Identity Crisis is one of the best event comics ever published. Instead of focusing on fights or cosmic beings, Identity Crisis focuses on emotional conflict, and it's a much better comic book because of it.
Tracks:
Wngs- Knxledge
Just the Two of Us- Will Smith
Today is actually my birthday, so happy birthday to me!
I always thought that I was the only one who loves IDENTITY CRISIS having seen so many attacks on it by people who still love Marvel's CIVIL WAR which I thought was a big waste of time.
Keep up the good work man, if I can make a suggestion make a video on Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross
I think Identity Crisis is just shitty shock drama and is responsible for DC’s reputation of being dark and gritty.
Why’s that?
Must be hard being a moron
Dr. Manhattan must be hard not being able to accept others opinions.
Better than being known as kid friendly like Marvel because of the MCU.
i really liked this event. because, usually, event comics are big and are drawn out, this one's a more smaller and a personal story.
plus, i do love me a good murder mystery.
I have a lot of the same opinions as u I rlly agree with u. This is by far my favourite crisis and it highlights the problems with stories like civil war and especially final crisis which I feel r very overrated as well they try to have it with small moments they have no emotional core and r all about the fiscal conflict. I’d love a slightly altered version as a movie.
my favorite comic. Thank you for not being so myopic and go with the whole "this story is dark and edgy bla bla bla whine". I love how wally stares at the lasso at the end
Can u please recommend the finest and most emotional/philosophical and your personal favourite dc comics
I don't much like Identity Crisis. I don't like that Ronnie dies, and I don't like that they did it to Ralph and Sue. But the worst thing is the freaking art. The eyes make it almost impossible to read for me. Those eyes aren't human.
I've read this book a few weeks ago, really great stuff ;)
My favorite although it's really not a crisis
You got your publishing dates mixed up Identity Crisis was published in 2004 but you said it was published in 2007. Since Identity Crisis comes before Infinite Crisis.
Damn, thanks for catching the error and watching!
A lot of people hate this story because it's pretty dark, but I think it's great. It's not dark for the sake of being edgy, it's dark to tell a great story and advance the characters.
More like contrived drama and tryhard edgelord conflict
Nesu Noart It doesn't start with, but it has a flashy AND pointless fight with Deathstroke.
Isn't this the story Deathstroke solos the entire Justice League
But...it sucks.
Some of your videos are better than the comics they cover
Wow thanks. I disagree but that's still nice
Really, this kind of storyline was not unique, the only difference is that it was an event miniseries.
I love comics with pointless rapes thrown in just to ratchet up tension but ultimately lead to nothing
Your videos are incredibly great, keep up the great content. Thank you
2004. Nitpick.
Hey man. Just found your channel. Keep up the good work! I think the reason I think Identity Crisis is "fine" at best is because the story is UNNECESSARILY dark. Stories can be dark, but there are moments in the story that seem unnecessary and dont serve the story. Elongated Man's wife being raped, the Atom's estranged wife becoming a murderer, Tim's dad dying; none of these things matter. They are weak story points that although change the characters lives and perspective, the story acts like it needs these changes. Like it needs these dark moments. I wouldn't call it an "edgelord" comic, but it is TRYING to dark with a purpose, and failing.
GREAT VID
Never read Identity Crisis, but it almost sounds like the whole project was an attempt to "Marvelize" the main DC roster, if only for one story. Great video!
Someone please tell what the "true secret" is?
Read it and you'll see.
Identity crisis was trash wym
Great video just read the comic and I’ll admit I wasn’t a huge fan but it’s worth reading
While I stand against the women in refrigerators trope this particular storyline employed I do appreciate the point you're making here. It makes me enjoy this comic more previously my only real enjoyment came from the scope of the world presented. 😀Thank you
A guy who has the ability to stretch himself like silly putty and who has a wife named Sue? How original 😂
You do realize he came out a year before Mr fantastic existed right so if anything Mr fantastic isn't original
good to see your work. keep it up!
I just subscribed. Thanks for this very good review 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 secrets were definitely a heavy theme no one tackled with the same attention to detail as you did
My problem with this series was that it was part of the main universe, and results in the complete breaking down of the established status quo, which, in turn, led to several years of stories dealing with the aftermath...I am quite fatigued with the deconstruction of 4-color superheroes, and if it must continue I prefer writers follow the WATCHMEN model of creating clear analogs for established characters, or an alternate timeline, like in INJUSTICE...particularly annoying was that the story hinges on a trope of silver age comics being treated as if it had happened in the modern era...which it didn’t...
This event was really just another piece in the greater story that ultimately culminated in Infinite Crisis, which juxtaposed the long standing dark tone in comics with the perception of Golden and Silver Age comics. Not to say that Infinite Crisis landed, but using Identity Crisis as the spring board for that type of event was a great idea.
This guy gets it
@shut up yes, very dark stories can take place in cannon, and I’m saying they shouldn’t because they can have serious, long term negative effects on ALL the stories and characters in that same continuity...if you’re running a dark line of horror comics, that’s one thing, but not everyone wants to read years of grim stories about formerly not-grim characters...like SUPERMAN...
