    The TBX control is an ordinary passive pot until centre detent, 5=50%, after 5 it boosts the upper mids & especialy the treble by up to 6db but still passive...clever if you need that extra treble boost for slap etc...i have the Jaguar FSR bass,all black PJ ,Ebony fretboard with reversed P pickup...i have put in a Seymour Duncan noiseless Split Coiled Appolo Jazz bridge pickup so no hum or noise..9.35K Jazz bridge ,9.99K Precision neck....very nice tone with a real punch without any noise, expensive but if you use a Jazz or PJ live it is a godsend having a quiet bass with no pickup noise...all very nice Fender bass's...👍🎸

    This feels very much like you're getting big money from Fender. Sure, some of my favourite players played Fenders, but some never went there, preferring Yamaha's, Schecter's, Wal's amongst others. Even if I wanted a Fender-alike, I'd still go with a different brand just because this Fender addiction is really weird and pervasive. I don't do session work, if a producer doesn't like the bass I'm bringing, I'll get a different producer who knows how to work with a wider range of basses.

    Good advice to have different basses for different purposes. 👍🏻
    I’ve got a Jazz with rounds, a P/J with flats, and an Aerodyne Jazz with rounds tuned to Eb. These will cover nearly everything.

    I have a 75 Jazz with flats, I have an 81 P with rounds, I have 2001P with flats, 2012 Jazz with rounds that only makes 4 basses, but I have 2004 Squier PJ with flats and a 2014 Squier VM PJ with rounds. My oldest bass and my first and still have it for over 45 a Gibson EB-0 Short Scale. An 97 Epiphone Thunderbird and EB-3. My thing now is late 70's early 80's Japanese basses, high quality, Westone,Aria Pro ll, Westbury and Grecco. I love my Fenders and would never get rid of them, but a lot of those Japanese basses from that time table are very well made, but I'm almost 60 now and I love Fenders but with over 20 basses I don't think I need any more. Unless of course a really good deal comes along.

      Mick Karn, Mark King, John Taylor, Peter Hook, Simon Gallup, Leland Sklar, Tony Levin, Gail Ann Dorsey all joined the chat. Yes, some of those did use Fender's at some point but more famously played Wal, Status, Peavey (currently with Dingwall), Yamaha, Schecter, Dingwall (used to be with Warwick), and Musicman. So, you don't consider those bassists to be real bassists?

  • @rafaelaparicio9682
    @rafaelaparicio9682 11 месяцев назад +1

    If i were to have a "fender" bass it'd be a G&L, followed by a Musicman, the only fender proper I considered buying was a Dimension, very frowned upon by purists. But i think i probably never will own anybof those. I started on a crappy squier J. Then cort, ibanez, schecter, a kit bass I built myself... never been one for conformity. The more videos like this i watch the less i want a fender. IMO they are overpriced AF, you can get more for less with other brands...
    I'd play technical death metal on a fretless hofner violin bass or country on a dingwall six string... if i had those basses and they sounded good. And if i could play technical death metal 😂...
    Most people won't even notice a change of basses in the mix and many won't notice it on their own anyway.
