Gerry Braatz The top hinge is in the way and it is also much easier to cut out this shape and it helps to micro adjust the height of the wing according to humidity changes and possible deformation. Thanks for watching!
It occurs to me that a nice big fender washer under the wings could serve as a (fairly) reliable - and less visible - "stop" for the fold-out support arms. A large center opening on those washers would make a good landing spot for the heads of the adjustment bolts. Just a thought. (And less machining! Alternative: Embedded magnets!!)
I've watched about half a dozen miter saw table videos and this one comes closest to what I want to build. I don't really get the table designs that have run-in and run-out sections the lengths of airport runways. I NEVER cut anything longer than 10 feet, and most of the time it is 8 foot or less. So basically, anything more than 4 feet from the blade is a complete waste, and in the very rare cases where the wood might be longer, I could simply clamp it prior to cutting. Moreover, my shop area is too small for a permanent, fixed table. Your mobile, folding table makes perfect sense. Kudos.
I'm glad for the technology that allowed me to view at 2x speed and mute the sound. Yours is a nice, direct solution to the miter saw station problem though I'll put a shop vac and cyclone in the base, line that cavity with a sound deadening board, and make access from the rear. I envision a broader center section with casters extending laterally beyond the box to increase stability. Thanks for posting your build. Many other designs are far too elaborate.
Putting aside the artistry of the build, which is superb, the video was extremely well done and instructive. Among the very best I have seen. You are very gifted.
This reminds me of Brad Rodriguez's stand but he doesn't have a video showing how he made it. This was an excellent build, thanks for the video!! Got a ton of ideas from it.
Thank you! , yeah Brad made one, April Wilkerson made one, But I think the first one was made by Anna White probably 8 years ago. this is just an improved, sturdier version of theirs with my own twist on it.
you are correct,it is the ultimate mobile mitre saw station,it must have taken many hour's of thought and lot's and lot's of sketches before you finally camera up with the finished plan,it obviously took a lot of careful measurements to get it so accurate, but definatley a job well done, well worth my admiration, and gets my thumbs up
😮great set up. Lots of thought, planingand great skills. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience for us all lovers of the working tools. 👍👐👍
I would like to say thank you for inspiring others like myself by sharing your knowledge on video. I built my own version of this mobile miter saw table after watching this video.
I really enjoyed this build. I can see you put a lot of thought into it and what you needed out of it. Honestly I’d buy something like that based on its quality. Well done.
Very nice build. I can certainly appreciate the dowel construction you employed. I worked in the furniture industry many years and the first company I worked at produced accent pieces in a production environment using bore and dowel construction. Very difficult to keep everything lined up perfectly. Great job.
Love the idea of using bolts as levelers @6:25 gonna do that to mine when I finally decide to get rid of these metal and mdf store bought tool stands good stuff as always bro!
I really like this project. I keep my saw just on the bench and have blocks that i throw under longer pieces of wood to keep them level when cutting. I think it may be time to step up my game and make a dedicated station like this.
Superlative! The full extension drawer slides and drawers really make it for me. I added vertical panel separators in each drawer. My top drawer is only 3" for accessories. I have so many beautiful cut-offs I can now organize them on the fly. The semi-torsion table wings create even more cut-off storage and stay put even when folded. I'm cutting PVC porch trim so I added pneumatic casters so I can roll over the lawn to be close to the action. And I added a dust "control" hood (similar to Bob's at I Like To Make Stuff) employing both negative pressure (suction) and positive pressure below and behind the saw (redirected from ShopVac blower exhaust), baffles, Venturi Effect, Saw-stache, custom overlapped hanging flaps, magnet held front wall (conceals location of side and top PVC pipes with holes drilled to direct positive airflow to into dust chamber and vacuum port. Front wall vertical flaps further enclose the dust chamber and prevent any chips from coming out. The dust "control" hood totally sucks. My darling GREEN thumb bride doesn't want any PVC sawdust in her flower gardens or lawn. Nothing escapes the dust "control" hood, not even the smell of cutting PVC. Thanks for the inspiration.
i love this build, very inspirational; simple, clean, strong and true, without complicated advanced joinery that exceeds my current ability. as a novice woodworker, this is encouraging as i think i can accomplish something close to this with my modest skill set. thanks for the ideas and your work
I love the shop made drawer glides. What also works well for me is to get some of that iron-on melamine edging and put that on the wood strips before screwing them on. Throw some paste wax on that, and it's as slick an action as any store bought glides.
Gave it a thumbs up after muting the music and playing the video at 2 x speed. Quick build. That counts for a lot. Rather than drawers, put vac & cyclone in base for wider stance.
Seriously this is incredible! I love your design and your out of the box thinking, this is going on my list of projects to do for sure. Cheers from Los Angeles!
Alter, wie geil... Ne alte Ketchupflasche als Leimflasche zu Missbrauchen... Wie cool is das denn?? Warum bin ich da noch nich drauf gekommen... Alleine deshalb hättest Du schon nen Daumen hoch verdient... Der Unterschrank is Dir auch gelungen... Platzsparend und passt viel Krams rein... Definitiv beide Däumchen hoch dafür!!, :-)
The video is awesome, informative, and inspirational. Been thinking about how to go about building a similar cabinet for my mitre saw and this definitely makes me want to go out and get it done. You've definitely got a new subscriber in me my friend! And the background music, "Well I love, Love, LOVE IT!!!! Wish I knew who made the music!! Jammin'!!!"
Very nice job on the miter saw station. I like your design with it's small footprint and it's simple, efficient, well thought out, and has lots of storage capacity too. The only thing I'm wondering about is how are you going to be able to use those future drawers in the folding wings, without the contents going all over the place when you fold up the wings? Great job on the video by the way, lots of information and you presented it well. It's hard to believe that so many people would thumbs down this video, because there's absolutely no reason for that. Thanks for sharing some of your knowledge and projects (there are many of us who appreciate it) and you have an interesting channel. Keep up the great work.
Why did you use a bolt to hold up the arm instead of just raising up the wing?
Gerry Braatz The top hinge is in the way and it is also much easier to cut out this shape and it helps to micro adjust the height of the wing according to humidity changes and possible deformation. Thanks for watching!
Micro-adjustability, so he can level it as needed.

