Thank the gods for that. Many of us use these tales as a non narcotic escape from the mundane drudgery and stress induced misery of modern working class life.
I love it when they say really really really rural area and the closest neighbors are only ONE mile away. Really really really rural is having your mailbox one mile away and then having the nearest paved road is 13 miles away and that doesn't necessarily mean civilization at all.
It really just feels like all these creepypastas are written by college kids. They all take place in netflix's idea of a small, southern town, so all traditional authority figures (except their parent(s), because I guess them being portrayed as bad could soil the reader's perception of the writer's self-insert character by proxy) are closet racist, don't help with anything, and constantly on a power trip; the protags there are super bored and their only source of entertainment is getting high and/or drunk in the middle of nowhere; all the townsfolk are supersticious or complete skeptics of some scooby-doo monster urban legend that only their town has; and somehow, there's a negative stigma around guns and nobody carries them, because a - it's hard to build that feeling of dread and helplessness when everyone's armed to the teeth (fair) - and b - the writer's idea of guns is that everyone who carries them automatically becomes a Left4Dead 1 survivor bot so every bullet instantly goes into the head of whatever the user's looking at --- regardless of distance --- and even a 9mm bullet will blow see-through holes straight through whatever it hits. I used to look at these things all the time, but more and more it just turns into revistiting some creators' channels every few months to scroll through all the "list of rules" and artsy pastas, just to listen to 3-5 minutes of one of these before I get disinterested and leave. I feel like "The Huntsville Camping Trip (reboot)" and "Anansi's Goatman Story" are the only two camping/in the woods stories that I thought were good enough to listen back to every now and again, out of that whole category of pastas. Mrcreepypasta's delivery really does favors for the stories, as well as that "old school" creepypasta music everyone used from around 2011-2015, but those stories were just straight-up campfire stories written out and refined, while all the others feel like they were creative writing projects from someone who's never lived anywhere without sidewalks. I hate to rag on people who actually put forth the effort to write these things, since there really isn't any money in it and their presumed love of creepy stories is all that's keeping it alive, but some writers just need to stay in their lane and not write a story from the pov of someone and/or from somewhere they don't really know anything about. If I hear about another "backpacking trip" where the "lifelong" hikers hike "a few/several/couple of miles" over the period of an entire day and decide to set up camp, I might just be done.

And the closest town is about an hour either way you go.
Theres a difference between really rural and the middle of effing nowhere…
I love when the monster helps out our charachters it's so sweet and gives off a majestic and beautiful vibe off the cryptid itself
We hardly have any woods near me now, (they cleared it all to build apartments). I'm scared of what they did to the land. 😢
It's the same in my neighborhood. There's like two decent stretches of woods left and somebody smart actually bought the land so that they couldn't develop it. One of them's open to the public and the other one is like private dog / horse trails. Believe it or not, there is one house at the very end of our neighborhood that still is farmlands, they sold some of it, but they kept like one field and their yard, refused to sell that. They have horses and bought those stretches of wooded land to make trails cuz there's assholes that think it's funny to try to spook horses when they went thru the neighborhood.

Since it's Halloween, you can accessorize any costume with appropriate weapons; slutty-outfit + kitchen-knife, dark-outfit + spear, punk-outfit + random-pipe, there's an accessory for every costume: nurse + shears, cop + truncheon, fire-fighter + axe, ghost-face + massive-double-ender, freddy-kreuger + little-scalpel(scary)
