Don Rich was modest and knew how good he was on fiddle, guitar, and vocals. My cousin was pals with Tom Brumley (as a pedal steel pro for Marty Robbins and Jimmy Dickens) and Don was not threatened by anyone who could play well. There has never been anyone like Don Rich, but Marty Stuart was in that league for sheer versatility and talent
Oh yeah, great version. Don would certainly applaud . The tele can certainly create the best country tone. No other guitar even comes close. Thx Leo for the great guitar. mosrite60
Every time that I hear, Buckaroo, I still cry over the loss of Don. Don was my guitar hero. I know why Buck pretty much disappeared after ‘74. When Don was gone, he lost a brother. Buck no longer found any joy in the business.
IMO, Don Rich and James Burton were America's best telecaster players. Back in thier younger days, these two guys set the envelope very high for guitar instrumentals. "Buckaroo" still considered one of Buck's greatest hits ever. mos60
Steve Starr Steve I understand what you're saying...when you have a song touch your mind and soul and you can feel it when it plays every time. I want Hank Jr's Country Relaxin played at my funeral and my wife knows I mean it. No song can describe me better. Man how I miss the classic country music from the 60's, 70's and 80's and all the classic beautiful rhinestone suits the old stars use to wear.
We just got back from Branson. The main purpose was to meet the Presleys. They are a great bunch of down to earth people. Very friendly. They made us feel like family. Scott does an awesome job of this tune. Don would be proud of him. Thank you Presleys. We can't wait to come back there.
Great version, the right tempo like Don Rich did it with Buck Owens. It just doesn't sound as good if it's played too fast, because it needs to leave room for that beautiful steel solo by Tom Brumley.
Don Rich may not be in this world anymore (RIP Don you’re missed) but his music will always live on with talent like this & those who sing & play Buck Owens music. Don was very talented not only with the guitar but other instruments as well (like Roy Clark (RIP Roy you’re missed as well). I’ve seen a interview on RUclips one time with Don,Buck & Roy (I think it was from Ralph Emery Classics (RIP Ralph you’re missed as well). They were all having a good time. With RUclips videos now all the old classics will live on.
Yeah! The guys look good , clean, trim. nice haircuts, decent clothes. They don't need a shave or haircut and their hair is neatly combed. Look at the steel player. These guys are sharp, unlike what we have today.
Very awesome performance. About the best tone i have ever heard on this tune. Played very classy and sounded as near perfect as i have ever heard. Thank you for sharing
Right there at the end when the two Telecasters were playing together.....Don Rich would sit up in his grave and applaud for that! And that guy on pedal steel aint no slouch either!
for sure the twin sounds of the teles is superb. this is an awesome version, perhaps the best ever. sorry Don. (but you're still the king of the "tele" without doubt). mosrite60
the presleys are great but.....come one dont you hear the difference between playing a guitar direct through the PA vs straight into that Fender Twin........not knocking the playing at all, he is great.......its just as listeners we are FED what people think things should sound like.
How in the heck are you fingering the A chord part? It looks like you're using your 2nd finger in there somehow? I usually play the open A string and index finger on the A note 3rd string and second finger on the C# note on the 2nd string.
I know this is an old post, but since no one answered - it looks to me like he's doing it the way I do - index on the 3rd string(A), 2nd or middle on the 4th(E), and ring finger on the 2nd(C#) - all on the 2nd fret, of course.
Why doesn't Scott use the b-bender on his guitar rather than having someone else play the same on pedal steel? The b-bender was invented by genius bluegrass guitarist Clarence White and built by Gene Parsons. Clarence could play Buckaroo better than anyone. His light fast touch that danced through this song. Pure delight. He invented flat pinking. His talent only equal to Doc Watson.
They're playing it pretty much note-for-note like the original Buck Owens instrumental. Tom Brumley's steel guitar solo comes in at that exact point and pretty much plays the same melody. But I sure do love me some Clarence.
Do you have 72K views on your version of Buckaroo? As a general rule I'm not a big fan of most Branson musicians but Scott P does a GREAT Job here with this classic. He has a great pedal steel player with him so it would be a shame not to feature him. Clarence White was a great guitar player but this video is a tribute to Don Rich and the Bakersfield Sound and not CW.
@@keithclark486 Most guitar players listen to the music and don't care what the player is dressed like. I'm listening to the Telecaster and the Pedal Steel with closed eyes. Take the visuals out of the picture completely. This is one of the best modern covers of Buckaroo. The SOUND.
@@guitarhillbilly1482 It's one of the easiest songs for a coutry player. Alot of guitar players try to steal licks not be distracted by icicles. The steel player is killer.
Great song and great playing but that is the worst sounding tele I ever heard. It sounds dead like flat wound strings especially on the low er strings. No twang
And this, ladies gentlemens is what Telecasters are made for
Every time someone plays Buckaroo, Don Rich lives again.
Absolutely!
Darn straight
Don’s playing always “served the song” beautifully, but so did his high harmonies. What a loss.
Once I found out the name of the tune, I play it at least once a day. Don's busy living lately.
Blown away in the best way, my heart strings were pulled like the guitar. Rest in peace, Buck -- Buckaroos, you're my favorite.

