time a friend's dad got me David McCreery's signed photo and I was well chuffed. Now we've got Bruno, Joe and Tonali in midfield. Gives me some consolation perspective on this awful (so far) window. Anyway, was waiting for a Craig Hope video to clarify this week's insanity, so many thanks as always. More soon please!
I remember when my dad bought it for me. It was a Chronicle advert and we went to a house in Chapel Park. I had to choose between that and the England jersey. I was only 5, but such a clear memory.
Watched the press conference live and I got the distinct impression Eddie was extremely pissed with the lady who was badgering him about Sandro Tonali's gambling addiction and asking if the club were still monitoring his behavior. With the multiple questions on Trippier Captaincy Eddie couldn't get out there quick enough. Great channel BTW.
I honestly think he was pissed off with all the journalists. Constantly asking the same questions. Bruno plays almost every game and is our most important player and should be captain! As for that Louise I hope she is not allowed back in that press conference. I don't think Craig should be posting on X insinuating things that he obviously won't know for certain is happening.
Trippier - best player in PL ,never mind just at NUFC, up until Dec last year ….when he was run into the ground with injury crisis / paper thin squad People have short memories. Additionally, age is just a number . World class talent and character is so hard to replace. Hence , why the best team on the planet have gladly just welcomed back a player , also in his mid 30s Also every top aspiring club have two top drawer players in every position
I cannot find any single thing in your post that is correct or even remotely true. Best player in the PL until December? Really, just really? Age is just a number? Can you tell me how there are only 11 players older than Tripps, with three of those keepers and not one a first choice in a club competing in Europe? This sentimental stuff is small club mentality, akin to keeping Almeiron because he smiles and runs around a lot.
For me Sunday will set the tone for the rest of the season. Last season this would be (and was) a game that we looked poor in, a dramatically diffrent team from the year before. We need to be on the front foot, dominating play and possession, not defending for our lives. Too many players last weekend looked off, nothing created before the red. We need to give Isak chances, we didnt do that last week. But for me, I think we get beat tomorrow. On Guehi, its gone quiet last 2 days, which is normally a good thing, but if thr deal is close, then the lad surely doesnt play tomorrow for them, if he does (and Palace risk an injury and loose £60 odd million) is it that close. I think Palace are stringing us along, whats the odds that this goes on into next week and the deal is then off few days before deadline day.
You right split the available funds and get a RW in, Guehi isn't gonna get us European football and up the league but a red hot in form right winger assisting and scoring will. Showed our hand far too early to Parish I thought the Greek GK deal was separate from the Anderson one pointless signing. Mineth looked really good for Brighton until he got injured I think we will regret that one.
Hello Craig, great video as always! I agree that we desperately need a right winger. Can I ask If we only sign Marc Guehi could you see Sanusi or possibly Kuol have a breakout season on the right wing? If you’re ever in Rosie’s or the strawberry after a home game I’ll have to buy you a pint one day and talk all things NUFC, keep up the amazing work!
Eddie made his requirements perfectly clear before the start of the window, and now with a week to go and two matches into the season Eales and Mitchell are still scrambling around trying to get someone over the line. This is more like the bad old days than the glory days with Amanda.
I know he's not been here long to make long-term opinions, but Mitchell has been as bad as Charnley with transfers so far. Eddie's comment makes it sound like he has very little sway in transfer activity, but I think Mitchell should absolutely be answerable to Eddie and should have to report into him and update him as, ultimately, Eddie's job is on the line if we suffer due to no signings. What I DO believe should be within Mitchell's power is to advise that Gaehi is too expensive and that he can't negotiate a reduction so we need to move onto other targets. I'd hate to blow all our money on Gaehi, and then find next PSR deadline we have to sell MORE valuable players that we don't want to sell. Imagine having to sell Isak, Joelinton or Bruno because we had our pockets emptied buying Gaehi. I'd be sick as a chip.
Nice to hear from young Hopey, Craig! He summed up the current state of play. Nothing happening yet! From a football point of view we need to hold on to Trippier. It's time we improved our away form and Bournemouth is a good place to start. Krafth for Schär would be my only change. The fullbacks need to have a run of games to prove themselves. Here's hoping!😊 Forgive the pun!
