I traded in my 2016 BMW X5 40edrive for a 2020 Acura RDX. Why? Because in the last 3 years, this BMWx5 cost almost 5 thousand dollars every single year to repair, luckily it was under warranty.
bmw's will always be unreliable but the trade is 50/50 weight distribution, great gas mileage for the 4 cylinders, and status. Also their infotainment systems are sooo much easier to use than lexus, acura, and mercedes. Also, look at the reviews for the 2019 rdx on edmunds. They're abysmal.
I've had my 2019 RDX since March of this year. The infotainment system is intuitive and easy to use so I don't get why people complain about it. I totally agree with you. I also have had my 2019 RDX since late May and I LOVE this car. The new info system is easy to learn (yeah, no more messy finger prints on the touch screen like my 2016 TLX) and I also LOVE the push-button gears.
There’s a big difference between testing and owning a vehicle. Acura has offered infotainment that requires a learning curve and results in reviews of disapproval. Take it with a grain of salt. Their cars/suvs are a delight to own and infotainment quickly becomes a non-issue.
Have owned a 2020 RDX with the Technology Package for 3 Days. Took no time to master the infotainment system. Awesome vehicle. Blows away the 2017 RDX with Technology Package we traded in
The infotainment system is NOT that difficult to get use too. I also have a 2019 Accord Touring with the exact same engine and transmission. Love them both. Great buy for the money.
I agree with Ehdee ... in fact the touch pad is so easy to use ... if you are toooooooooooo "lazy" to adapt that is your problem... what is wrong here is that people take your word for it .... the obvious reason for the touch pad is that it is safer as you dont have to stretch so far ...
right now i looking at either x5 or rdx, currently have the lexus 200nx. i had a x5 5 years ago and it gave me problems a few times. rdx in blue really stands out
@@be4unvme Test drive the RDX. You will like it. I have the A-Spec version in blue with red leather. Love the ride. Also, if you want a bit more power, wait for the Type S version of the RDX. Will be a crazy SUV. Probably latest by 2022 but it could be next year. Not too sure on the release date.
@@silentstormstudios come on man we just got a RDX and the x3 would've been our other pick. Acura's we have found have a number of recall's and issues but we are leasing so if we have a problem it should be resolved. BMW's have some great reliability though that's why I'm hoping to get a used one for my first car. And the prices aren't that much more than this car so don't be hard on it for that.
I have a 2020 RDX and have zero issues with the touch pad. It took me mere minutes to get accustomed to it. Truly! The spilt screen is a none issue as well. Make up your own mind. I watched and read reviews before making my decision to purchase the RDX. I was hesitant to do so based on the infotainment reviews. I love my new SUV and have no regrets with my purchase.
Have you had any break squeaking issues? I purchased mine in August and have been having break squeaking issues since October. Took it in twice to the dealer, they confirmed the issue but was not able to fix it. Said they know of the issue and there is no fix until Acura decides to do something. Aggravating.
I haven’t had issues with my brakes squeaking. I had a Volvo XC90 before we bought the RDX. The brakes started squeaking on it so I took it in to our Volvo certified mechanic. He said I needed to get a hose that has a lot of pressure on it and wash the dust away from my brakes. He said the dust causes brakes to start squeaking. I would try that. It may not work but it just might.
@@ellamarie9709 Thanks for the reply. I think this break issue happens during colder weather only, i had no issues until it got colder in the midwest. By chance, are you in warmer or colder region? Just trying to narrow down the issue and see.

The touch pad is awesome . You don’t scroll on the pad , you touch the pad for the location that you touch matches what is on the screen . When in Apple car play , it operates different and you scroll on the pad , oppose to touching when not in Apple car play. What you stated was incorrect . I just bought one and there is not a value better with everything you get . It’s an amazing car

Took home a ‘20 A-Spec a few weeks ago and it’s an awesome SUV. It didn’t take long to get used to the touch pad at all. I don’t under why people have such a hard time with it
Don’t understand why they keep saying stuff about the infotainment system, unless you’re just slow to catch on to stuff. Or maybe because everything on the car is perfected just right for the owner? I think these reviewers needs something bad to say about something.
You didn’t even mention SH-AWD... It feels like the car is on rails when you take a sharp corner at high speed, which is VERY remarkable for such a tall car.
It’s funny they complain about the touch pad, took me 1 drive to get used to it and now it’s very very easy. I have zero complaints with it... mind u, I almost didn’t even want to look at this suv as an option because of that system... now I love the car.
