These two warriors are the sole reason i took up tennis. I am much older now, but the memories I have of Chris and Martina are joyous. They beat each other punch drunk. And they transformed one another. Martina became the best athlete and Chris became a true athlete. Mentally no one would match Chris. And Martina became the toughest net player imaginable. Just an extraordinary rivalry not to be equaled. I am so relieved that both women have remained such good friends while both have battled cancer.

Even if you are not old enough to have experienced this era first hand, you can still go back and watch the matches and enjoy the brilliance of these two. To this day no one hits a volley as well as Martina, and no one constructs points as well as Chris. She was the Bobby Fischer chess master of women's tennis. I'm surprised none of the younger players tap these two as coaches.

It needed Graf's forehand to break that rivalry.😉😉

Contrary to what you believe, everything in tennis does not come back to Mrs. Parche. Chris and Martina are untouchable as far as rivalries go. Graf herself could only manage a 17-15 lead against old Chris and Martina. Seles could only manage an 11-9 lead against an even older Chris and Martina. Graf didn't even experience a peer rivalry. When she finally got one she got her ass kicked in slam finals prior to the stabbing. If Chris or Martina had been stabbed at 19 the other would've won 30 slams or more.

@@jm7804 Graf had far better competition than Chrissy & Martina. They basically played in USA & won many smaller tournament with weak draw. Most of the girls were from USA & Australia with hardly any strong European players. Tracy Austin injury, Jeager lack of motivation only benefit their rivalry. But when Graf, ASV, Gaby & Seles came their rivalry becomes just history.

@@jm7804literally all of Evert wins came against pre prime baby Steffi then that 16 years old Steffi was good enough to kicked her ass & not losing again to her. Similarly many of Martina's wins came against pre prime Steffi but from 1987 Steffi dominate Martina 8-4 with Martina avoiding playing Steffi on clay courts.😂😂

@@jm7804 during Hingis vs Graf matches in 1999 F.O Evert joked to McEnroe that only 5 countries played tennis during her times so Steffi's 6 F.O titles were better than her 7 titles.😂😂

Seles lost to both Chris & Martina in her last matches. Lol🤣🤣
