prior to this venezuela never won against DR... it was bound to happen at some point it is not like we put together weak teams. But I feel like this tournament is not fair when you have the strongest caribbean teams competing with each other in pool play. With DRs strong team they deserved to advance to quarterfinals more than Cuba, Australia, and Italy... those three teams would not have advanced if the teams were properly distributed by ranking. With the outcome of this tournament, you had Japan and Cuba with the easiest path to semifinals, and Cuba was a very weak team (to no fault of their own, the politics prevented them from being what they could have been). Venezuela went undefeated in the pool of death... and we were awarded a match up with USA... Clearly they organized pool D based on ticket sales projection in Miami and not based on fairness
I know WBC needs to work on pool structure

How is it fair that Us and Japan (Both top powerhouses) get such easy starting pools but Dominican (top powerhouse) and Puerto rico with Venezuela (also powerhouses) have to compete in the fricken same pool? Unfair AF what would have been result be if Dominican played against canada and great fricken britain with their colorless uniforms and if US had played Venezuela and pr?
They clealy have better odds cause of this (Japan even easier) Everytime these teams get knocked off at the beginning is cause of this strong first obstacle.
