I'm still using the mk1 since it came out and I'm completely in love with it. It is literally a watch for every activity imagineable. I really don't understand how people can justify buying the Teric over the garmin since the garmin has every single diving function as the teric and way more on non-diving functions too. Sure, maybe the size of display is the main difference but there's hardly a difference. Plus both of them use the same diving algorithm. I'm really curious what teric users think of this, as in what made them choose the teric over descent mk1. Anybody care to share?

Go tech diving and you will find why. Garmin seems to be ok for recreational divers, if you pass your NDL problems start happening with Garmin. Try.

@@Mike.4639 No they don't. Handles deco exactly the same. I use my MK2 and my Perdix and are thereabouts inline with deco times and stops. Some small differences but talking maybe 1 or 2 minutes per stop (both same GF). What problems have you experienced?

does it work as a swim watch? For swimming laps in a pool? It would be nice if it did since I gave up on that quest awhile ago.

Smaller wrists my ass. 53mm watch is stupidly big for daily use even for people with big wrists. MK2s finally brings a dive computer to a regular watch.
MK2 = dive computer you can also use as a watch
MK2s = smartwatch you can also use as a dive computer
I spend most of my time above water so MK2s makes more sense.

I bought the descent G1 instead. It is also a diving computer and a smartwatch. You can usually get them on discount around here, and they are pretty good for recreational diving. I think the main issue with these computers (the MK2s and the G1) is that the they are rather small. This is no issue in most areas, but in low visibility water like the lakes where I live, it can be hard to read. Luckily there is a big numbers mode that helps a little bit, but it is something to consider, as many people may struggle with this.

I am struggling with which one to buy. My only problem with mk2i is that it is really too big for me! While I really want the air integration, there is no way I can wear it on a daily basis when I am not diving due to its size. Then I’d better get suunto D5 with tank pod for 2/3 the price of mk2i. While I really like the smartwatch functionality such as Garmin pay and Mk2s is a better smaller size for my wrist, it doesn’t have the air integration functionality. Ahhhh

I have a MK2 as I use it as a Backup to my Perdix AI. I am very happy with the Hardware including the screen. However, for the life of me I cannot work out the Dive Planner, it cannot be using the stated Buhlman ZHL16C surely. Can somebody look at the dive planner and explain why it is nowhere near the software such as Baltic DecoPlanner or Perdix. Dive planning is not so much a problem for Rec, but Gas Planning is fundamental for Tech, and if the planner is not up to scratch...

I've got the MK2i with the transmitter, used the for the 1st time last week for my trip to Malta.
Absolutely, brilliant watch... Easy to use, well laid out display.
My only two biggest issues with it are, for a watch that cost me €1300 or so, the display is NOT bright and sharp as what they display on their website pictures, which I find it quite misleading. Even my fitbit versa 2's display is waaay much sharper and brighter than the MK2i with the back light on.
Secondly, the buttons are big but they have a habit of triggering the menus whenever you bend ur wrists slightly at times... Soo wished they were stiffer to prevent such.... Other than that..... I'm happy as Larry with it

ALL the Garmin displays are dim like that and I agree, its annoying. Lets face it, they purposefully keep the display dim, so they can claim long battery life. Most people who have Garmin watches, complain about the dimness, but Garmin refuses to change them. They absolutely need to make them brighter AND user adjustable brightness.

I was wondering what it was as I wanted to move on from my sol and at the same time my garmin activity tracker broke.
So what you say is that this is for non-divers in the hope they will start diving. Looking at the price tag I am not sure who it's meant for. Does the diving world need (more) people who only buy top of the shelf products? Been diving for 27 years and gear goes a long way. But what I have seen Is that diving was free at a lot of places and now you need to pay top dollar to do so. I remember me and my bud crossing a field of leek first for a free dive. Now that spot is ruined and the field was cleared for a parking lot where I pay 15 euro to get near the water to share this with 100 others. So may I disagree with you on the we Need more divers who can afford these.... if the mark will become that a 'descent' dive computer is twice or more than my sol, will I then start to pay 30 euro for a dive? Back tot the thing itself; If it was given to me I would be happy with a new computer, buying...will look elsewhere.

I own the MK2i and it’s amazing. I don’t think the MK2S is worth purchasing without air integration. IMO that’s a huge miss on Garmin’s behalf. Solar charging needs to be in the next model.

I absolutely love the mk2s. Only thing which the bezel which shows 24 hours for the no fly time. Would be good if it just would be a bigger display without the bezel writing. It would look even cleaner.

Honestly, for me it's too big an investment and too critical to life support to carry it around on my wrist banging it up all the time. I'm completely satisfied with my Shearwater Perdix AI. Compared to the MK2 AI with Transmitter, the Perdix AI with Transmitter is like $560 cheaper. Comparing to the Shewarwater Teric AI with transmitter, and the Teric is about $400 cheaper. Shearwater has a massive community of rec and tec divers, I'm not sure Garmin has quite the same commitment or userbase. The major advantages I see of the Garmin are their Sonar AI technology and the support for up to 5 (?) transmitters. If I was an instructor, I'd absolutely love the Garmin. For my personal needs, it's a no.
