The rain & umbrella are symbolic. All those who had plan B had umbrella while him & Sandip did not have umbrella because they did not have a plan B. People with umbrella (plan B) had something to protect themselves from rain (failing UPSC). Sk too did not have his own umbrella. He was under guri's.
cut down the best part when sandeep bhaiya was telling his story, it was the best part of the series and certainly best of this episode....disappointed..
Atleast i was expecting they will talked about him, but no they didn't even mention his name, really disappointed, may be the fact they are foreigners so they couldn't connect to his story as unlike we Indians...

You all got it wrong the reason of breakup. So let me explain, there can possibly be 3 outcomes 1. They both pass the exam- in that scenario the system of UPSC is such that there is no way that they are gonna get service in same state(cadre) or even one may go to foreign country as a diplomat. Abhilash listened this argument when the guys were discussing relationships at the street. 2. One passes and other fail- in that case it would destroy the other one who couldn’t pass. 3. They both fail the exam - only in this scenario they could stay together. So Abhilash did not want to sit in the exam knowing that passing the exam might mean loosing dhairya coz in that case he would not be able to perform in the exam properly.
There was no sandeep bhaiya scene .....Like this had the best sandeep bhaiya scene....Arthik stithi thik na hai humari....Was waiting from the start of the series just for that scene.....HEARTBROKEN NOW

Achara understands human characters more than anyone else in this channel. He was not afraid to lose instead he was more dedicated to succeed. Thats why he passed and the others could not but it did cost him his personal life.
the most heartbreaking character of Sandeep Bhaiya feels sidelined. His is the story that many can relate too, giving up on your dreams because of not being financially stable and able to afford to pursue your dreams 💔
We all know they watched it but all of us were waiting for their on the spot reaction to that scene. Now I don't know if this was a clever strategy to get people on their patreon to watch that reaction but this reaction felt very empty without that scene.
I guess it also speaks to how much is left to imagination in this series. It is a series for niche audience aware of UPSC struggle not the general audience as most things like why they can't be together (e.g. in 12th Fail the couple are together) is never clearly laid out. Some clarity in needed for general Indian audience and a lot more for a western audience not aware of the harsh pressure of Asian (Indian, Chinese, Korean, Japan etc) competitive exams. That's why 3 idiots is so popular in China but not in USA.

It isn't simply about losing Dhairya. Trust me, he dreads the possibility of that. It is more about him seeing her as his option B. She doesn't motivate him to do his best anymore, instead he lost his motivation because he had her to seek comfort in his failures. Hence you see him energetically put up the LBSNAA poster back up on the wall after he breaks up with her. Basically, he went away from his safe space, freed himself from his comfort and back to the life of intense pressure.
Important thing to note here is in the last scene... The episode is about having a Plan B since Abhilash never thought about a Plan B , he didn't had the Umbrella as a Plan B in a situation where it would Rain same was the case with Sandeep Edit: I did not notice that om my own... If you could see in last scene, everyone carrying umbrella had plan B in place but Abhilash, SK and Sandeep didn't. However, SK had another chance but other two haven't. Hence Abhilash and Sandeep cried.
Clearing upsc has 0.01% success rate, and 99.99% failure rate.. So, only one in hundred thousand chances was there that both of them would have cleared.. There was a no option left for Abhilash than leaving everything for that one goal. It required a zombie like heartlessness to focus only on goal.. This is life.. Bigger dreams calls for bigger sacrifice.. This maybe debatable, but in the end he could achieve his dream.
He broke up with her becoz, 1. if they both cleared exam then they will be posted in different state. They will not able to work in same state in future. 2. If one of them is clear exam then, another one will be definitely feels very disappointed/low/regrate in his/her life and there should be problem in their relationship. 3. If they both Failed then only they will able to live together, but his dream is to become an IES office and he will not ready to sacrifice his dream for her. That's why he broke up with her.💔
It's little twisted but Abhilash Breaks up with Dhairya because he doesn't want to be okay with failing the UPSC and being okay with that just because he still has his girlfriend.He is ready to leave everything to achieve his one single dream of becoming an IAS. The character even says that in 23 days he doesn't want to go to the examination hall knowing that either way he is going to loose her so he chooses to pursue his dream.
Passing together is not an option coz if they do they they will be on the move from state to state and different ones so they never can be together and if any one passes and the other fails it will always feel like a parasites feeding off the other coz other jobs won't have that level of mobility so it's a sacrifice of job over love

