This is so encouraging to me as a Christian, to persevere and trust God more on my Christian journey. It inspires me to build a stronger relationship with God and I can see how faithful God is to have kept his people safe in that trying time. Only God revealed this idea to them I believe. And He made sure they survived. How faithful is our God! He is God even in hardship. I trust him More after seeing this. He who began the work in us will bring it into completion. But God's plan for us remains, that he has a better future for us , and that may even be eternity as we continue to suffer here in the world since the devil was thrown here and he exists too. When Jesus prayed for believers before He ascended to heaven, He asked the Father to keep us in it, not necessarily remove us. God gives us strength to cope with challenges that we face. I myself have faced a lot of trauma, rape and failing 3 times at Varsity because of mental illness that resulted from multiple rape incidents. My life has been so hard. I still believe in God and His goodness. He says He gives peace that surpasses all understanding when we tell Him our worries and cares. He says He cares and it's true. I've experienced the peace of God in the midst of what I was going through when I turned to Him and asked Him to be with me. He may not take away the burden ( as He wills because He has the ability and power to remove it) but can give you the strength to face any difficulty. I hope you find comfort in Knowing we are not left alone when Jesus left to heaven. We are given the Holy Spirit who comforts us now in this age when we believe.
when i was in Nigeria, i can remember being taught this. i was really young then so it was so fascinating that people could live underground. as someone who is claustrophobic, i was not a fan of it. as a Christian, it scared me that that could have been my fate if i was born much earlier. it's a shame that in the UK, no one talks about this. both in church and school. history books just talks about whatever they want to talk about. no real history in the books

Brought back memories and luckily, I was able to explore this beautiful underground city close to Cappadochia and exploring these tunnels made me think that people then were much much shorter! I am not tall but there were sections where you have stoop down to get to the other side.. great video and thank you

I am fascinated how they built these when they were only temporary housing. Like, surely, digging the rock by hand would have taken years and years no? By which time the threat that required them to hide temporarily has surely passed right? Absolutely amazing nonetheless. Thank you.

Right? Seeing how different the stone looks, all the people bustling about but trying to keep quiet, the furniture that blocked the area of floor he ends up standing on in the video, the smell of food, fire, people and cattle... it would've been incredible
@@raynaives9804 incredibly stressful is more like it... those pathways look too narrow when you're in a hurry or carrying a load (like the injured or a corpse), and I can't imagine having to relieve yourself there when everything is so tight and cramped.. the smell might stick unless they used smoke to clean the area and everyone is gonna be sweaty from too much shared body heat in summer. They also didn't mention on the video whether the ones in hiding had a way to extract human and animal waste without getting caught.. maybe sand buckets lined with moss?

Maybe a recreation would make it feel more alive rather than desolate like this. I live in Cappadocia, you said very right. This place was built long before the ancient prophet Jesus and his apostles. At least 10,000 years old. There are many underground cities in the Cappadocia region, there are religious symbols only in the places that are connected to the Roman Empire. other underground cities are more interesting not explored much this is very sad

It sounds difficult to build an underground city in ancient times. Amazing to see though. Hope to visit here. I feel compelled to see some sort of movie with this. It was also a difficult time for the people but I'd be proud of the hard work and resilience.

I was surprised by the communication holes to other levels, trap pathways plus heavy doors, ventilation shafts that also served as wells, and cut-off water well sources to avoid being poisoned by the enemy on the surface... it was all meticulous despite being temporary hiding shelters for the persecuted Christians..

In Southern California, near Palm Desert, a city was found. A man was cutting across the desert after his car had quit. He saw a door on the desert floor, open. He went a little inside but with no flashlight he quit. After his car repairs were done he returned with lights and a friend. They walked very far under ground going up. Found a city. Found a high-water mark on the mountain with maybe five tiedowns for huge barges. This area is a desert now. They talked the news paper into an article, but then the editor dropped everything. The 2. men went to find the upper level entrances and were never seen again. Timing, during an ice age, as glacial morain is evident a few miles away. Can anyone say Endless Meteor Shower? Some of the American Indians count time from "when we came up from under the earth", also meteor history.

Remember that people were alot smaller. The hole in circular door means that there was leverage, by using a lever you could pull the door closed. It would take extreme might to open it from the outside but from the looks of it, it had never been closed. p.s. the lever would be a piece of wood, leather between the woods contact with the stone, and at the other. Animal hide or dried hide, before stripped for Leather is a pretty good/ solid clamp.

Brought back memories and luckily, I was able to explore this beautiful underground city close to Cappadochia and exploring these tunnels made me think that people then were much much shorter! I am not tall but there were sections where you have stoop down to get to the other side.. great video and thank you
I think there's a reason tunnels are low and narrow. I believe it was built like this to stop the advance of the enemies in case of a possible attack.
It is a well known fact that the average person was shorter historically, due to poor nutrition.

Right? Seeing how different the stone looks, all the people bustling about but trying to keep quiet, the furniture that blocked the area of floor he ends up standing on in the video, the smell of food, fire, people and cattle... it would've been incredible
@@raynaives9804 incredibly stressful is more like it... those pathways look too narrow when you're in a hurry or carrying a load (like the injured or a corpse), and I can't imagine having to relieve yourself there when everything is so tight and cramped.. the smell might stick unless they used smoke to clean the area and everyone is gonna be sweaty from too much shared body heat in summer.
They also didn't mention on the video whether the ones in hiding had a way to extract human and animal waste without getting caught.. maybe sand buckets lined with moss?

Maybe a recreation would make it feel more alive rather than desolate like this. I saw some drawings of how it might've been back then and it looked lively and optimistic compared to the reality of the video. Or maybe people were shorter back then?

I live in Cappadocia, you said very right. This place was built long before the ancient prophet Jesus and his apostles. At least 10,000 years old. There are many underground cities in the Cappadocia region, there are religious symbols only in the places that are connected to the Roman Empire. other underground cities are more interesting not explored much this is very sad

Remember that people were alot smaller. The hole in circular door means that there was leverage, by using a lever you could pull the door closed. It would take extreme might to open it from the outside but from the looks of it, it had never been closed.
p.s. the lever would be a piece of wood, leather between the woods contact with the stone, and at the other. Animal hide or dried hide, before stripped for Leather is a pretty good/ solid clamp.
