Why oh why do all car manufacturers increase wheel diameter sizes with higher spec versions of their respective models. The result of having reduced tyre wall depth always leads to a reduction in ride comfort . I suppose people regard larger diameter wheels as more stylish, but there is always a price to pay due to reduced compliance from the tyres. It’s just a shame the prospective buyer has little or no choice if they wish to choose a top of the line variant.

In regards to the driving comfort I would put in perspective, that this is a non premium small SUV. Its significantly more comfy and quiet than my previous Mercedes C Class with air suspension or the Audi A3 I recently had as a rental car...my Qashqai has 19" wheels...its real relaxing and comfy...I really look forward every time I drive mine. Thats whats I want from a car, not a sporty drive that gets on my nerve in day to day driving.

Very good review. The new Qashqai is a great looking SUV but to convince me, Nissan needs to up their game when it comes to reliability. Back in the day Nissan equalled Toyota for reliability, but today that is not the case. This may be due to being part owned by Renault and using some of their parts. The top of the range model is pricey as you can get a "basic" Lexus NX for not a lot more.

Hi Tom. An interesting take on the top spec Nissan Qashqai. I am not sure what you were expecting, in this medium SUV class. I know like with most things, it is subjective, but saying the Qashqai has poor performance; I felt was in a little disingenuous. 0 - 62 in 9.5 seconds is pretty good for any car of this size. After all it is family SUV, not a hot hatch. Also, saying the wing mirror could be larger, was a pretty Petty con. What were you expecting a full size vanity mirror lol? You didn't mention any of the major features, of this brand new Nissan Qashqai; like all the incredible safety technology loaded into this platform. It can be found on all cars throughout the range. You really just brushed over those features, which I felt was a shame, as they really make the new Nissan Qashqai really stand out amongst its competition, in my opinion.

    • @OsvUkVehicleSupply

Hey Steve, thanks for your comment. Sorry that you felt parts of the review to be disingenuous - we aim to be as accurate and impartial as possible. While we were disappointed by some aspects of the new Qashqai, it is undoubtedly still one of the best family SUVs on the market.

@@chunkyfxdls1878 The post is a year old LOL. However, it has been a big success for Nissan yet again. I have owned mine for just over a year now. It is absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately this review left out a lot of the major selling points of this top spec Qashqai. To be honest, I think the review would’ve lasted about two hours if he had gone into every detail. He didn’t mention the heated massaging fully electric Napa leather seats, for instance, which are really comfortable. He also didn’t mention the heated steering wheel which is brilliant on these cold winter mornings. Neither did he mention the hands-free tailgate opening. Just kick your foot under the rear bumper, and the tailgate opens like magic. Really useful when your hands are full. he really didn’t mention any of the tech that makes this car really special. Only a few years ago, you would have needed to have bought an S class Mercedes to get anywhere near the level of tech. This car has. The automatic matrix LED headlights are incredible. Just like driving in daylight and you don’t have to worry about dipping the beam everything is done automatically. So there is no chance of blinding oncoming traffic, or even traffic you are behind. He complained about the lightness of the steering. You can get round that by setting the steering mode into sport. I keep it there and it’s a perfect weight, even around town. Other features not mentioned. Automatically dipping wing mirrors when you put the car into reverse so you can see where your rear tire is. You can set either the left or the right wing mirror, depending which side you are parking on. The rear parcel shelf fits under the false floor, so it doesn’t get in the way if you’re not using it. Regarding the performance, I have returned 51 mpg on a 40 mile journey. I certainly don’t have any trouble on overtakes. It can really shift you just have to put your foot down, even in Eco mode. I hardly ever need to use sport mode, unless I fancy a bit of fun on a bendy road. The pro pilot is brilliant on the motorway. You just set your speed and let the car do its thing. I have seen videos of it being driven on the autobahn in Germany at 130 mph. It is definitely no slouch. Certainly plenty fast enough for UK roads. These reviews really don’t do justice to the cars they are reviewing. You really need to live with them for at least a month. Not just drive them up and down a piece of road, as in this review. 🙂

As I'm sure you are aware, this car is a huge hit with Motability customers. My wife is disabled. Our first Qashqai back in 2014 was the Acenta model (with the vision pack thrown in because she is a Motability customer" Our second in 2017 was the Tekna. Because my wife has osteoarthritis which was beginning to affect her fingers and wrist in 2020 we got the Tekna T160 with the automatic DCT. This was her first auto and she loves it. I believe Nissan started off with the xtronic then after a fair bit of criticism went the DCT route, but now have reverted back to xtronic. Why? When in all the articles I have read, it seems the DCT is a better gearbox. Loved this in depth review. We are looking at the MG HS and the Peugeot 3008 but I have a hunch she will stick with the Qashqai but right now it has an eye watering £4000 advanced payment. Hopefully, things will settle down a bit before we are due to change in October 2023. But, will an EV be introduced to make even more decisions?

In Australia, the e-power has just arrived and the problem is that pricing its around AU$56K for the e-power/TI grade which is equivalent to the larger, and arguably more sumptuous and better value X-Trail e-power TI grade for roughly the same money. Bang for buck looks like Nissan X-trail wins with epower+1.5L turbo 4cyclinder.

@@OsvUkVehicleSupply It was a number of things because I had a Qashqai mk2 Tekna in black but I have to say the HUD and the boot, not to mention the new shape of lights and all the safety things that come with the Tekna. I almost bought the N-Connector but then realised that there is no auto boot opener, no HUD and phone charger. I was thinking about the Tekna + but I think it is not worth the extra cash.
I presently own a CHR hybrid but its a lot smaller inside that people think and the boot is not that big either, especially for me because I am 6ft 2" and I bang my head on the handle that is situated on the roof above the drivers window.
The only issue is that I have ordered the car but getting them is a completely different matter. I have just received a call from Ashley at Nissan in Hull UK and I have been told that the car will be available to collect around end of November 2022 maybe even December. There is a problem getting cars which I have found because I was also looking at the new KIA Sportage but eventually went for the Nissan Qashqai.

I was quite interested in one of these and almost ready to place an order but walking through a carpark recently I happened to notice a qashqai (not e power) that was 3 years old and all alloy wheels were corroded where water had got under the lacquer.
This got my attention so I started looking at other Nissans with similar wheels and nearly all of them had the same issue. A quick Google of Nissan wheel corrosion returned plenty results some going back quite some time.
That told me that it's a build quality issue and more concerningly Nissan hasn't done anything about it. What else is waiting?
They are now off my list.

FRONT , SIDES LOOK WELL THE BACK IS OKAY BUT WHY THE CHEAPY LOOKING SILVER PLASTIC CAPPING BELOW THE BOOT, looks like a manufacturing safety transport panel , as if once taken off at prep would reveal a complimentary sporty/design to compliment the overall decent shape , bet they tweak it in 23/24. ps the new engine sounds good , 7.9 secs to 60 mph plus allegedly a 15 -20 % better mpg than the 1.3 petrol

Kind of losing interest in new cars now, since the chip shortage.

really ugly is a bit harsh, it's what got my attention in the first place was the design.
