      I disagree as a passenger. Political talk annoys me. Whether I agree with you or not. Scent is another big one. Any kind of music will do doesn't bother me you're the driver. If you take more than 2 minutes before starting a ride where I look at my phone and you're not moving I deduct a star per 2 minutes regardless of how well the ride went.
      Regardless of how well the ride went I always tip 20%

    GREATEST ADVICE FOR UBER DRIVERS. Check your ratings several times a day, if not after every ride. When you see a bad ratong, call up Uber and block the rider. These young brats will straighten out when they cant get a ride.

    As a Lyft driver I find the rating system to be somewhat off it's easy to drop and difficult to bring back up unless your driving a lot also with so many rides in a day it's hard to say what or who may have given you a bad rating especially if all your passengers where nice and bam some how your rating dropped

    • @munchkym

      Lucas same with Uber. Bunch of morons designed the ratings systems. The motivations for low ratings from passengers can be varied and fickle. There's no science to it. You can get poor ratings from someone, for simply driving a nice car and being happy.

    • @Amythecreator99
      @Amythecreator99 6 лет назад +1

      Fun Bigly yes since my last post I have given many more rides I have become somewhat of a decent veteran one comes to driving my ratings have gone up however what I've really noticed about ratings is that what passengers don't know is this is uber/ lyfts way to push more rides so That's more money for them after a passed 200 rides my rating shot up I even met an older man who told me his rating was at 4.1 with Lyft technically this should have " deactivated " the driver but since it was nothing major he still drove and brought it up i still have small issues from time to time with people example ride share line a woman got up set because the other passengers stop was closer but she was in a rush and decides to be dropped off at a random spot.

    The best things to do is just be natural and don’t try to follow those rules and lastly don’t try too hard. When I try to follow those rules, I always end up getting one star but now I just let it go and not think too hard I am getting better rating then ever.

      I also don't have to talk much but make sure my driving skills are professional. Greet them and thank them. Talk if they start asking how's my day or if they needed some advice. Few times riders tell me they left something in the earlier rides and asks me what to do. I advised them the best I can, even help to phone to the e-hailing company. They sure appreciate my help.

    I don’t believe in the rating system AT ALL. Passengers hit on drivers all the time and if they decline their advances, they will give that driver a 1 star ⭐️ rating out of retaliation and spite. So, I hope Lyft takes things like this into consideration.

    Number 0. Rider is late and it is their fault and you can not change traffic. I had a rider sigh when a cabbie tried to broadside me and I let him go in front of me instead of hitting his car. Then 10 minutes later sighed and yelled at me for not going through a red light (that she called a green light and prefaced with 'not to be rude but...). You have no control over bad ratings. 1/4 of people give ratings and sometimes they just hate you. Don't even try to have an impact on your ratings. Just be cool

    I've been driving part time for a few months. 600 rides in and I'm a 4.98 star rating. (2) 4 star ratings and all other 5's. I'm just polite and get a feel for if they want to talk or not, I follow the rules of the road and that's about it. I don't offer an nic naks except access to a charge cord because I don't feel I should have to spend money to make people happy. However, I can see why some people do it. I believe your car has a serious impact on your rating. My car is 100% electric and it's a huge ice breaker. Most people are curious about the car, charging, cost to operate, etc.. Next thing you know, I'm at the destination. I also make about 20% in tips, which is unheard of in my city. I guess my point is, something a little different or unique can make all the difference in the world in ratings.

    Thanks for an entertaining and informative video.
    I'd like to add something concerning late pickups. For anybody reading this, has this ever happened to you?:
    You're coming to near the end of your destination to drop off your rider, and you get a "ping", a new request. You accept it.
    The rider who is with you asks if you could drive him or her closer to the apartment, or to help with lots of shopping bags because he or she is elderly, or to closer to the entrance of an airfield terminal. (All 3 of these happened to me)
    This turns out to take a lot longer than you thought, almost another 10 minutes. The waiting rider who's request you accepted calls and asks "what's the holdup?" You explain it to the person.
    After dropping off the rider you go ahead to pick up the new rider. You know you're late because you had to help the last rider. You apologize to the new rider. He says "that's okay". After an uneventful ride you drop that person off. He gives you a low rating, which lowers your overall rating. It turns out he's more upset than you thought, and understandably so, since no one likes waiting.
    So, there's 2 choices to consider:
    go to the next ride, get paid, and risk a lower rating, or preserve your higher rating by cancelling that next ride and wait for a new request. It's up to you.

