Aidan McAnespie was fatally shot by a solider on his way to a Gaelic football match in Northern Ireland in '88 during the Troubles. 34 years later, the family have finally secured trial into his death which will conclude tomorrow.
The trial represents the due process that the UK Government is seeking to shut down for victims, by introducing a new Troubles law which would introduce a de-facto amnesty for human rights violations committed during the conflict in Northern Ireland.
    The plans would:
    1. Interfere with the justice system, undermine the rule of law
    2. Exacerbate the pain felt by victims who have been fighting for decades for truth justice, and accountability
Soon, victims could be permanently denied justice.
“Every grieving family deserves a chance for justice.” Sean McAnespie, brother of Aidan McAnespie
The UK must abandon plans to legislate for impunity.
No one is above the law.

Where’s the justice for the thousands of people killed by Irish republicans?
i.e The vast majority of people killed during this conflict?
Amnesty international should seek justice for the tiny Protestant minority who were ethnically cleansed from the Ulster border regions.

Your bigotry screams out of that comment. This man was not a republican but a guy going about his business but you feel the need to bring sectarianism into it.Pathetic .

Loyalists killed the most civilians during the troubles. Historians and scholars have stated that loyalists literally just went and tried to find the nearest catholic they could to kill. The IRA killed many innocents but most were accidents in the line of fire. Shankill bomb? It was meant for the uvf leadership that was having a meeting above the Chippy. La mon for the loyalist police force who petrol bombed people out of their homes. Don’t forget unionists started the troubles. The first bombs, shots fired all by loyalists. The first person killed, police man killed, soldier shot. Bombs and bullets? All at the hands of unionism.

Irish republicans killed over 60% of people during the troubles. That means they were twice as murderous as loyalists. And six times more deadly than Ulster’s security forces.
The conflict in the north was started by republicans who had an irredentist claim on Northern Ireland. Despite being populated by mainly British people. Most of them Scots-Protestant ethnically.

@@raymondhaskin9449 the provos weren’t formed until 71, the uvf formed in 66. How does that work out in your head? Please explain that. Or how uvf planted bombs in 67,66 and blamed a non existent Ira. Now those figures include military. Use the actual civilian figures dumbass
