I don't like how people say it's for "small divers" or for women, like they are the only people who don't want to wear a 50mm hockey puck on their wrist. Nobody with any taste wants to wear a watch that big out of the water, it looks ridiculous unless you're a body builder or obese. The average male wrist size is probably between 6-7" around, maybe even less. 43mm is around a perfect size watch for that size wrist so it can still have a screen big enough to read easily.
I am 6'3, 230lbs and decent build (not fat). I completely agree with you regarding the size of the regular watch; not something I would want to have for everyday where. just too big. The MK2s is about the size of the Apple Watch and perfect.
I just bought this watch for my daughter and myself. I agree! It is a great dive computer/smart watch, that will be replacing my Apple Watch for everyday wear.
Good choice! Nora is delighted with her purchase and is the envy of a great many of the divers we've had through... I've even been tempted by it myself (but don't tell Nora) ;)
I love my garmin mk2s sandy coloured and indeed choose it for smaller faceframe and wear mine daily. I use it voor mtb, trailrunning, hiking and ofcourse diving. The mk2i faceframe was too big for my female wrist :-)
That's exactly what Nora loves about hers... and what makes it a perfect wrist mount computer and a great part of the range.... Thanks for the feedback too
Battery life is a fair bit longer than the Mk1. Nora uses it as a daily dive computer, has bluetooth turned on and it paired with her phone almost permanently. She typically charges it every Sunday and it apparently has about 30% batter left. I hope this information helps
i got the mk2s instead of saving for the mk2i, i honestly don't really need/want air integration, I've used it before and its added nothing for me as a recreational diver, i prefer my good old bullet proof SPG. i also think the smaller size will be much better for everyday use
That was Nora's thoughts too. The Mk1/Mk2/Mk2i were just too big for her wrist, and to have the same functionality as the Mk2... she loves it. We're both not a fan of the premium price your pay for AI (technical solution looking for a problem to fix?) and we both prefer a good SPG too (and the US$550 you still have in your pocket too). That said... I did just upgrade to the MK2 too.... watch this space for a more full review
I've purchased mine on Feb 2022, used for 10 dives and pool swimming 3 times a week, it was wonderful until it failed me. I had a 'Failed to read depth sensor' error message! I was ready to bring this to a 5 day liveaboard dive and it just didn't work. I had to bring it to a Garmin service center to have it fixed / replaced.
Yes, absolutely! While the 43mm Mk3 is undoubtedly a step forward, its also a step up in price too, and with sales available on the MK2s it's a fab dive computer for not a killer amount of money. I still use mine every day, and even Gary used it today (his strap broke on his MK2 yesterday).
I finally upgraded from the MK1 To the New MK2s. I LOVE the size for every day use. Feels like I took 2lbs of my wrist first time putting it on. I have dove the MK1 for a long while. I even Dove it while traveling with Scuba Radio during your awesome Dive Fest. I am happy I upgraded. Side note : I also and not fond of air integration as a small pressure gauge is perfect for me. Cheers & Happy Diving. ~Mermaid Malena
Hey Malena.... Nora is stil loving her MK2s, and I've also just bitten the bullet to buy the MK2 - should be here in 2 weeks. One of the DM's here has used pester power to full effect to grab my MK1 off me. Can't wait to try it and also then do a comparison, MK1, MK2, MK2s and Teric....
Thank you for the review. My arm thin so I like it. Just wondering how are the TTS or deco time/meter displayed? Is it easy to check by changing the screen?
The display is split into 3 rows of data, with depth and NDL the largest numbers on the middle row (on the base screen). If you exceed your NDL (but please only do this with the appropriate training), your NDL number will be replaced with your TTS. There are 3 screens of data when in die mode, but NDL/TTS will be displayed in all modes
I am a little far sighted. While diving with my suunto stinger, I had to struggle. Reading at the corner of my eye and with my arms fully stretched away from me. Wonder how is the fonts like with the mk2s.
whilst it might be a little clearer than the stinger - probably not much as there is a lot of information on the display and the 'S' version has a fairly small screen. You may need to consider bi-focal mask?
Yes, absolutely. Th display is a little smaller, but the whole device is smaller too, so it doesn't look out of place. It is a nice clear display - not as retina burning as the Teric, but clear in the conditions we dive in
Good question! It has the same internal hardware as a Fenix6 watch, which means it does have GPS and maps loaded it, as well as a good compass which uses GPS to recallibrate. I'm not a hiker (do I look like I hike?), but we also use it as a backup GPS device on the boat too..... It's a good all-round choice to me

That's a very fair point, very well made. Thank you

I have been waiting for your opinion on this before it goes on the shopping list. Methinks it may soon adorn my dainty wrists :)
Dainty little wrists Logan! Lol. Thanks for watching... We were hoping to tempt you
Thanks for the review and comment’s! Can you tell us more about battery life? Is it the same as the Mk1?
Thanks!!! Happy diving

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they were as goof for you as they were for me, and you got it replaced
Thanks for the review. I just want to buy the MK2s right now. Is it still wort it?

Good many years did you have the mk1 for? And did you notice any battery degradation?

Succinct and informative.
Thanks Dec

thanks for this illustrative video. are information clear to read compared to MK2 display ? thanks

@@DeeferDiving thanks for the clarification
22 second intro i lost interest at 0:15
Ok. Thanks for both your feedback on our video and also your attention deficit issues
I’m still curious how the feature works on trail or hiking as i do both scuba and hiking. Thanks for the information.