I do think that a lack of a significant new signing effected the atmosphere on Saturday Craig.Maybe if Tonali had of been able to make a return would have lifted everyone also.We didn’t start to great either, especially prior to the sending off. There were a lot of contributing factors,I’m sure it will improve.
Can’t really argue with anything you have said today Craig. I can’t speak for all fans but I am personally deflated, for the life of me I can’t understand this blind pursuit of Guehi! Yes there is a new wind blowing through SJP but I can’t believe how unprofessional our new owners are being made to look! We have a week to make this window a success and I just can’t see it happening with incomings or outgoings! We can only hope the squad pulls off miracles and gets us top 6. HWTL
PS, you're spot on with pretty much every take, IMHO. There are fan channels i love for blind optimism and others for comedy ranting, but this is easy #1 for informed, objective analysis of NUFC. Stating the amazing or the appalling (or mostly the best efforts in-between) however you honestly see it. Sadly a rare professional approach these days, from the pre-social media journo school, but fortunately now on YT.
we spoke last season about how Bruno should be captain - look how he didn't get booked end of last season - gr8 example of a pro - big Joe must have been close - ? VC - Kieran may be back one day as manager - it's where he is going with his career - he wants 1st team football - but we will miss him in dressing room - born leader
sounds like the start of your MLC 🙂 Chasing the feelings that football used to arouse back in t'day. I think you have much to be happy with away from footy. Fingers crossed for Sunday - Possibly more excitement Weds with the return of Tonali, this could be the reason for the push for Guehi I think. Good luck with the WhatsApp 👍🔔
Missed the show live Craig however enjoying the catch up I firmly believe that there lies an adgenda from the PIF board I derive this from 37 +years in the ME along side corprate board level desions being made also believe Daren &Paul are within this circle with a certain remit & its I'm affriad its not with EH and yes the air is out of the balloon ride 😢 Trevor Thailand Hope I'm wrong !!
The RW lack of quality means that we aren’t serious competitors for CL. A 5-7th place finish is best we can achieve without refreshing that position…. And that’s over achievement due to Eddie as can’t think of too many other PL clubs poorer in that part of the pitch. Also means we can’t lose Trips as he offers the attacking quality delivery down that side (Tino is a different kind of threat carrying the ball).
We got top 4 with the current RW options two years ago and we have a better squad now. Top 5 could also get champions league this year depending on performances in Europe
No way we should sell Trips and a loan should only be considered if it comes with an obligation to buy (for a good sum of money). Really disappointing window if we overpay for Guehi and don't get a "purple" (or close to) right winger. Your bairn was too cute there at the end by the way !! :D
I think a lot of fans are underwhelmed by our activity in this transfer window (compounded by the PSR deadline fiasco). That’s why I think the crowd was a bit ‘flat’ on opening day.
I'd like to see us try to sign Rayan Cherki. He's going for a nominal fee this window.(£12-17M) A cheap option for the RW or LW or through the middle. A very two footed player who could improve ur attack and add that unpredictabilty that Maxi gave us. Great for bringing on late in a match to sit defenders down and create openings.
With a reputation around the globe for having a really, really bad attitude and being a poor professional. No thanks, stick with the no d!chheads policy.
I think we have enough money to pay for gueh and a top drawer rw, we can roughly spend the same amount we did in the first window I would of thought, and really, fans should hold judgement on the transfer window and all those involved until it's actually finished
Why is nothing ever simple at Newcastle! Transfer window has not gone well,we need two top class players if we are to progress, otherwise we will stagnate or decline slightly.
Seems that our right side is in turmoil. Tripps or Livramento, no new right sided CB and Schar not available, will Tonali work this time and a weak RW attacker. The backroom also doesnt seem to be working. The Guehi transfer isnt being handled well - hopefully we have an alternative sorted to snap up if it falls through - and we are significantly overpaying. While the structure is right, the timing of the changes has been poor - shouldve been well before the window or wait until after. Eddie clearly isnt happy.
Could we not have Mario Hermosa CB on a free from Madrid? Chiesa is around £25 mill? I would want someone in rotation with Longstaff as others are better off the left
You obviously weren’t looking at the end of the PSR period. He was bought at an inflated price to get us compliant in return for Forest buying Anderson at an inflated price to get them compliant.
its easy to forget that after the 5-1 win last season we lost the next three games including a very poor performance at Brighton. this season will be better.