I've had my 2019 rdx/tech for a month & my biggest complaint is the auto engine shutoff pointless. I always cut that feature off. I've never had an issue with the infotainment system since I have synced up with the Bluetooth feature on my phone, that way as soon as I start up the engine it automatically starts playing my spotify playlist.
Had this vehicle as a loaner for a few days. I am not a fan of crossovers/small SUVs but I was very surprised how well the car drove. It's full of tech that I found fairly easy to get used to, and much of the driver assist systems can be turned off if you prefer.
But Acura’s new True Touchpad interface, which serves as the primary control for the infotainment console, drew some fire. “After meandering into a desolate area out of range of any cell service, I tried searching for a ramen place nearby,” daily news editor Conner Golden said. “Five minutes later, I couldn’t make sense of the trackpad-based system, which was overly sensitive and then immediately unresponsive. I gave up and drove toward town until I regained service.” Automobilemag

Just bought one of these. It takes about an hour to get the infotainment system down. No screen finger prints, its awesome. A-spec model. Did add on heated steering wheel and remote start.
We have an X5 and the headlight motor went, almost 3k to replace it. Thank god it was still under warranty but they tried to say rain got in it and when that happens it’s not covered. Like why would rain get in it and why would that be a known issue me they don’t cover it. Needles to say I also have an Acura RDX and 110k later not 1 issue.
I've had my 19' RDX A-Spec Trim since July 2019. I upgraded from a 16' CIvic EX-T Coupe. I must say what an UPGRADE! I initially thought I was going to dislike the shifter buttons. However, it's been a breeze. my only two gripes with the RDX is the squealing brakes and infotainment system glitches that i'm currently experiencing. Like other's who commented said the Infotainment system is intuitive #FACT it is. It's also important to note that Acura is currently working on a fix regarding the squealing brakes which happens in the morning when I'm reversing out of my driveway. As for the carplay, that's an issue with Apple and we're waiting on a new build to be released. Car play would knock out and I wouldn't have any sound coming out regardless of channel (FM/AM, XM or Bluetooth). The current fix is to reset the infotainment system, which is far more in depth than pressing and holding the power button. Overall the RDX is great value and premium vehicle. I chose Acura because of the brand loyalty and incentives, as well as not wanting a RIDICULOUS lease payment that BMW and Benz expect. Can't wait for the SNOW so I can see what the SH-AWD does!!
Matthew Markman, I hope you got winter tires before playing in the snow! They make a much bigger difference in staying out of the ditches than any kind of AWD. But having both is the way to go.
my sister has the rdx i had the chance of driving it for a entire month. the true touch pad is actually quite responsive and easy to use. it does ask a couple of days to get use to because its a new interpretion of a mouse. i dont think its fair for the people who actually consider buying this car to tell them that is a bad system when the truth is you probably didnt spend enough time with it. after a week or so you should be able to use the mouse without even looking down . from the moment your arm is rest on the leather supporter, all you have to do is look at the screnn and touch exactly where u wanted. i personally think its a great implimentation. i wish the exhaust sounded better tho
● The system is confusing to use even when the RDX is parked, and it’s very distracting for drivers when the car is moving. For example, they’re forced to look at the screen to execute common audio tasks, and some adjustments are buried deep in submenus. We think it requires too much concentration, multiple steps and extended time with eyes off the road and hand off the wheel. It’s one of the worst systems that we’ve encountered recently. ●Braking performance is strong but the brake pedal has a spongy feel. The suspension quashes most bumps, but we found the ride to be rather firm and choppy. The cabin is quiet, barring a somewhat grainy engine noise. ●We got 22 mpg overall in our tests, which is average for the category, and no better than what we measured with the V6 in the previous-generation RDX. This figure also trails the performance from competitors’ small turbo engines, such as Audi, BMW, and Lexus. ●posting 52 mph through the course. Acura makes a big deal about its Super Handling AWD, which only comes into play when drivers accelerate through a corner. ●Most bumps are absorbed well, but the RDX has a jittery feel over rougher roads and on long drives. ●Most of the time the cabin is very quiet, but a coarse engine hum punches through under acceleration. It’s acceptable when driving aggressively, but annoying in everyday driving ●The brake pedal feels as if it isn’t responding at first, and it requires a bit of effort, which can make the driver feel less-than-confident. ●Although it’s nicely finished, the materials and build quality don’t quite match the best SUVs in this class. For example, the storage cubbies aren’t lined, there were some uneven panel gaps on the center console, and one of the dash vents didn’t move as freely as the others. Finally, there are plenty of soft-touch surfaces throughout the cabin, but the material on the upper dash and window sill is quite thin. ●The RDX’s controls are among the worst we’ve experienced. There is a steep learning curve to use the infotainment system, but it is still distracting and confusing to execute common audio functions even after drivers have some familiarity. The system is slow to load after the initial start up.