@jabykoay i would like to explain the whole structure of the examination addition to this so that you can get a clear understanding of how difficult it is to become a civil servant. First you have to pass the preliminary examination consisting of objective questions. Once you passed which in this case abhilash and sandeep didn't pass. You go to mains examination which has around nine papers (optional being one) with all kinds of objective questions. (The writing which abhilash and Dhairya were practising together). The questions are from science, economics, geography, history etc. And if they pass that too. It goes to final round which is interview, which tests you in another level. The questions are very much difficult and intense (you can find the questions on youtube). And after that you become a civil servant (which are IFS, IAS, IPS, IRS, IRTS etc.) For IAS your rank should be under 100 out of 1000. HOPE YOU READ THIS! AND LOVE YOUR WORK AND ACHARA'S INTELLIGENCE. KEEP HUSTLING DUDE. ☺️🙏

The fact that they do not know what IAS really stands for and them considering it as a regular government job kills the buzz. Kristen keeps on saying "Don't listen to this", "Don't listen to others are saying. It's their experience" and what not. Girl, UPSC is a pressure cooker for real and when your mind is being constantly tormented already with so much going around you, you are bound to get vulnerable and give in to what othwrs are saying. At this point of time Abhilash's main focus was to clear UPSC so when he saw support in Dhaira he stuck with her but when he saw the possible outcomes of being in a relationship and studying at the same time he quit. Abhilash is trying to find a road to his goal anyhow, sometimes even treading the wild weed. We all are social creatures Kristen. Nobody can just shut oneself out just like the click of a finger unless you are the Buddha!

And I am not an UPSC aspirant myself nor do I ever plan to be but I could still connect to it totally belonging from a middle class family. This was perfectly potrayed by Sandeep bhaiyya which they skipped. And what I talked about was just not an Indian thing, it's a worldwide phenomenon where even many US or westerners have to go through when they appear for SATs or such other examinations. My comment is relevant to everyone dealing with pressure. Not acknowledging that is just being ignorant. Jaby himself has gone through many such phases and yet it surprises me to see that he couldn't connect with the hardships of failure and sheer dedication.

Sandeep Bhaiya is the most loved character of this series, and his conversation with Abhilash was one of the strongest emotional points in this series, would have loved to see your reaction to that part...
For all exam preparation series like this and Kota factory, it feels you are focusing on relationship more than the exam itself. In reality The EXAM is the priority over anything in life at that moment. Relationship is a far secondary part for those preparing for IIT or IAS exams. They are there to do something that has extremely low rate of success so any decision that may feel simple and stupid from outside is a big deal in that pressure. I can't totally blame you guys though just cause it's a different system. But try to focus on exam part more than relationship. Exam is the priority with relationship on side, not the other way round. It's the EXAM that takes lead over everything. Nothing......and i repeat nothing short of an alien attack or world destruction matters at that piont in life.
That dream sequence at the start of the episode was actually the whole premise of the ep4. In his dream, he was happy to fail the exam together. He knew if he/she or both passes the examination it means the end of their relationship unless both of them fail. And, Dhariya was actually a roadblock in his road to clear UPSC. They wanted to portray that the UPSC exam is so tough(they really are extremely tough) that even the slightest doubt could hinder your chances of clearing the exam. So, it was a mature decision to break up with her because keeping the relationship means failing the exam. That exam has been his lifetime dream. So between his love and ambition. Both being doubtful if he will be able to get either. He chooses ambition!
That's why people shouldn't make such recommendations to reaction channels where they can't catch the essence of the theme. The fact that they aren't as connected to Sandeep bhaiya's character as we all were is a testament to this claim. EDIT: Also putting Sandeep bhaiya's face in the thumbnail without showing the scene is just asinine.
The point of the break-up and dream was he considers dhairya as his plan-b. Like even if he fails he will be content because she is with him so he want to create sense of crisis for himself to achieve his life-goal. It's like he don't need any plan-b for himself like job&gf.