Again, bang on the money. The epl in general is flat. Little to no investment from most clubs.. Almost like they are doing enough to tick over. Are Newcastle hearing something on the grape vine.. Epl hasn't been the same since covid
There is something definitely off. Mehd / Amanda are a real loss to the positive vibe around the club and im really doubting whether Mitchell / Eales are good enough. Genuinely shocked at how bad this window is going
I would be delighted if Trippier stays. Yes he was a bit off at the close of last season but if he can work back up to his best, he's worth far in excess of the money we would get for him. I believe he wants to coach when he ends his playing career, surely Eddie et al could give him some role in that respect at the club to take the sting out of losing the armband.
Every time I see Eddie, he just seems to me to be out of sorts and possibly unhappy with his position at the club. I may well be misreading the signs but I just hope we can put in some good solid performances and gather plenty of points to set us up for a decent season.
They should have kept Staveley on the board, she was popular with both the team and the supporters, bad decision to let her go! She also got things done!!!
Another Day with no Brucie to deal with Mr Hope is offering fair looks today thank you. Liek the Weather off the African coast when the storms brew. Yes For PSR some hard choices on injured and fit IF a man dosent have his whole heart in the stayign it can sink in to on off field id rather have a solid man like Hayden suit up then a ryan frasier disloyal one.
Lets be honest, we are transpiering into a business investment club. Probably chop and change manager every couple of seasons, aim for top 6 every season. Make profit etc. Amanda was the last heartbeat of the true Newcastle. From now on we will buy players for stupid money and sell to the highest bidder. And tbf....I cant wait 😁 ⚫️⚪️
Tino is not the finished article yet and neither is Hall. No substitute for experience. If we could sign a fullback better than Trippier then I’m sure we would.
Craig, I don’t expect you to comment, but I was disgusted with Louise Taylor’s line of questioning, surely Journos have a line that should not be crossed? Clearly Eddie not amused and the retrospective upload of the PC omitted her part. She seems to have an agenda?
Taking everything into account on and off the field, I think Tripps is probably our best signing ever. He has still has a lot to give and I hope he stays.
There is another Newcastle vlog that was practically cheering for him to leave. They just quoted his latter performances and did not consider the overall performance since he arrived at Newcastle. He will be a big miss if he goes.😮
His off field issues seem to have caused a divide in the squad, great when you have families that all get along but when things go wrong the knock on effects can be far reaching
If Trippier leaves that would leave Kraft as our back up rb and back up rcb until at least Lascelles is back. I cant see Burn and Kelly starting together as cb pair.
What is actually going on Craig? Eddie seemed very frustrated with what is going on. He can't be happy losing the two lads that were sold and then what on earth was that goalkeeper bought for other than to fiddle PSR for Forest in t return for them buying Anderson? It actually should be looked into if he leaves. What was the price they paid I've seen anything from 5-6m to 20m was reported in the Athletic. Feels like a really poor window if no one else comes in and whilst we have kept the bigger players is that the measure of success now, feels more like Ashley era. Hopefully Guehi comes in and that improves us or I do actually think there may be trouble ahead with Eddie not being too happy with what has gone on, he can't be expected to improve the team and the league position when the squad is essentially worse.
Vibe was flat apart from first few mins. Third window not improved the first 11, no movement on new training ground, are PIF taking a different investment view for us.
Classic. On the day your newspaper has a story that explains away Trippier’s meltdown that derailed last season on the front pages. Couldn’t make it up.
I think Tripps has been amazing but he had as many bad games as good ones last season. Tino came into the side and we instantly looked better, before he was dropped for no reason. If Tino and Hall are going to be the future they need to start playing regularly. Remember when we said we couldn’t afford mistakes? Well this is looking to be our third poor window in a row. Big season ahead and the first one since the takeover that I haven’t been confident about.
Marc Guehi just confirmed he is staying in CP so I'm delighted we don't over spend for an average English defender....Now the club's need to wake up and try to sign a genuine CV and RW from that budget
@@rickyd4073 Marc Guehi speaking about the game and season ahead: "It’s a huge honour to be made captain of this Football Club. Now we look ahead to this season in the hope that we can create something like the momentum we had at the end of the last campaign." Dies that look like the man wanting to leave, plus why would they make him captain if he was to leave, same principle as Bruno being made captain
Trippiers end to the season was poor though, not discrediting what he had done before that, but he cost us massively in a few games and his effort in the Man Utd game was interesting…. He is not getting any younger and that looked the case last season at the end.
