Once again I am a tad confused that Snail skipped over some ships that I'd expect in the tech-tree. In this case given Bayern was added then why the iconic Queen Elizabeth class (including Warspite) was skipped over to go to the Hood.
Hood is by far more iconic, it's basically as iconic for British navy as Yamato is for Japanese. So makes sense they added it as soon as they found it balanced.

I was very disappointed with the Hood, it dosent seem like a bad ship it just seems like it just happens to suffer from many of Gaijins poorly modelled mechanics. It could be really fun with some fixes

Well, they said they fixed it, but I have seen and experienced multiple instances where HE shells just still store ignore water, and teleport into ship keels, blowing you up. The penetration is also bugged. The shells are missing air drag parameters, so they overperform.

It's pretty grindy because of the slim British tree, my advice would be to get the Belfast (which doesnt really have enough firepower against the Helena spam so you'll have to grit your teeth through that) and then use that to get the London, which has the 8 inch guns at the same battle rating, you then put a talisman on the London. Invincible, Colossus and Hood are all 2-3 days grind each, grand total you're looking at about a week and a half/two weeks. At this point the Hood has been out for a week (I pre-grinded the Colossus and had the Hood 2-3 days after update) so if you start now, you have at least a month and a half worth of solid OP domination until they introduce the next OP ship (it's been a little over 2 months since Kongo). The issue is figuring out what the next OP ship is going to be, if next patch is Nagato and Colorado, you can bet your sweet chest area the Nagato is going to be OP, so you'll then have to commence the next grind accordingly.
I'd argue that hood's 4" secondary and 40mm, 12.7mm were the preview of the fast carrier escort role that the British Royal Navy planned for the Hood to furfill for the rest of the war

I wonder if the Hood, had it been constructed just a few years later with the "All or nothing" scheme would have had the same issue during the Battle of the Bismark Strait. She is similar in size and displacement in so many ways to future super-dreadnoughts that her armor is very weak. That may be a symptom of WW1 design where the bulk of heavy armor was faced to shallow angle hits. It may have been a lucky hit or just bad ammo handling which was seen on many British capital ships dating back to Jutland. But, she is still my favorite non US ship dating back to before any naval game even existed in the 90's. There is something streamlined and stately about the Hood, functional but beautiful. On the other end, gaming wise, too many gamers put too much focus on a "turtleback" as being the end all of protection. If this was true, then it makes no sense that almost every navy moved away from that design in capital ships for the "All or Nothing Design". Many game designers use this as a crutch to balance early and later dreadnoughts, when in reality, a turtleback was obsolete by the midwar period, treaty considered, or even not. Even later, more advanced BB layouts did away with a turtleback in favor of a more complex, angled outer armor system. I think that we can all see how effective this was with the US navy, that employed the "All or Nothing" system, with no turtleback, but engaged enemy planes, torpedoes, shore batteries, battleships, cruisers, destroyers and the like all of the way to the coast of France, Italy, N Africa, the S Pacific and even bombarding mainland Japan without a single BB loss past Pearl Harbor. I don't know if that is happenstance, but it seems like, over the years of damage and recorded engagements, that the turtleback wasn't all it was put out to be.

Napalmratte, maybe Gaijin "improved" the mechanic that enters more water the faster you are. If you slows down when get a hole, less water will poured in... of course, depends where is the hole was made, the size, the angle, etc. I agree that for the Hood its a bit excessive, nonetheless.

I've recently finished spading the kaiser and westfalen and find that they have terrible problems against the high he filler shells that the russian and british battleships shoot. how balanced do you feel this is and do you believe these sap and he shells over perform against heavily armed targets? i know this is a game but if these shells' performance was even remotely similar irl to what we see, aphe shells wouldn't have existed
The Kaiser does pretty much nothing, when compared to the Russian ships. All ships have problem with the op sap, the most insane thing is that Russians have the 12inch sap (which is overperforming by 30% atleast) for like 2 years, from times where there were basically no battleships in game. And just now Germany finally got the Bayern, their first ship with good sap. At normal range the german 380mm have almost same pen as the russian 305mm, but Bayern have just 8 vs 12 guns on Russian ships, so the Russian ship still send more tnt with each salvo. The british atleast have big guns, so it makes sense they do a lot of damage, unlike the russians and also they were added much later.

But don't think for one second that ludicrous weapon systems were solely a British preserve, for example search for the "Zippermeyer Turbulenz kanone". A German device that made the UP rocket launcher look like the cutting edge of AA defence.
Its cool they added Hood, but why do her absolute WORST iteration? 7x2 4” guns as her ONLY secondary battery? Decent for AA but considering the rest of the AA was subpar it does save it. They should’ve given her appearance in 1939, 4x2 4” DP guns and 12x1 5.5” guns. If I wanted Hood with her 1941 layout Id play WoWs Oh yeah and her UP mounts are just decoration. So why is she in her 1941 state again?