I think Americans don't get emotions the way we do! Look at how easily Sandeep Bhaiya's character has been sidelined by them...they don't understand the pressure, the sacrifice, the price life asks us to pay in order to live. They don't even realise how IAS exam machanism works....so they are totally oblivious about the passion and dedication one invests in it. Sandeep Bhaiya is an emotion that has been completely ignored by them. Sad!
I think the reason why they didn't mentioned the important emotional scenes of other characters (S.K. ,Sandeep bhaiya) is the cultural differences or should I say the experience thing because they have not experienced the real situation of this entire UPSC environment or competitive exam environment + the social constraints on their own especially when it is related to India. For them Abhilash is the protagonist here and the story revolves around him mainly,but since they don't know much about the other things that are happening with other characters and how much these things are common in India ,they might not be able to relate to it. So, I think that's why they didn't shared those scene. Or I could be completely wrong and they couldn't show it because of the time constraint of the picture & picture part as they mentioned earlier. So, relax boys(Nagaarjun meme😂): there is no need to be disappointed.😊

One thing can be understand by their reaction to this series is that they aren't made for these type of shows (like kota factory,lakhon mein ek)... obviously it's not their fault as well!
People who have been through it will understand the Sandeep Bhaiya scene. The words he spoke hits like a hot knife, those thoughts comes to my mind everyday, especially during this pandemic.
Worst cut scenes edit in this series... missing out on the most important part....and PLEASE! O PLEASE!! STOP SPECULATING SO MUCH DURING THE SHOW AND KEEP WATCHING WITH AN OPEN MIND. Maybe then you guys (especially Kristen) could have taken in much more of the show. Also, UPSC has 2 stages, Prelims and Mains( you guys would have noticed it if you paid attention to the first episode instead of saying it was lengthy). So in this episode Dhairya cleared the Prelims, Abhilash and Sandeep bhaiya didn't even clear the prelims. Dhairya was happy because she cleared the Prelims and now she has to prepare for Mains NOT because she saw someone...wtf Jaby how did u even get to that 😂.
It's not necessary that in a breakup one needs to be wrong; here both Alpesh & Dhairya are right at their own place. UPSC is not just an exam it's an emotion and it is not easy for any aspirant just to not think about it. Trust me people went crazy for it....to be honest had I been at the place of Alpesh I would've done the same.
This was the prelims exam result after that one another exam all have to appear for... Mains! Sandeep bhaiya and Abhilash didn't clear the prelims and SK and Dhariya cleared prelims but didn't cleared the mains to they don't become IAS

IAS: INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES. This is amongst the 15+ civil services whose exam is collectively conducted by the UPSC(UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION). IAS forms the top bracket of bearucratic hiearchy, they literally run the country and implement policies on the ground level.They also exercise a lot of administrative power. Its extremely prestigious in India to get selected in this prestigious service after clearing a tough exam.

U don't know what relationship looks like in Indian marriage. Family don't ever accept a boy who is lesser successful than their girl, that's why he breaking up with her . If both of them cleared it .. they can't be together , if she passes then the above one ☝️ , If only he passes eventually he have to left her because of uncertain posting in this job . Only way left is they both fail . Life is complicated AF .

Mental peace is also a thing than being in a relationship . In my case I am just 20+ but rejected girls saying I am too busy in video games but in reality I can't bear the daily expenses or mere gifts & if I can't be successful in future then eventually it will give me nothing but heartbreak .

Even if both of them have made it together it's highly unlikely that they have gotten the same cadre, same city, same state, or same profile in administration. So basically back to square one, they couldn't have lived together even if they both have become IAS officers. Note:- There are real IAS couples who somehow manage to make it work for them which isn't an easy thing to do given the fact the abundance of responsibilities on them.
They haven't understood the breakup, but none in the comments either. The thing isn't about her love being a distraction, but the future of their love is a distraction to Naveen. Even if they both get selected, there is almost zero possibility that they both be posted in the same city. IAS officers keep getting transferred all the time. That's why most of them get into a relationship after their cadre is decided.