Eddie Howe has already said what trippier means to the team so what’s all the fuss about he should stay without doubt one of our best signing in his position only wish he was seven year younger keep him please
I’m not convinced you are right. Remember the 4/5 games he cost the toon November/December 2023. We also need to move on from the Roy Of The Rovers type of player…
Stupid take, focusing on a handful of bad games over the other 90% of games which he's been brilliant for us. He's still better than Tino, who isn't the finished article yet. Wait until Tino makes a mistake or 2 (which he will because he's still young), a lot of fans will jump on him.
Vlac will go out on loan, to gain fitness and confidence and first team football, he is highly rated and still young, and then come back next sumer when dubs contract is up to challenge pope for no1, Its a clever move
I've said this elsewhere as well, I don't like Bruno as a captain. A captain has certain tasks on the pitch other than just being a good player. A player should never need the captaincy arm band to feel loved and secure in the club. Take the incident with Schaer against Southampton. Where was Bruno in the situation? Trippier would have smelled the dangers as soon as Diaz attacked Schaer from behind and been there to calm him down or make sure he didn't do anything stupid. Bruno is one of the more hot heads in the club. How is he gonna be able to calm down other players and talk calmly to the ref? Last season they focused on yellow cards if non captains talked to the ref. Against Southampton I saw almost every other player talk to the ref, except for Bruno. I love the guy as a locker room leader, but on the pitchy he's not captaincy material. If we lose Trippier, I would have chosen either Burn or Pope.
I think you need to watch the incident again. Bruno was fouled on the halfway line just before the flash point. He had just picked himself off the floor as the situation got out of control. It is clear that Bruno asked the ref to go to the video screen to review, after the red card was shown. I don't know how Bruno was supposed to able to anticipate what Schar did while picking himself off the floor
Totally agree with you Craig, Kieran is undoubtably needed at Newcastle and has lots more to give, it will be a gloomy day if he leaves.
Why do journalists ask Eddie the same question that 6 other journalists have already asked? Eddie was as annoyed as I was. It's such a waste of an opportunity gain some insight.

I agree and it must be even more frustrating for Eddie.
How many people are now going to ask this same question 🤔
Because he didn’t answer the question and subsequent journalists asked slightly different questions to try and get an answer

Gives me some consolation perspective on this awful (so far) window. Anyway, was waiting for a Craig Hope video to clarify this week's insanity, so many thanks as always. More soon please!
Mine too! A classic once sported by Gazza & Co
@@Cumbriamag yes!!
Trippier - best player in PL ,never mind just at NUFC, up until Dec last year ….when he was run into the ground with injury crisis / paper thin squad
People have short memories.
Additionally, age is just a number . World class talent and character is so hard to replace.
Hence , why the best team on the planet have gladly just welcomed back a player , also in his mid 30s
Also every top aspiring club have two top drawer players in every position
Loved the sign-off
Haha.
Yeah, it could have gone differently!
sounds like the start of your MLC 🙂
Chasing the feelings that football used to arouse back in t'day. I think you have much to be happy with away from footy.
Fingers crossed for Sunday - Possibly more excitement Weds with the return of Tonali, this could be the reason for the push for Guehi I think.
Good luck with the WhatsApp 👍🔔
Missed the show live Craig however enjoying the catch up
I firmly believe that there lies an adgenda from the PIF board
I derive this from 37 +years in the ME along side corprate board level desions being made also believe Daren &Paul are within this circle with a certain remit & its I'm affriad its not with EH
and yes the air is out of the balloon ride 😢

Hope I'm wrong !!
@@LewisJms123other teams have strengthened.
Our RW is a serious weakness and there is no getting away from that fact.
No way we should sell Trips and a loan should only be considered if it comes with an obligation to buy (for a good sum of money). Really disappointing window if we overpay for Guehi and don't get a "purple" (or close to) right winger.