    • @munchkym
      @munchkym  6 лет назад

      bariant I would say that it’s probably best to contact the 2nd pax first and tell them “it’s going to be about 10 minutes because I have to help my previous passenger with bags. If you’d like to cancel to get a new driver, that’s totally okay and I understand!”
      It’s unfortunate, but the best way to prevent it is if you can tell a drop off will take a while, go offline first.

    Theres 2 directions I love giving 4 cuts 5 minutes off my drive and the other keeps my driver from leaving me in a random neighborhood. Theres a light that will add 4 -7 minutes to my drive and it's usually fine but going home... after a LONG day of work the last thing I want is to sit at a 4 second long light with some of the worst drivers in Texas piling up. And the last navigation before my ride ends always tells people to go down this random neighborhood and then after a while it poof arrives. And my home is literally a skip away from the bad turn. I always get nervous that a driver thinks I'm trying to waste their time when I ask them to skip the turn and continue straight.

    • @munchkym
      @munchkym  7 лет назад +3

      Theresa McIntosh You’ll be notified within a few seconds what the name and ETA for your driver is. But give yourself plenty of time! The ETA is truly an estimate and sometimes it takes longer for them to get turned around. Also, you never know if you have to cancel on them or they have to cancel on you and then you have to wait for another driver. Finally, make sure to be ready to go when they arrive!
      Have a safe flight!

    I have only given less than 5 stars on two occasions and I feel both occasions were very justified. One was the driver made my wife feel extremely uncomfortable by trying to pick up on her, asking her very personal questions about her current love life (me :) ), and finally culminating by asking her for her phone number. I gave the driver three stars and I said the reason why was professionalism. I'm not a jealous person and actually laughed it off at first until I realized how uncomfortable my wife was from that interaction. I took it seriously from that point forward.
    The second time was early on in my Uber experience and I had a driver that smelled very strongly of alcohol. At first I chalked it up to someone either spilled something or someone was drunk in his car prior. This was 5:30pm in the middle of the week during the commute home, so the chances of a previous rider being stinking drunk was pretty small. I realized immediately into the drive that the driver was obviously impaired.
    The driver's speech was slightly slurred (again, not a huge red flag, but coupled with the smell of spirits definitely something to take note of) and his driving was extremely sloppy and downright dangerous at times - drifting into lanes and cutting back again quickly. I was on the freeway and I asked him to find the first exit, but he refused stating the GPS wasn't telling him to go that way. I couldn't make any sense with him so I cancelled the ride - I'd rather try to walk off the freeway than spend another minute in the car with him.
    He STILL took me all the way to the exit to my destination, but I actually got out of the car at the first red light since I had already cancelled the ride. I contacted Uber and they refunded me the cost of the ride. I have no idea what happened to the driver, but I hope he got some help. If he's drinking in the middle of the day while he is working (let alone driving) then he probably has a problem.

    There has been constant surge in my area lately, which is great. But also constant 1-star ratings which sucks. I see zero evidence or reason to believe in their so-called “ratings protection” for things outside the driver’s control. But hey I will just keep being a great driver. Always polite and helpful for all my passengers unconditionally. Karma is on my side. Can’t say the same for those scrubs giving low ratings, or for Uber who refuses to take responsibility in supporting their drivers.

I tell riders I dont allow eating or drinking open containers in my car, no alcoholic beverages in my car, no yelling at people in my car, dont put you feet on my seats, dont slam the car door as hard as you can, clap your feet if its snowing, no more passengers then seatbelts available, no play fighting on the car, no screaming in the car. I could continue. But. If someone has done these and I call them out on it they give me a 1 star rating. Friggin stupid. Shit is common sense.

    Nice vid's you are quite funny Im enjoying them.
    Keep up the good work .
    I've been driving both lyft & Uber now for about 6/wks I made just around $5000 working about 30/hrs per week not a bad piece of $$.I learned some good strategies on how to make the most $$.
    But yes it is hard work & Litle sleep especially if I'm work 45/hrs on my other job.
    It's exciting & new having fun making some $$$.
    One of the problems I have is the shared rides with lyft you can't turn them off like in the Uber app or maybe I don't know how to turn them off.(please tell me if you can)
    I get so confused when 2 or 3 people get added to the queue I have (XL)(so I can take 6) but they expect you to pick them up immediately people just have no patience these days.
    Lyft doesn't seem to give any info on where to pick up these additional riders during the original ride with the first passenger it just comes on & tells you ride added to your queue.
    I don't mind if it's a pick up right after you drop off the first passenger but I'm sorry I'm not driving back 5 miles in the other direction to go pick up the shared rider.
    They realise it & cancelthem selves or I just cancel it.
    Lyft penalises drivers significantly for it by lowering your acceptance rate .
    They drop your rating by 2% on every cancellation or missed rider.
    Not really fair if you are working in a 5 mile radius & some one request you from 20 miles away.
    That's the only thing silly about lyft
    Now Navigation, people say wayz is good but waze will take you way & putyou on the wrong side of a hotel or apartment building or way out of your way for eg you have a ride request 2 miles up the Main Street Broadway But 2 blocks off of it wayz will take you & zig zag through all of the back neighbourhoods instead of a straight shot down Broadway & then 2 blocks to the right. (Yes it's probably shorter distance on paper but not in reality.)
    I use Google maps works much better, for me but it doesn't have the warnings that wayz has.
    Since I got the XL for my SUV $$$ seems to be easy all the time,mostly corporate pick ups people in suits travelling to the airport for work they don't seem to care about price.
    The rest I could tell you another time.