You guys are all over the place focusing on something that's not important. Making own stuffs rather that understanding what has happened. Abhilash left Dhairya because of his dream where he was happy even if he failed. It hunted him why he was happy. Next one was even if they both become IAS they won't be able to live together as they will be serving different places. Also, he have started to feel Dhairya would distract him from suceeding. He is not the one who would envy if Dhairya passed and he didn't.
Well the writing of this series is deceptively layered hidden behind a seemingly vanilla motivational story. Most characters are flawed, especially Abhilash and even Sandeep bhaiyya. But their individual arcs are also about realizing their flaws and finally making amends for them. Abhilash IS stupid in that breakup scene and the series does intend to show that he had a negative attitude because of which he buys into the conversation his friends had that the only way for them to be together is if they both fail. But his logic was not centered on her succeeding and him not, it was more complicated than that and still flawed. Sandeep is flawed about his relationship with Kusum as well in this episode (and what happens to his relationship later that we get to know in Ep. 5) and maybe he realizes he might have influenced Abhilash the wrong way regarding relationships and goals (as he comes to know about Abhilash and Dhairya later) he inadvertently or knowingly tries to make amends for it in Ep. 5. Expect a lot of negative comments for skipping the Sandeep bhaiyya scene 😅
Guys but that’s the truth this exam takes so much of you, relationships, your confidence even your youth . Its make or break in so many ways for so many people of india . And IAS’s basically run the country its one of the highest ranks of order.

You guys misunderstood that scene so much 😂😂.. Even she qualifies and he didn't.. she cud be placed anywhere. And the job requires so much of your energy that it's very hard for her also to keep up with a long distance relationship. It's a veryy high pressured job. So only way to stay together was that they have to fail. Yes she helped and he was being selfish but this was his dream before he met her, and you have to make sacrifices to reach at the top. Well you need to first Understand what IAS job is : IAS is a top level job in india, collector of a city. one and only person. there can't be 2 in most city if they want to achieve top level Position. Why he break up:: 1. Because he wanted both of them to become IAS officer, but as he thinks about the life after becoming IAS officer it's very hard to get posted in same city or into neighboring City. It was like they might have to separated after becoming IAS if both Passed. 2. His dreams represents his inner feelings which was also changing .. IAS exam is a years of hard work, before dhairya he was only thinking about dreaming about becoming IAS, but now he was happy even if they didn't become IAS. 3. It Was not Like exam is only after 25 days.. it was pre exam if they cleared then there will be mains which will take around 6 months from his break up...that's why he can't wait cause he was sure he will qualify Pre as he did before but need to study focused for mains. 4. You need to understand it was His last attempt.. It is not about just Job it is about passion some people dream about it... they put everything on stake ... it was hard for him to change whatever he is working for..it's not like he decided to give excam one day it was years of dreams 5 years 10 years even when he was in school.
U will notice that the characters who don't have umbrella doesn't have any plan b for their life and characters with umbrella have a plan b in their life
Many people just missed the great symbolism in this episode. The episode was all about Plan B. Most of the aspirants had a Plan B. Symbolically, the rain was the result of the examination and all those who had a Plan B had an umbrella. Abhilash and Sandeep bhaiyya didn’t have any Plan B. So they didn’t have any umbrella and thus, drenched in the rain. Even SK had to come under the umbrella of Guri as he didn’t have one either. In a country like India it’s very tough to get a job. Abhilash took the risk of leaving the job just to clear the UPSC Civil Services Exam. Even Sandeep bhaiyya took so much risk in his life and had limited capital to afford coaching. And even after so many attempts (that too are limited and different for people belonging to different categories under reservation policy of the country) one fails again to clear the exam it just breaks down your self-confidence bruh. That’s not only with UPSC but with any other competitive exam or anything you’ve always wanted so desperately in your life.
I mean she pulled him up from where he was but still they both failed in that exam. So she definitely helped her but it wasn't enough to make them pass. So what Kristen said that they would've passed the later exam coz she was tutoring him is not certain. He might not have passed like he didn't in that exam.
*Kristen-- if one of them clears the exam, the other stays there. If both clear the exam, there is no guarantee that they will have the same posting. If both of them fail, it means compromising their goal to stay 'happy'. I bet that convo wouldnt have happend if the girl broke up with him insted of the opposite*
Sandeep brother is an emotion. You did not pay much attention to his part. Sandeep brother is like an idol for Abhilash and he is influenced by him. Looking at how many things Sandeep brother is sacrificing also influences him and makes him realize how important passing UPSC is.
The exam is 2 pronged - called Prelims and Mains. You have to clear Prelims, only then you are eligible appear for the Mains. This scene is from Prelims results. The guys dont pass the Prelims but Dhairya passes Prelims
I don't feel that you guys will understand this as well as other series.... same case with Kota factory.... Although it's nice that you are trying to.... but it's very hard to get these feelings if u aren't familiar with the intensities of these exams
I wonder if Kristen describes her as a "Modern Day Feminist". If Dhairya would've brokenup, she'd probably say, "Go girl! More power to you, Don't let some fool romance ruin your big dream.
So here's me explaining about the break up scene. After clearing UPSC there's training at LBSNA institute, then after that one gets posted. This position could be at any remote part of India & if 2 IAS/IPS officers are married, not necessarily do they get the posting in the same city/state, let alone just girlfriend & boyfriend. Incase one of them fails, other has to go to the institute; so the separation was inevitable. Only way they both stay together is they both fail & Dhairya doesn't pursue UPSC after that- to be together since Abhilash would find another job after his final attempt & that cannot be good for either Abhilash or Dhairya in practical world.
I was literally expecting you guys would be talking about the hardship of Sandeep Bhaiya as it was the more emotional and valuable scene than the break up. But to my disappointment, you guys focused more on the relationship of Abhilash & Dhairya than Sandeep Bhaiya. This show is not just about love or life, its about values and life lesson

