  • When doing a moisture survey on drywall after water damage using the ME5, it's important how you hold the meter.
    Generally, the tendency is to hold the meter vertically because it's easier to see, but in this case, because the pads are reading from top to bottom of the meter, and we're trying to determine the height of how far the moisture has absorbed in the drywall, you want to hold the meter horizontally instead of vertically.
    Set the meter on Drywall and use the comparative scale, move from top to bottom of the wall to determine to what height the drywall has absorbed moisture. Remembering that the signal is going from one pad to the other, you want to turn the meter horizontally and work down the wall to determine how far the moisture has been absorbed.