That's because Do Rich was not an egomaniac and didn't need the spotlight! He just played because he loved it so much!
And Marty Seems personable
Feels like dreamin' tune !
Excellent version! Just the right speed, and Scott looks like he's having just as much fun playing it as Don Rich ever did. It couldn't be better.
If I close my eyes I can hear Don Rich and Tom Brumly!
Great work on the tele, you made Don Rich a proud man!!!!!!
Scott does it the best ive heard, it's like Don Rich is picking and Tom Brumley on steel
Such a good tune.
I can't believe how much like Don he sounds!!
Great ad this tune will ever be this pedal steel player nails better than I've ever heard.
Oh yeah, great version. Don would certainly applaud . The tele can certainly create the best country tone. No other guitar even comes close. Thx Leo for the great guitar. mosrite60
yes sir for Country No other Guitar comes close
The first time I heard this was on a movie called Idiocracy. Love the song. Love the movie

Scott Presley is so talented. He is great on this tune. Nailed it.
I cannot get enough of this great song! A very sweet tight version of one of the best guitar instrumentals of all time.
You bet Chip Better than the original
Nothing says country like some sweet ass fringe.
Yes Don Rich would say this is awesome....

love the jacket!!!
I don't know who the steel player is but he is so spot on, clean and precise. Very well done.
Scott is a great performer.
Pretty dang good.
Not only sound great but look great 👍
Everytime we play it they live again.
1:37 a pedal steel guitar is required. In some states, it's law.
If not, it should be.
Great tribute to Don, Buck, Tom, and the rest of the Buckaroos.
Beautifully done
Love this....
Rest In Peace, Don Rich! El Rey del sonido Bakersfield! Respect to Presley!
Beautifully done!
Nothing kills the soul of a tune faster than an electric drum set.
Great job boys tks.THE COUNTRY TIGERS CANADA
Still listening, just saw it was 11 years ago say it ain't so ??!!??.

Yo, rug man! Gimme some tassel!
Super!
This is good music!!!!!! Makes me feel good. Is anyone else listing in 2021
SALUTE !!!! Hate to say it, but Don Rich would feel the heat !!!

Hi Tonda, if youre still out there. I hope so!
Can't stop watching you're cover of that song!!!
Ilove youre voice.
❤❤❤❤❤❤😂
just beautiful !
That's when I was with my first steady girlfriend. We still talk! Believe it or not!
Perfect!
Terrific, very faithful version. Check out Duke Levine's if you can find it.
Hi Tonda! Life's good!! Have a wonderful day, 😅😅
Proper meter, thank God. Everyone plays it too fast.
Wow nice job

This very cool!!!!!!!!
Rip buck.
Viva Don Rich....!
I see Don Rich a-pickin' and a-grinnin' .
I wonder if he is using Don Rich's original silver sparkle Telecaster, or just using one in honor of him.
Little surprised he didn't wear at least a mini cape with that jacket; could have gone full length cape.
夢心地のサウンドとはこのことですね🎵
Doesn't quite have Don' s fun-loving grin.
Still, not bad.
Don Rich would be "Proud". 👍

I think of this as the " official Buck Owens theme song" , because when I hear it, I think of Buck Owens.
cool jacket!
Are those EMGs???
You did Don Rich justice.
Good job.
Bringing back the Nudie suits.

Pretty on spot of Don Rich's "chicken pickin"..

cheeseball
god those electric drums are cringe inducing.