Two very intresting things i found about this episode were -The people without umbrellas in the rain scene were all those who didn't have a backup plan. -The tea Dhairya left was like a metaphor of their relationship.

You all got it wrong the reason of breakup. So let me explain, there can possibly be 3 outcomes
1. They both pass the exam- in that scenario the system of UPSC is such that there is no way that they are gonna get service in same state(cadre) or even one may go to foreign country as a diplomat. Abhilash listened this argument when the guys were discussing relationships at the street.
2. One passes and other fail- in that case it would destroy the other one who couldn’t pass.
3. They both fail the exam - only in this scenario they could stay together.
So Abhilash did not want to sit in the exam knowing that passing the exam might mean loosing dhairya coz in that case he would not be able to perform in the exam properly.

I guess it also speaks to how much is left to imagination in this series. It is a series for niche audience aware of UPSC struggle not the general audience as most things like why they can't be together (e.g. in 12th Fail the couple are together) is never clearly laid out. Some clarity in needed for general Indian audience and a lot more for a western audience not aware of the harsh pressure of Asian (Indian, Chinese, Korean, Japan etc) competitive exams. That's why 3 idiots is so popular in China but not in USA.

It isn't simply about losing Dhairya. Trust me, he dreads the possibility of that. It is more about him seeing her as his option B. She doesn't motivate him to do his best anymore, instead he lost his motivation because he had her to seek comfort in his failures. Hence you see him energetically put up the LBSNAA poster back up on the wall after he breaks up with her. Basically, he went away from his safe space, freed himself from his comfort and back to the life of intense pressure.

Clearing upsc has 0.01% success rate, and 99.99% failure rate.. So, only one in hundred thousand chances was there that both of them would have cleared.. There was a no option left for Abhilash than leaving everything for that one goal. It required a zombie like heartlessness to focus only on goal.. This is life.. Bigger dreams calls for bigger sacrifice.. This maybe debatable, but in the end he could achieve his dream.

@jabykoay i would like to explain the whole structure of the examination addition to this so that you can get a clear understanding of how difficult it is to become a civil servant. First you have to pass the preliminary examination consisting of objective questions. Once you passed which in this case abhilash and sandeep didn't pass. You go to mains examination which has around nine papers (optional being one) with all kinds of objective questions. (The writing which abhilash and Dhairya were practising together). The questions are from science, economics, geography, history etc. And if they pass that too. It goes to final round which is interview, which tests you in another level. The questions are very much difficult and intense (you can find the questions on youtube). And after that you become a civil servant (which are IFS, IAS, IPS, IRS, IRTS etc.) For IAS your rank should be under 100 out of 1000. HOPE YOU READ THIS! AND LOVE YOUR WORK AND ACHARA'S INTELLIGENCE. KEEP HUSTLING DUDE. ☺️🙏

Kristen keeps on saying "Don't listen to this", "Don't listen to others are saying. It's their experience" and what not. Girl, UPSC is a pressure cooker for real and when your mind is being constantly tormented already with so much going around you, you are bound to get vulnerable and give in to what othwrs are saying. At this point of time Abhilash's main focus was to clear UPSC so when he saw support in Dhaira he stuck with her but when he saw the possible outcomes of being in a relationship and studying at the same time he quit. Abhilash is trying to find a road to his goal anyhow, sometimes even treading the wild weed. We all are social creatures Kristen. Nobody can just shut oneself out just like the click of a finger unless you are the Buddha!

