Dex your safest bet is to have a vet come and sedate Gino; trying to wrangle him into submission may diminish his comfort level around humans. Also you don't want to risk hurting him or any of you.
I could hear the despair in your voice when talking about the efforts put into the farm and having to leave it . Remember by friend, God gave you the farm, the animals, your staff and your success; he is now asking you to return it to him so that he can give you something much better :) Don't despair....rejoice and be happy to give God any and everything you have :)

Transfer Gino in a horse box, you can walk him onto it and then walk him out of it when you arrive at your farm. It would be less stressful for him.
Usually, a closed-top modified livestock transport trailer or horse trailer is used.
Must be handled gently at all time at loading. Loading must be by inclining your truck or using a non-slippery ramp.
Otherwise, hooding is recommended when required, to relive him from stress and put a collar around his neck, come back at night and guide him to your truck. The floors of all vehicles must be covered with sufficient bedding.

Dexter, please do not try to lift Gino, he's very heavy and can harm you badly. This can also make him aggressive in future.
1. Get a trailer for your vehicle. The trailer must be high enough to transport Gino and it must have a ramp. You can make a temporary ramp if need be.
2. Cover Gino's eyes with a cloth.
3. Guide Gino to the trailer without lifting him.
4. Drag and the trailer to your new farm.

Sir Dex i think you need to tranquilize or sedate Gino and place him on a big container van for transport. This will also avoid trauma and stress to Gino. Please try to consult an experienced veterinarian to have a good strategy and plan on transporting him safely to the new farm. more power and godbless
I think sedative might be safer once he is calm but please ask professionals before keep good dexter before time your new farm will be up and running and you will be right home so you can be there always
First thing you need to do is to cover his eyes using a piece of cloth. That will keep him calm and will not be stressful to the ostrich. Once the ostrivh is calm, you can either push/ guide him to the vehicle or tie him down.
We use a pillowcase over head then use wings as guidance for left to right it is pretty easy once the pillowcase is in place🌻💜🌻
Use a 🧦 sock over his head to calm him down , it will be easier to move him where he needs to be!🤙🏽

In South Africa we would put a big sock 🧦 over the head of an ostrich and you can walk them onto an animal trailer… minimal stress and danger… don’t sedated him unnecessarily as it could do more harm to him than good
Firstly: try moving Gino at night. Most birds are less active at that time.
Secondly: cover his head (can't pick you) and hold it down (becomes imbalanced) so he is less able to kick
Thirdly: as with some horses, they have to be sedated to transport. Ask you local vet about that option.
Their pecking won't harm anyone (I worked on an ostrich farm). Like Dexter said, only legs can harm. I've never experienced transporting them, but I agree with other commenters about sedation / covering eyes+transport trailer. I also want to salute all your staff for having courage, and note that Gino was very well behaved.
Hi Dexter, I'm saddened that you have to move to a new property. Though, this situation highlights your positive attitute in facing life and farming challenges.
Anyway, I think it is best to sedate Gino so you can safely transfer him.

It’s the head you have to subdue Gino. Get everyone in the room. Give Gino food to lower the head then cover the head with a cloth to blindfold him. Most animal go on their kneels when they can’t see. Then other guys can then get the other part of the body.

i know i am probably too lat to say this but the best way to transport ostrich and work with them is by putting a black bag over its head, but it needs to be dark, if the ostrich dosent see anything it calms down and you can take it any were you want without it getting stressed :)

Hi Dexter the only way to move him safely is to cover his eyes. A pillow case is what I would use, it will carm him right down.

Kung may pickup truck kayo, gawa kayo ng cage the same size ng truck bed. Pag nakatayo yung cage, kasya yung ostrich. Pag naka higa nmn yung cage, kasya mga kambing o maraming mga pato. Multi purpose yung use ng cage.

This is your friend Abdullah from Kuwait. I believe the best way to handle the ostrich is to first COVER THE EYES AND HEAD WITH A DARK CLOTH. After the head is covered, it will be possible to move him slowly by walking him and guiding him to the transport car.

Hey Dexter, just a thought with the Gino problem, try wrapping the net firm around his legs, thus giving him one leg only and restricting his power. .

You can ask your local vet office for advice regarding the use of tranquilizer. If that opinion is available, then it would be a more safe method of transfer for gino.

Build a cage tall enough in the box of your pick up then use some sore of rump to walk Gino inside of the cage

You need to build a large BOX for gino, Look some videos in youtube how to handle and transfer big birds like Gino.. so that you avoid hurting Gino and hurting your employees.

There is a RUclips channel in the U.S. who raise them . Maybe research and reach out to them for suggestions. The easiest way would be to have a veterinarian sedate him for easy transport

In order to transfer Gino I would like to suggest you bring Mini truck that has 4-5 feet high door. Don't make Gino to catch by yourself but make him to climb up the truck by himself by making him push to the truck.
I think a box is OK, like the one that carrying a horse,. But ours is people will carry this, like a bayanihan carrying and transferring a house from one lot to another.
I think..u need a vet to sedate gino..so that u can safely transfer him.. u might hurt gino in the process if u use force or man power..
Use a horse trailor if you know anyone who has one it will be big enough to move him.

I suggest to get a sedative for bring him down because if we use force it might get hurt and damage his legs so it’s better to get him down by using sedative under vet guidance and always cover animals and birds eyes because that will less their panic n it will be easier to transfer and carry

You should use the same materials from the chicken pens at the old farm to rebuild the new enclosures at the new farm so you will be at less expense and can finish faster
You need to haul him using a trailer or a truck with side enclosure. Use a ramp so he can go inside the truck… same process for loading and unloading. Another way is so sedate Gino first and it will be easy for you guys to handle..safer fro everyone! Another way is to build a bamboo cage {cheaper that way) put in inside. Hope this helps. Yah Bless!
