- Here is a video of one of the many ways I like to make gorditas. Of all the ways, this is my favorite. I love chorizo con papas. Whether it is tacos or gorditas, I love it. I used store bought chorizo, but you can definitely make your own. I will leave the link below. Makes 8-10 gorditas.
INGREDIENTS
4 medium potatoes
9 oz chorizo
MASA
2 cups Maseca (corn flour)
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbls lard
2 cups hot water (have extra in case dough starts to dry out)
SALSA
6 Korean green peppers
6 dried chile arbol
3 to 5 cloves garlic
1 small onion
salt to taste

Girl let me start by saying Thank You, I stumbled across your channel and I’m so glad I did. I made this last night and my family loved it. Now I’m in California & my parents are from Texas. My husband from Mexico. My Mom past a few years ago. She taught me a lot. She was a great cook. I never made this before so I thought I’d give it a try. I was making Pupusas so I thought this would be great too. Well my 90 yr old Dad loved them ! He said it reminded him of his Mom & my Mom’s cooking. Huge compliment from him. My husband loved them too. He said it reminded him of home. I was floored because they’re pretty picky. I will be making these again. The rest of the Familia were like so when are you making those again? Lol I think we have a new favorite comida. Thanks so much this California Mexicana appreciates your great cooking and bringing back great memories for all.

My mother in law made these but cut slices into them & filled them with beans & cheese rather than adding it to the dough along with whatever she had leftover like you did. She passed away recently and I miss her so so very much! When my own mum died she came to fill the void left & while we had always been close that's when we became nearly inseparable. One of my most favorite ever people on the face of this earth. That woman could cook like crazy & make a feast from an assortment of scraps. I love Gorditas!
good thing I just ate lunch so I don't go raid the fridge now..glad to know I am not the only one who still peels potatoes this way!!
Oh there's ANOTHER way to peel!?!😜😂🤣😂My family teases me constantly for peeling with a knife still, but I always finish well before they do! Don't fix what ain't broke💜

Yeeeessss!!! Honestly that size batch would be the no share size for me. Everyone else would be having cereal. I love love looooove making papas this way.