And I am not an UPSC aspirant myself nor do I ever plan to be but I could still connect to it totally belonging from a middle class family. This was perfectly potrayed by Sandeep bhaiyya which they skipped. And what I talked about was just not an Indian thing, it's a worldwide phenomenon where even many US or westerners have to go through when they appear for SATs or such other examinations. My comment is relevant to everyone dealing with pressure. Not acknowledging that is just being ignorant. Jaby himself has gone through many such phases and yet it surprises me to see that he couldn't connect with the hardships of failure and sheer dedication.

For all exam preparation series like this and Kota factory, it feels you are focusing on relationship more than the exam itself. In reality The EXAM is the priority over anything in life at that moment. Relationship is a far secondary part for those preparing for IIT or IAS exams. They are there to do something that has extremely low rate of success so any decision that may feel simple and stupid from outside is a big deal in that pressure.
I can't totally blame you guys though just cause it's a different system. But try to focus on exam part more than relationship. Exam is the priority with relationship on side, not the other way round. It's the EXAM that takes lead over everything. Nothing......and i repeat nothing short of an alien attack or world destruction matters at that piont in life.

That dream sequence at the start of the episode was actually the whole premise of the ep4. In his dream, he was happy to fail the exam together.
He knew if he/she or both passes the examination it means the end of their relationship unless both of them fail. And, Dhariya was actually a roadblock in his road to clear UPSC.
They wanted to portray that the UPSC exam is so tough(they really are extremely tough) that even the slightest doubt could hinder your chances of clearing the exam.
So, it was a mature decision to break up with her because keeping the relationship means failing the exam. That exam has been his lifetime dream.
So between his love and ambition. Both being doubtful if he will be able to get either. He chooses ambition!
That's why people shouldn't make such recommendations to reaction channels where they can't catch the essence of the theme. The fact that they aren't as connected to Sandeep bhaiya's character as we all were is a testament to this claim.

I think the reason why they didn't mentioned the important emotional scenes of other characters (S.K. ,Sandeep bhaiya) is the cultural differences or should I say the experience thing because they have not experienced the real situation of this entire UPSC environment or competitive exam environment + the social constraints on their own especially when it is related to India.
For them Abhilash is the protagonist here and the story revolves around him mainly,but since they don't know much about the other things that are happening with other characters and how much these things are common in India ,they might not be able to relate to it.
So, I think that's why they didn't shared those scene.

So in this episode Dhairya cleared the Prelims, Abhilash and Sandeep bhaiya didn't even clear the prelims. Dhairya was happy because she cleared the Prelims and now she has to prepare for Mains NOT because she saw someone...wtf Jaby how did u even get to that 😂.

It's not necessary that in a breakup one needs to be wrong; here both Alpesh & Dhairya are right at their own place. UPSC is not just an exam it's an emotion and it is not easy for any aspirant just to not think about it. IAS: INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES. This is amongst the 15+ civil services whose exam is collectively conducted by the UPSC(UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION). IAS forms the top bracket of bearucratic hiearchy, they literally run the country and implement policies on the ground level.They also exercise a lot of administrative power. Its extremely prestigious in India to get selected in this prestigious service after clearing a tough exam.

Well the writing of this series is deceptively layered hidden behind a seemingly vanilla motivational story. Most characters are flawed, especially Abhilash and even Sandeep bhaiyya. But their individual arcs are also about realizing their flaws and finally making amends for them.
Abhilash IS stupid in that breakup scene and the series does intend to show that he had a negative attitude because of which he buys into the conversation his friends had that the only way for them to be together is if they both fail. But his logic was not centered on her succeeding and him not, it was more complicated than that and still flawed.
Sandeep is flawed about his relationship with Kusum as well in this episode (and what happens to his relationship later that we get to know in Ep. 5) and maybe he realizes he might have influenced Abhilash the wrong way regarding relationships and goals (as he comes to know about Abhilash and Dhairya later) he inadvertently or knowingly tries to make amends for it in Ep. 5.
Expect a lot of negative comments for skipping the Sandeep bhaiyya scene 😅
Guys but that’s the truth this exam takes so much of you, relationships, your confidence even your youth . Its make or break in so many ways for so many people of india . And IAS’s basically run the country its one of the highest ranks of order.
Everybody was waiting for Sandeep bhaiya moment , but we have to understand alot of people in India can relate to Sandeep bhaiya but they can't so maybe that's why they didn't even put it in the video cause they felt nothing

