He will win Wimbledon. Or at least make the final. A month after knee surgery. Ridiculous. Even quarter final would be amazing but I'm very confident he will win or worst case lose a contested final. This is his tourney to beat sinner/alcaraz In a big legendary final tho. He won't go out quiet. This is the goat of goats.
@@StefanonymousI love Djokovic, he’s indisputably the GOAT of all sports in my opinion, but there’s no way he even reaches the final of Wimbledon, nevermind wins it. I’d be doubtful if he was fresh from meniscus surgery in 2015 or 2011- nevermind this subpar (for his standards) 2024 where his level has noticeably dipped.

There were dangerous moments, Fearnley had 2 break points at 3:2 in the fourth set, had he converted them, it would 4:2 with Fearnley on serve, which was putting Novak in a very dangerous position, which could lead him to lose the 4th set too, and it would already look hilarious, that a 7 time Wimbledon champion lost 2 sets having his serve broken in both by world No. 277
He is the champion. How he can still defeat more than a decade junior in age proves Novak Djokovic teaching him how to play tennis. A living legend Novak Djokovic stands tall. I wish him best of the luck. Come on Champion 🎉
He won 7-5 in a fourth set with Fearnley having just taken a tight third with a lot of power in his strokes. Coming off injury/surgery w two competitive late sets against the wildcard with the British crowd behind him... feel like scare is kinda fair?
@GabrielCosta-ne6rn wrong, he’s going to need pressure moments to prepare for the quarters, semis, and finals. these other players have played a couple grass tournaments in the past few weeks, djokovic has not. he’s going to have 4 and 5 set matches but it does not mean he will LOSE he is always capable of being right there til the end, even when it gets to sinner in the finals
@@edo2347 Fearnley was ranked 645th in the world at the beginning of 2024. Now, he is on an 8-match winning streak (until today, obviously) and has won the Nottingham Challenger. No one is at Wimbledon by accident.
Alcaraz and Sinner have lost sets on their two initial matches but they don't get this childish headlines. Be more professional and be thankful to have the opportunity to still have the Tennis Goat winning!
the first week of a major is always funny - all the fans come out the woodworks to reassure themselves and/or overreact to their favorite player performing slightly above or below expectations
Djokovic looked damn good apart from the end of the third set. These British boys always seem to be pretty strong on grass so not too surprised there was a slight struggle getting the win today.
He didn’t look good in set 4 either. One game he served and was down 15-40. Luckily for him he wasn’t broken that game. He needs to play better as the tournament goes on if he wants to go far.
Keep in mind that Djokovic's results have quite sub-standard this year even well before the surgery. He's not player at the top of his potential but given the surgery on top of all of it - it's not surprising. I'm still hopeful that his level will improve as the year progresses. It's not about Wimbledon, its about the last part of his career.
Quiet pathetic what Wimbledon is doing on this channel with Djokovic's highlights. Always give the first points to the opponents, although it is a set Novak has won, and also, after 3 sets on this video, while Novak led 2-1, they've shown five points for Fearnley versus Novak's two only. For first set, it was 1 point each, the second one as well, but in third set, they pointed out 3 points for Fearnley, and none for Novak. And this is not the first time they've done this.
Like many others, I want to see Djokovic win Wimbledon, tying Federer's 8 Wimbledon wins, and reaching 25 major wins. I've got to be hawkish, however. Djokovic did not move as well as he could because of his knee. His right leg seized up from to time, not going for shots that he normally would. After this match, I give Djokovic a 20% chance of winning Wimbledon. His physical conditioning isn't where it needs to be to win Wimbledon. I say this with sadness but, like I said, I've got to be hawkish.
Thx for the analysis! He does seem to be enjoying the game though😄 Let's see from match to match. Reaching quarter or semi-final would be great considering his knee surgery!
I sincerely hope that the knee won't hamper Djokovic's chances in ds tourney...seems King Djokovic is not ready to stress the leg at all. I wish him luck..!!
TCU’s Jake Fearnley hit 42 winners to Djokovic’s 34! And produced 13 aces against 14 for the Great Champion. He won 26 points at the net. TCU fans are not surprised. Jake led the Horned Frogs to the 2024 NCAA Men’s Tennis National Championship 5/19/24 against rivals Texas, also beating Ohio State, Kentucky and Duke along the way. He’s one tough Fighting Scot. All heart, ripping fast, and almost no backswing. His great TCU coaches got him ready and he listened. Merchiston Castle Tennis Academy in Edinburgh should be proud. Keep an eye on Jake’s mates Jack Pinnington Jones and Johannus Monday, too.
Although it comprises the interogative points concerning the injury status of Nole, he is determined to contend at the highest level in order to gain the appearrances. LOL, this wasn't a "scare" for Novak. It's a regular match. The video editors just want views on videos and they want viewers to click on the video (editing tactic)...haha. I would have clicked on the video regardless of the title anyway because I wanted to see the match highlights
So I guess everyone is living in la la land instead of reality. His knee isn’t going to miraculously get better over the next two weeks. He’s slicing way more to compensate not being comfortable hitting his forehand. I’m assuming bc he hasn’t rehabbed it fully yet. He’ll make it to the second week, would be floored if he made it to the semi’s. This isn’t hate either, just calling out his obvious injury and limitations moving.
Fearnley's rise has been scary good. He got to No.277 unbelievably quickly and now he took a set off Djokovic and almost took another in the 4th set as well. He's dangerous and if he keeps this up, we'll be seeing this guy in the top 100 as a dark horse floater in draws that players do not want to face.
6-4 can still be a close set, there’s just a lot of crucial points. Same with 7-5. Djokovic is just the goat when it comes to clutch points nearing the end of a set.
It is always tricky when they play someone they normally do not see on tour or in frequent matches. Good challenge, but the top players know how to adjust. Life and tennis lessons.
Serve looks sharp, movement solid. Early tournament matches will help round him into form and strengthen that knee. Id be shocked if hes not in QF with a chance to win
Fearnley’s an incredible player. For those who don’t know, the reason his ranking is low is because he plays college tennis for TCU which means he spends a lot of time off tour. Few weeks prior to this tournament he was in the top 600 and now he’s eyeing top 200 maybe even 150. Was this the best of Novak? Definitely no but novak’s got another unseeded opponent coming up giving him a good opportunity to keep his run going. Fearnley just needs more match experience to get used to playing non college tennis and he’ll make big strides.
Playing like this after tearing his meniscus and undergoing surgery less than a month before Wimbledon is crazy