Yeah maybe. But I don't really look that much under those wings. And that was the quicker way for me.

Beautiful work! I don't think you even need drawer fronts! The boxes are perfect! Thanks!

The build is superb
Thanks Mike!

Unique to yours are the shallow drawers and the dust collection on the back which I really enjoyed. Great video. Subscribed!!
I think that's the nicest mobile miter saw stand I've seen yet!
I love this style of miter saw station. For those with limited space, this is so efficient.
Yes! its quite handy!

I really like the design. I don’t have much room for a dedicated big setup, so something like this would do nicely.
Thanks Phil!
Very nice design with clean lines
Naja meiner Meinung nach müsste das schon als Werbevideo gekennzeichnet sein. Dennoch absolut solide Arbeit !
Kermit Clein danke kermit. Ja mache ich wenn es jemand mir bezahlt!
Very good job. Congratulations and thanks.
Wowwwwww, you are VERY talented...VERY clean build as well simple and functional!!
HAHA! Thank you, you are too kind, Its just practice. I'm glad you like it!

Thanks!

I really enjoyed this build. I can see you put a lot of thought into it and what you needed out of it. Honestly I’d buy something like that based on its quality. Well done.
Very nice. I like how you took advantage of empty space for your drawers and the simple design of the drawers.
Thank you!
I'm building me one, but I like the invisible man sanding while your hooking up the hose LOL nice station I'm going to build mine

Wow! That's impressive! I still need to make a dust hood and some other stuff.
I wish I had the space for one. Great video. I see you have your orbital sander well trained. LOL
Thanks Mark! Oh man it was quite a hustle!

Suuuuuper! EASY DOES IT! HIGHLY ORGANIZED...
Thank you Adel!
@@Ollaris You're welcome. I just stated the truth👍.
Nice! When you do the next video, show us how you organize all your stuff in the drawers too.
Purveyor of Awesome some of they get organized, but the two bottom ones are for small cut offs and wood scraps.
Ollari's I find my biggest problem is small stuff organizing. So all those little drawers will be cool to see.
Nice build, as usual 👍👍👍 The workshop is starting to fill up 😉
Thanks Nick! Yeah its getting tight ;)
