Even as I actively sought out this and wanted to hear the Dies Irae in movies I hadn't expected, my god, this gave me chills and anxiety. Great work finding and marking all this. Have to stop listening before I get too stressed out. :)
I wonder why it was used there in Wreck-It Ralph. It sounds to me (a non-expert) like it was inverted, and it sounds triumphant, so is it to symbolize how he's thinking about being born again as part of society, after effectively being dead his whole life?
the Type 1 heard in the intro to the shining is my absolute favorite. I play it in my car on a mix that has a bunch of Kubrick movie scores. Wendy Carlos and her producer Rachel Elkind are the shit!
Possibly Ring (1998) when Asakawa is emptying Ryuji's water buckets at the well, also the music when dates appear on the screen could be a nod as well. And Ring: Kanzenban has it in some of the music.
I believe this is used in the beginning of the Fire Nation theme in Avatar when they appear. It could also possibly be in the beginning notes in the Game Over sound for the original Sonic the Hedgehog game as a variation, among other things.
Is there any chance that David Lynch's Mulholland Drive main theme by Angelo Badalamenti is a slower variation? I always found it somewhat similar, although the melody is not the same. Maybe the structure. I don't know, I have a good ear, but I'm absolutely no music expert. Great work these videos anyway! It's impressive how Dies irae got used so many times.
You're not wrong! I try to include every musical version of the Dies Irae I can find, regardless of the dramatic content...it just so happens that so many of them happen to be "dark" in emotion.
@@jcdenton7242 mining the world of film music never ends! I'm actually working on Vol. 12 right now, so if you hear any more new ones, please let me know. I just heard one in the new season of Stranger Things, for example.
Greetings Mr Ludwig. It's not a coincidence that this music is played in so many major Hollywood movies. Check out the second video of Apocalipsis i posted on my channel "Quitando el velo" It's in spanish, but just scroll to the pictures portion of the video. Minute (3:25) You may be able to figure it out. Basically you see a whole bunch of Hollywood stars doing symbols for the number of the beast, or 666 as a symbol of worship and allegiance to the devil, as well as other variations of the same symbol, which include the letter V above the eye, which represents the number 6 and the devil (Hebrew Gematria and one eye symbolism which represents lucifer) God's Word Is very Real. The Holy Bible is the only Book which prophesized about the number 666, directly identifying it as the devil's government's number. the number 6 is the number of man, who was created on the sixth day. Man is destined to die after a short period of time on earth. The number 666 would mean man man man, or Spiritually speaking, death death death. In contrast, God's number is 7. According To God's Word, There Is God The Father, God The Son (Jesus Christ) And The Holy Spirit. If we assign a number 7 to each, we would get 777, or Life Life Life, instead of 666 or death death death. All of these movies use this music as a subtle worship of death. The author of death is lucifer, so in reality it is worship of the devil hidden in plain sight of the audience, but not hidden to those in charge of the movie's production. Remember Jesus Loves you and Died on the cross for our sins, so that whosoever Accepts His Sacrifice may have Eternal Life.
the force theme combined with dias irae is quite poetic when you think about it
I feel like John Williams has an addiction to Dias Iraes
I can relate, i have an additional to this theme as well
It's a perfect theme for sadness
Hans Zimmer too
It does work really well, so there are worse addictions
The game Dead by Daylight uses this theme too. Can't believe I never realized
Yes...someone else just suggested it, and I put in my most recent video (vol 6): ruclips.net/video/IcsCY3A6tm0/видео.html
Just realised the same thing while in the menu of it last night and it's reawakened my interest
And Identity V

Really like the first type, it's the most menacing of the lot.
It was used in Phantom of the Opera too.. Phantom was singing it while fleeing the angry mob after he murdered Piangi
I wonder why it was used there in Wreck-It Ralph.

Huge effort. Good job and thank you. 😊
thanks!

Great video. I love learning more about music and movies as much as I can and this helps tremendously. 👍 great work
The Road to El Dorado uses something like this for Cortez's theme!
I agree...and I put it in volume 3a (ruclips.net/video/naeVbV8cNzw/видео.html)!
So "making Christmas" is just the tag from Dies Irae...
The one from lord of the rings always gives me a chill.

Great video
Also sounds in Sleeping with the Enemy
The Car 1977 also has a similar one

anyone know what song used in the intro for this one ruclips.net/video/6KvMLo5gbqU/видео.html
ok OK, fine. I'll watch more Kubrick. geez, ya didn't have to twist my arm.
😂😂
You forgot Xenosaga's song of nephilim. No doubt in my mind that game is a movie.
I think John Carpenters The Fog soundtrack he wrote hides this.
Hmmm....I just watched this recently and didn't track it, but I'll happily give it another chance!
Does the one in Wreck it Ralph counts? I mean it wasn´t a dark scene
