      Yes, as a woman, I can say it should “make any woman’s day” to hear that….at least the right woman’s. Any woman who wouldn’t appreciate it, you shouldn’t be interested in anyway. It can be expressed in a respectful/complimentary way & if/when that happens, it’s an all-around “win, win.”😊👍

    I graduated high school in 1978 and as time goes on, I'm more and more thankful for growing up in that era. We had the best music in every genre. In rock, there was Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Boston, Styx, Kansas, etc. In folk we had James Taylor, Carole King, Cat Stevens, John Denver, etc. It was a very rich time, musically, in all genres.

    Haven't heard this one in years! The harmonies of the '70's and '80's are hard to beat, and a big reason why today's music quite frankly isn't as good.

    • @chuckwhite3176
      @chuckwhite3176 8 месяцев назад +4

      Your right about the cassette thing, Phil. Your choices in the '80's would have been fm radio or cassette (and maybe a dated 8-track, but those were mostly phased out by then). CD's weren't mainstream 'til the '90's. And you learned the hard way not to leave your cassettes laying on your dashboard in the hot sun, lol.

This was on the radio a lot and she and her sister also bought this album along with a bunch of other albums, and plus I had a bunch also, and this was so popular for a while, and whenever they sing, I want to kiss you all over, she would flash me this devilish grin, and it would just totally slay me, lol.

      Your right I can't remember if it was 2 or 3 albums they cut. There music was out of this world good this is the only song they did that made a major hit . Stokley had a vocal range out of this world. Hold Tight Woman was very good Devils Bite almost made it to hit status . They played at club 68 in Lebanon KY twice a month almost cost $3 to get in I was about 20 miles from there and spent the weekends there. Th lead vocalist maybe the best male vocalist I've ever heard . he did die from hepatitis and a broken heart JP can tell you about that if you can get him to tell the truth about it. Their then manager had JP to let stokley go. That was their end as far as pop rock goes they was far better at rock than they are/was country.

Thanks for acknowledging how we had to wait for the radio play to hear it. One of the improvements today is seeing the artist's name. I knew this song but not "Exile". It was listened to on what’s called an 8 track that most cars had or cassettes which were the more modern format again some cars had and later all cars had. When I was a kid Making mix tapes was an art form and almost a part of courting. You’d give each other homemade mix tapes or you’d create special ones for each event including dates. Then you and friends would be sharing mixed tapes. My sister had a collection of like 800 records all in crates. She'd DJ parties. Having boom box's of all,sizes was how we listened to music we’d take them everywhere and when you went to the beach it was a cocaphony of competing BoomBoxes. People would just carry HUGE ones around the bus, the train. My boyfriend used all his money to buy me my first one and got it with his dad’s discount from working at Sears. I was born in 73 and this song was in 76 but I have the memory of an elephant and know this one was on the 8 track in my dad’s car.

    This was on *heavy* rotation on pop radio in the day. Kind of defined a certain type of song that just was easy on the ears, even if it ended up being their only mainstream hit...before they went country!

    Not a bad tune on that record. Try "You Thrill Me".
    They were a really good disco group that came out just before the death of disco. Then they became a country band.
