    This’s the most beautiful tandoor oven I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen them a lot as I’m from Bangladesh (currently, living in Brisbane). In my home country these ovens are very common; specially in large cities every restaurant has one, I guess! I think you should try making naan breads! Cheers, man!

    With traditional yogurt and spice treatment you have a healthier and tasty moist chicken. Save the butter for pastries.

    Roel, you should make bread in the tandoor, where you slap it on the inside of the oven and it sticks to bake in very little time. In Turkmenistan, where I met my wife, there are tandoors outside in every housing area where people cook some amazing things, and they are so efficient with fuel. I hope you put this piece in regular rotation in your cooking!

    • @A7xeno
      @A7xeno 3 года назад

      They do the same in India. It's called Tandoori roti. Basically flatten the wheat dough into a thin circle and slap it inside the walls of tandoors.

    The thing is (mind you, I’ve never been to The Subcontinent, so this might just be a New York thing) but all of the tandoori chicken that I’ve ever had has been on the bone, but skinless. Were you following a traditional recipe that called for leaving the skin on, or simply following your clearly well-honed carnivorous instincts?

    The word Tandoor (Urdu) comes from the Persian word Tanoor. Both words literally mean "oven". The word tandoori is the adjective derived from the noun - meaning "of or related to a Tandoor"; a tandoori chicken being a chicken cooked in a tandoor. So calling it a "tandoori oven" is like saying "actual fact" or "blatantly obvious" - i.e. It is a redundant expression. Having said that, the chicken looked delicious!