The 2s were from people who put in the wrong drop off and, even though I always verify the address we are going to before I start moving, got mad at me for taking them where they told me to take them. 3s and 4s...who knows. Declining a rider request will ALWAYS get you a bad rating. So, if they want you to stop at a convenience store, stop at a convenience store for them. If they want you to go through a drive-thru at a fast food restaurant, go through the drive-thru at the fast food restaurant. Having said that, if they make a request that you are unwilling to grant, CANCEL THE RIDE. Just end the ride. They cannot rate you at all if you cancel the ride. Also, cancel the ride if they're being argumentative or copping an entitled attitude - because, no matter what, you're definitely going to get a bad rating, anyway. And, if you have to cancel a ride because of something a rider asked you to do or because of their behavior, make sure that you REPORT IT TO UBER BEFORE THEY DO.

      I had an unpleasant experience today (1/26/2021) about just this thing. I'm in Marietta Ga, and I booked a ride from 2000 Austell Rd. to 4880 Lower Roswell (a Kroger grocery store) with Lyft. The web booking doesn't allow you to add a stop (or if it does, the site hides the method); I really needed to go to the USPS Post Office at 4455 Lower Roswell Rd., and I thought I'd take advantage of the store sale. Shortly (I mean within 2 minutes) of starting the trip, I stated I needed to stop at the PO. The driver, Sonny, refused, stating he was going to the drop-off point. I said the PO is on the way, ON THE SAME STREET. He again refused. I told him to just drop me at the PO. He again refused. When we got to the intersection of Terrell Mill (Paper Mill) and Lower Roswell, he took Paper Mill. I told him he needed to turn around. He said he was going by the GPS. Now, I had lived in that area for 31 years, and told him so. He said he didn't care; he was going by the GPS. Pissed me off. That route to the Kroger is about 6.1 miles. Via Lower Roswell it's 4 miles.
      Cutting to the chase, at the Kroger I called the PD. They gave me a load of shit about how drivers HAVE TO take riders to the booked drop off point. THAT IS WHERE I WOULD HAVE ENDED UP ANYWAY. The PO is a bit over 0.5 miles from he store (maps say more, but they include parking lots. Now, I'm 67 and IN A WHEELCHAIR. Thanks to the kindness of strangers, I made to the PO before it closed and back to the store. The PO wasn't out of the way; he was just being an asshole.

      @@Hippiekinkster It's usually new drivers who refuse to deviate from the GPS or make extra stops or drop riders off at a different point than the GPS indicates. But, they get that way because of the scams some Uber/Lyft riders have pulled where they ask the driver to make an extra stop or deviate from the course the GPS is following, then the driver makes the stop or changes the route, then the rider calls Uber to complain that the driver took a longer route or dropped them off at the wrong point in order to get a refund from Uber on the ride - which comes right out of the driver's pocket. So, the driver ends up driving more, taking more time, and not getting paid at all.
      And, while it's a rare thing, it's one of those things people write about and make RUclips videos about, so they don't realize how rare it is that people will actually pull these scams. And, if the riders do pull that scam more than a couple of times, they will get kicked off the platform, especially if the drivers complain about not getting paid.
      So, there are two sides to this, but I see where you're coming from, too. That's why I just take people where they want to go and trust that I'm going to get paid for my time and mileage, anyway - 99% of the time.
      A helpful hint is to edit the destination and/or add a stop in the passenger app. Then, the GPS will automatically have the driver take you where you want to go - then, you're both happy.

      @@richardowens9061 - well, this was only my second time using Lyft, and then only becuase my car expired and I'm shopping for another, so I'm not familiar with the subculture.
      The bizarre thing is, the original drop-off point (4880 Lower Roswell Rd.)is where I would have ended up had he simply made the stop at the post office (4455 Lower Roswell Rd.). Instead, he added an extra two miles. Not only that, his GPS didn't announce "turn right at XYZ Rd." I saw him adjusting something, but I didn't put it together at the time. It's my belief that he deliberately deviated from the direct route. The trip took longer than it would have had he nade the stop. I was in and out of the P.O. (when I got there) in under 5 minutes.

