- I have a .25 acre pond that had the aerator break on me last month. I left it alone because I didn't want to spend $600 for a new one. Eventually the pond got so scummy and gross that I had to do something. Like a professional homeowner, I see if I can fix it myself and thats what we explore in today's video. I also add some blue dye/algicide to the pond and hop in my kayak to spread it around (and because I wanted to ride the kayak in my pond for fun)

Definitely looks a million times better, well done! I would strongly suggest looking into getting some aquatic plant life, even to just one corner of the pond.
It provides a much more stable and natural source of aeration, while also giving food and shelter to the fish and other life forms in the water. It will naturally flourish without needing to add bottled amendments..

I was initially put off by you putting dye in the pond since there are so many fish in it and I was hoping it wouldn't harm them. Guess it didn't but it seemed a bit sketchy.
It does seem weird! I wouldn’t do it to a spot I plan on eating fish though haha.

I would add a spot for him so we could both go camping! Sounds not possible but I have a plan haha
That’s a capacitor on the side of the motor. If your motor ever stops working again check that first.

I’m confused how someone just made a pond. Does that mean there’s like tarp underneath so the water doesn’t just dissolve into the ground?
Some soils can hold water if they have heavy clay content. Or could use a liner. Or could lay out a bunch of bentonite.
Yes lots a clay around! Its about 2 feet lower in water level than normal so I’m hoping for a lot of rain before the winter😅