Even she qualifies and he didn't.. she cud be placed anywhere. And the job requires so much of your energy that it's very hard for her also to keep up with a long distance relationship. It's a veryy high pressured job. So only way to stay together was that they have to fail. Yes she helped and he was being selfish but this was his dream before he met her, and you have to make sacrifices to reach at the top. There was no case of ego here.
But in last episode Sandeep bhaiya will tell him what you guys are saying

Well you need to first Understand what IAS job is : IAS is a top level job in india, collector of a city. one and only person. there can't be 2 in most city if they want to achieve top level Position.
Why he break up::
1. Because he wanted both of them to become IAS officer, but as he thinks about the life after becoming IAS officer it's very hard to get posted in same city or into neighboring City. It was like they might have to separated after becoming IAS if both Passed.
2. His dreams represents his inner feelings which was also changing .. IAS exam is a years of hard work, before dhairya he was only thinking about dreaming about becoming IAS, but now he was happy even if they didn't become IAS.
3. It Was not Like exam is only after 25 days.. it was pre exam if they cleared then there will be mains which will take around 6 months from his break up...that's why he can't wait cause he was sure he will qualify Pre as he did before but need to study focused for mains.
4. You need to understand it was His last attempt.. It is not about just Job it is about passion some people dream about it... they put everything on stake ... it was hard for him to change whatever he is working for..it's not like he decided to give excam one day it was years of dreams 5 years 10 years even when he was in school.

Many people just missed the great symbolism in this episode. The episode was all about Plan B. Most of the aspirants had a Plan B. Symbolically, the rain was the result of the examination and all those who had a Plan B had an umbrella. Abhilash and Sandeep bhaiyya didn’t have any Plan B. So they didn’t have any umbrella and thus, drenched in the rain. Even SK had to come under the umbrella of Guri as he didn’t have one either.
In a country like India it’s very tough to get a job. Abhilash took the risk of leaving the job just to clear the UPSC Civil Services Exam. Even Sandeep bhaiyya took so much risk in his life and had limited capital to afford coaching. And even after so many attempts (that too are limited and different for people belonging to different categories under reservation policy of the country) one fails again to clear the exam it just breaks down your self-confidence bruh. That’s not only with UPSC but with any other competitive exam or anything you’ve always wanted so desperately in your life.

I mean she pulled him up from where he was but still they both failed in that exam. So she definitely helped her but it wasn't enough to make them pass. So what Kristen said that they would've passed the later exam coz she was tutoring him is not certain. He might not have passed like he didn't in that exam.
*Kristen-- if one of them clears the exam, the other stays there. If both clear the exam, there is no guarantee that they will have the same posting. If both of them fail, it means compromising their goal to stay 'happy'. I bet that convo wouldnt have happend if the girl broke up with him insted of the opposite*
Sandeep brother is an emotion. You did not pay much attention to his part. Sandeep brother is like an idol for Abhilash and he is influenced by him.
Looking at how many things Sandeep brother is sacrificing also influences him and makes him realize how important passing UPSC is.

There's something only Indians can understand in this episode
The exam is 2 pronged - called Prelims and Mains. You have to clear Prelims, only then you are eligible appear for the Mains. This scene is from Prelims results. The guys dont pass the Prelims but Dhairya passes Prelims
I don't feel that you guys will understand this as well as other series.... same case with Kota factory.... Although it's nice that you are trying to.... but it's very hard to get these feelings if u aren't familiar with the intensities of these exams

So here's me explaining about the break up scene. After clearing UPSC there's training at LBSNA institute, then after that one gets posted. This position could be at any remote part of India & if 2 IAS/IPS officers are married, not necessarily do they get the posting in the same city/state, let alone just girlfriend & boyfriend. Incase one of them fails, other has to go to the institute; so the separation was inevitable. Only way they both stay together is they both fail & Dhairya doesn't pursue UPSC after that- to be together since Abhilash would find another job after his final attempt & that cannot be good for either Abhilash or Dhairya in practical world.

Two very intresting things i found about this episode were -The people without umbrellas in the rain scene were all those who didn't have a backup plan.
-The tea Dhairya left was like a metaphor of their relationship.
People saying mean things for this reaction should understand that everyone can't feel what you want them to feel. Stop getting triggered for not putting sandeep bhaiya in the reaction. It's his reaction, he will put what he wants to and what he likes. If you like something, doesn't mean everybody has to!