    I've gotten in really bad Uber / Lyft cars & had vulgar & argumentative drivers. I usually let many things pass.....cuz I've been through alot in life and I'm not petty. I give most drivers 5 star. But......I on other hand always get low score. I'm polite. .....I say hello & goodbye, don't slam doors, don't try to pry if I see they are not wanting to talk. I don't eat in car, I don't smile cuz my teeth are bad. But, I smile closed mouth. I have gotten into cars after smoking......and apologize if I smell like smoke.......most of time they don't say anything. I will then chew gum, use a small mouthwash, or put lotion. I try not to let them see. It's just really starting to make me angry that so many are this judgemental. And for what?? So many people are petty and just seeming to want to judge & hate on others for no good reason. It makes me want to start giving others bad ratings.....and find things that bother me. Trust me there are things they do......but it's not that serious!! I think I'm done being so nice & friendly .....

They remind me of those little kids you hear crying in stores until their parents let them get their ways just because the parents are too stupid to properly discipline the kids. Plus anyone who is two-face should really just do the world a favor and avoid society all together.

    i have a 4.96 after 5,800 rides and I do those things. Every once in a while you will get requests that can test you. I had a customer say "hey waves will save 30 minutes" I will using google maps--google maps shows the interesection arrows and also you swipe for the next turn and just hit recenter--so it's perfect, as well as using satelite view.
    Now, there's no way another app is going to save 30 minutes over another especially when i saw the route lol.
    That's like hiring a mechanic to fix your car, you see he or she is using snap-on tools and you like craftsmen so you ask the mechanic to use a craftsmen :P
    uber sells this uberx as some sort of luxury car service and not everybody who drives is a full time professional driver who sees themselves as a chauffeur.
    the riders milk the customer service system. uberx is typically for the cheapskate who wants to get all the frills of a personal driver and doesn't want to pay.
    20 percent of my customers will hop in the car and start off the gab by telling me how rich i am :P lol.
    not arguing with your points though--they are spot on.
    but ratings don't translate to money so stop giving a crap and just provide service.
    uber utilizes psychology really wisely to tap into confidence and insecurity.

    • @munchkym
      @munchkym  6 лет назад

      Joseph f Some people really care about ratings and there’s nothing wrong with that. Figuring out how to be the most successful is very fun. People who do it more as a hobby (that pays) care about ratings more and there’s nothing wrong with that.

    • @egigstertroll3521
      @egigstertroll3521 6 лет назад

      munchkym did not day there is anything wrong with that. But it points to the extreme cheapskate economy in which we work. And Uber uses the system for psychological effect. Even customers agree because they can sense the form of paranoia from driver's. Just like customer service workers who are overly friendly because they are so scared of a rating. This pours over in situations like telling a minor who had a ride ordered for them and perhaps the ride was started first-there has been these situations where Uber has allowed ratings to stick, some driver's will violate rules because they know retaliatory ratings are coming.
      If driver's stop caring about the rating their job becomes much easier and ironically their rating will go up not down.

    • @egigstertroll3521
      @egigstertroll3521 6 лет назад

      I'm not saying we give bad service or don't go above and beyond, but at some level we need to tier the extra and get paid for that extra level of service.

    • @egigstertroll3521

      Ironically, it's not really driving we get judged on, it is the waitress/waitering in customer service that we get rated for. We lose sight or focus that we are a transport company not a restaurant or personal servant

    • @egigstertroll3521
      @egigstertroll3521 6 лет назад

      I will stand by my comments, and from conversations with other drivers who are highly rated drivers the 3 star =dissapointed 4-ok but had a problem with a forced comment using strong terms such as professionalism-push folks off the road not encourage people to stay on it. Especially when the issue isn't really professionalism but something petty, all that does is affect feelings and create lower morale-as intended by Ubers psychological tactics with this system. Feedback should be for serious issues not petty complaints.
      There is a bias in the RUclips celebrity group and I have seen the video on top 10 reasons people stop and they left this out--but take my word for it the pettiness and the rating system is a huge motivating factor in why driver's stop driving

    Excellent advice...
    "You never get a second chance to make a first impression."
    It take only a second for a customer to decide whether he or she is going to like or dislike you...
    The three senses a customer uses to determine your "likability" factor are, See, Hear, and Smell...
    You must...
    Look good...
    Sound good...
    Smell good...
    If it gets to the point where the customer is using Taste and Touch to determine your likability then you're probably having sex and you must first turn off the app before you do that...
