    Good point on the main caps needing to be reamed with the main studs. Sometimes the rear seal retainer needs a bit of clearancing for the main studs too.

    I was always thought when you torque down a crankshaft at three increments you always work from the center out

      Not necessarily. If you think about it, the main caps are not connected. Starting center out is for things like heads, intakes etc...

    Pete, I’m sure you’ve said it before but where do you typically get your rebuild kit/parts? Any chance you could show us your typical process for prepping and buying parts? Forgive me if you already have a video out there on this.

    Good video Pete, but please hold the torque wrench by the handle not on the shaft whilst doing main caps. 👍🇦🇺

      Great comment, thanks for noticing that, but I did it for a reason. Holding the shaft shortens the moment arm so it is harder to pull, but still achieves proper torque. The reason I didn't hold the end is because the sight window slightly rotates. I need a new torque wrench....lol

    Why are the main studs so long and I don’t believe you mentioned what which rear main seal you used. It’s not stock for sure. Which is it and where did you purchase it?
    You don’t prime the inside of the block? It really helps oil return.
    Thanks again for a great series with the sealer selection and application.

      The studs are longer for the girdle that I'm putting on. Rear seal is from 440Source. I don't usually prime the inside of the block because they didn't do it at the factory and it's just something that could possibly come off and cause a problem.

      @@PetesGarage thanks. Just an FYI I have been using Rustoleum brown primer for over 40 years and it’s never come off. The oil return is improved a great deal. It is a tedious job by hand.

    Pete, with that stroker crank, was there any clearance issues with the inside of block or oil pump tube

    Pete. Where do you get the specs from. You check the specs and tell us what it is, but how do you know what they should be. And if they were not correct, how do you make it right. I plan on building a 440 this winter for my Superbee and sure would like to know where I find these specs that you refer too. I would assume specs will be different for different camshafts, bearings, etc.

      You can do a web search for 440 Mopar torque specs and you'll find a bunch of pages.