Your bairn was too cute there at the end by the way !! :D
What the hell are the recruitment team doing, it's embarrassing beyond belief 😳
It's a shame you still ain't got Dan ashworth !!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think a lot of fans are underwhelmed by our activity in this transfer window (compounded by the PSR deadline fiasco).
That’s why I think the crowd was a bit ‘flat’ on opening day.
5:20 Tripper needs to roll with the punches 👊, and especially for the movement and growth of the club!
Love these Craig’s 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Disappointing window to date. Plus yes the team didn't look 100% during the opening weekend.
This window has been a disaster for me and I’m sure if Amanda had still been here we would have had a few more through the door.
Get used to the occasional flatness in the crowd. It comes with expectations.
Selling a keeper we just brought in? Something iffy about that 🤔
You obviously weren’t looking at the end of the PSR period. He was bought at an inflated price to get us compliant in return for Forest buying Anderson at an inflated price to get them compliant.
its easy to forget that after the 5-1 win last season we lost the next three games including a very poor performance at Brighton. this season will be better.
Mr Eddie also fanceys past men hes had like Mings. which after the injury hurt Villas morale in our great win to kick off last season.
Again, bang on the money. The epl in general is flat. Little to no investment from most clubs.. Almost like they are doing enough to tick over.
Are Newcastle hearing something on the grape vine.. Epl hasn't been the same since covid
Eminent commonsense as always.
Here’s to a good season for all!
#HTL
You’re definitely misreading the situation
Not sure time will tell
@@Alex-jq3vx I sincerely hope so.
Think he is still fed up with what happened in June.
They should have kept Staveley on the board, she was popular with both the team and the supporters, bad decision to let her go! She also got things done!!!
Should have been sold to Bayern in January.
Darren Eales doesn't have the charisma of Amanda and Mehrdad and currently things appear a bit subdued
The money isn’t worth it versus the quality in squad depth for trips imo … we’d be stuffed if tino gets injured (and he’s had a few in his career)
Tino is not the finished article yet and neither is Hall. No substitute for experience. If we could sign a fullback better than Trippier then I’m sure we would.
How do they become the finished article if they don't play?
@@sid-d4wthat’s true but we have to accept the players will make mistakes and show naivety at times, which can cost the team in the short run.
Let him leave and sort his life out.
He goes with all our best wishes.
Krafth is good cover for Tino,he has vastly improved under Eddie.
I’d get trippier back RB and try Tino Rw he’s got the skill and speed to do a job for us there
Tripper’s hoose is up for sale…so family comes first, well the kids if he’s dipped his wick😮so not sure he will want to stay? But aye agree 💯 keep him
Vibe was flat apart from first few mins.
7:59 How long at the same time has #willy got,1 or 2 year's?
One thing Eddie did say was Trippier has not asked to leave
Marc Guehi just confirmed he is staying in CP so I'm delighted we don't over spend for an average English defender....Now the club's need to wake up and try to sign a genuine CV and RW from that budget
Source?
@@rickyd4073
Marc Guehi speaking about the game and season ahead:
"It’s a huge honour to be made captain of this Football Club. Now we look ahead to this season in the hope that we can create something like the momentum we had at the end of the last campaign."
Dies that look like the man wanting to leave, plus why would they make him captain if he was to leave, same principle as Bruno being made captain
Trippiers end to the season was poor though, not discrediting what he had done before that, but he cost us massively in a few games and his effort in the Man Utd game was interesting…. He is not getting any younger and that looked the case last season at the end.
Agree on trippier...his quotes havnt helped his case..but hes a keeper
His form in the last half of the season was just not good enough.
He was brilliant before that.
Who knows what the future will hold???
If we forced Trippier to stay, where would he even live? They've got the house up for sale. He left Newcastle utd in his head last season
see ya tripps good luck,,,,,,,,,,,,
Whats the point of keeping him here if he wants to leave ?
So you think it’s imperative that Trippier stays and that is what Eddie said so not sure there is a story here ?
Tripps was utter shite last year .legs
gone give away about 8 points and a final with hus shit header against Chelsea
Won't be missed
Please remind me exactly why you think Trippier “wants to leave”; the source, the objective evidence. Has Trippier told you directly Craig?
@@andyh8095 that explains more. The footage i've seen doesn't show Bruno at all.