First off the SMS Bayern is no where near as good as the hood. The guns are worse post pen and penetration wise. Its slower, less armored, and has even worse AA. So no it's not a counter its just a pathetic filler ship for you to waste more premium time on. Now let's look at the hood Amazing speed for its size Amazing guns. Has turtleback armor so its hard to pen. Its sits very low in the water making it hard to ammo rack. The only thing it's kinda bad at is AA but really if it just camps near allies it's good enough. I saw a hood player get 8 kills earlier and he one shotted my Arizona with ease while all I did was turn his hard to hit ammo rack yellow. Those 15 inch guns are broken nothing like it in the game yet. And all in all it's a very powerful ship not to mention heavy cruisers at 5.7 can't do anything to it in a 1v1. Just another classic case of gaijin being lazy with br's. Another thing I don't care about other the countries cause I only play Germany and USA so I'm speaking from that point of view. And there is no amount of convincing that will lead me to believe the Arizona or scharnhorst are good at 6.7 cause they are not. Personally I never get one shot nearly as much by the japs and as for that russian fantasy ship I'm sure it is but guess what I haven't seen anyone it in yet. But everytime I play naval now I see like 3 hoods on the other team cause just like the tiger it was popular on the history channel. I still dont understand the love about this ship. She was pretty, sailed around a bunch, and sunk in her first engagement with the Kriegsmarine pretty much, bruh moment.
She was the largest and one of the most imposing warships in the world for nearly 20 years, that might have had something to do with people's fascination with her.
Grinding usa tanks br 5.3 onwards to 6.7 and its painful. The m18 being moved to 5.7 in rb means its utterly useless. As for hood piece of shit died 1 shot obviously not a "GHOST SHELL" gaijin.

Some people like the superduper guy try to argue Bismarck was scuttled instead of sunk by British forces. It’s true that there was evidence of the her crew scuttling her, but it doesn’t make a difference as a British destroyer also fired torpedoes into the Bismarck to finish the job (by this time Bismarck was little but a floating, burning hulk)

The level of compensation is to high, if you don't have a battelship you are completely useless and the battelship vs battelship is boring as all hell

why is it on the charts when you're comparing the battleships of other nations to whatever battleship the video is about you don't include the Dante Alighieri in the charts. Also Scharnhorst has still strong armour and nasty torps with brilliant gun handling
Japan still has the magnificient Hyuga and Kongo with beastly 14 inch SAP
US atm sucks BB wise but has by far best DDs dominance - only italy suffers

First off the SMS Bayern is no where near as good as the hood. The guns are worse post pen and penetration wise. Its slower, less armored, and has even worse AA. So no it's not a counter its just a pathetic filler ship for you to waste more premium time on.
Now let's look at the hood

Amazing guns.
Has turtleback armor so its hard to pen.
Its sits very low in the water making it hard to ammo rack.
The only thing it's kinda bad at is AA but really if it just camps near allies it's good enough. I saw a hood player get 8 kills earlier and he one shotted my Arizona with ease while all I did was turn his hard to hit ammo rack yellow. Those 15 inch guns are broken nothing like it in the game yet.
And all in all it's a very powerful ship not to mention heavy cruisers at 5.7 can't do anything to it in a 1v1. Just another classic case of gaijin being lazy with br's. Another thing I don't care about other the countries cause I only play Germany and USA so I'm speaking from that point of view. And there is no amount of convincing that will lead me to believe the Arizona or scharnhorst are good at 6.7 cause they are not. Personally I never get one shot nearly as much by the japs and as for that russian fantasy ship I'm sure it is but guess what I haven't seen anyone it in yet. But everytime I play naval now I see like 3 hoods on the other team cause just like the tiger it was popular on the history channel.

@@blitzenproductions2846 I find the M18 really slow to get any speed. My m22 is so much more solid and it doesn't pull every battle to 6.7 which with 5.3 tanks is cancerous.

@@5000mahmud Bismarck definitely sunk yea, that’s what everyone agrees on. She was forced into sinking by a British fleet. Some people like the superduper guy try to argue Bismarck was scuttled instead of sunk by British forces. It’s true that there was evidence of the her crew scuttling her, but it doesn’t make a difference as a British destroyer also fired torpedoes into the Bismarck to finish the job (by this time Bismarck was little but a floating, burning hulk)