The point is, if you have to spend "a week or so" with it, then it's not intuitive. Did it take you a week to figure out where the mirror adjustments are? How to start it? How to turn on the radio?
@@rival121 Agree to disagree, I have two family members, 1 with X5(17') and another with X3(15'). X5 leased, X3 bought. X5 can't wait for end of lease. @Reno2324 Overall owner satisfaction of both the X3 and X5 are better than both the RX and especially the (dated) MDX. MDX reliability, and Acura all around has been a disappointment in recent years since they have been trying to play catch up in the infotainment and transmission arenas. I mean the whole purposes of not having a touchscreen is because the design is meant to keep your eyes on the road while you’re driving so I don’t feel like that a flaw, it’s rather the driver get used to it or not. Yes, on a higher brands have touchscreen but how much more you have to pay just to get that.
I don’t have no complains I Love my 2019 RDX I had it since March it is beautiful.I love the screen and how it works very nice, no complains from me, love it.
I actually prefer the touchpad system - it's fairly intuitive once you get used to it as it doesn't require the precision of a pointer hovering above the icon. One can easily find the corners of the screen simply by feel of the corners of the trackpad and see it icons highlighted on the screen.
I just bought a 2020 RDX a few weeks ago and love it. Drives really nice and I live in Alberta and give it an A+ for driving in the snow. one thing i'm confused about is the negative feedback on the infotainment and touchpad. My partner has a 2017 Lexus RX and compared to the Acura , the acura is way better. The touchpad took me a minute or 2 to figure out but now that I've mastered it I would recommend it. I can keep my eyes on the road and just have to put my finger on where I want to click. Its really good. If you're reading neg reviews on it I would say try it for yourself because I've found it way way better than Lexus.
@@adrianwalan1131 I'm waiting for you to show me. Anyhow since you have an RDX with a touch screen, I bet you I can turn on my radio, go to a preset station, adjust the volume, adjust my climate control faster than you can tap through menu screens all while barely looking at the buttons/knobs I'm reaching for while keeping my eyes on the road.
Bought a 2020 Advance and one week later drove from PA to California and back. No problems and quickly became an expert at the touchpad. Only one complaint, gas mileage is several miles below my 2016 V6.
Touchscreen or touchpad, people will always find something to complain about. Both would be the preferable option but then the screen position in the RDX would have to change. It should be hard to argue against the current position though, for ease of use while driving and keeping your eyes on the road it is the optimal location. Not reaching your arm up and having to touch a pad while moving in a vehicle is also pretty optimal. As far as safe driving goes this combination is hard to beat and should be hard to complain about. You don't even have to search for a mouse or pointer. Coming from the touchscreens on the Ford F150 and Subaru this is a clear improvement in every facet. Lets face it, there is inherent risk in trying to use a touchscreen while driving and this system does a fair job. Paired with the standard safety features and the Advanced models HUD (SHOULD BE ON ASPEC) this car is about as safe as you can get for ensuring your eyes are on the road. Just think about all the near misses you've seen others or been in yourself and how many are just due to people not looking at the road for whatever reason.
I've had my 2020 A Spec for about 2 months now. The things you're complaining about go away with the first day of ownership. The touch pad is intuitive and keeps your eyes on the road. I had a baby and needed something that was big enough for a stroller and groceries while having enough space for passengers and this suv was perfect. The handling is unbelievably enjoyable. One of the best handling SUVs I've driven. My complaint is the lack of power. It should have at least 300 hp since it's basically a Type R motor. I'm anxiously waiting to see if they make a Type S for the RDX.
Apaolo we have a baby on the way and that’s why we’re considering the Rdx a spec too (probably a 2019 to save a little money). I currently drive a 2007 TL Type S. Anything else about the car that you don’t like? Thanks in advance and congrats on the baby 👍🏻
@@Pandoraaaa408 grats on your baby as well! The only complaints I have besides the lack of power is my navigation barely works. The car has no idea where it is haha. I live in Massachusetts and the car thinks it's in California for some reason. Not sure if it just needs a software update or what but I haven't had a chance to bring it to the dealer. Also, the car is limited to 110 mph which is strange to me. If you like going fast once and awhile this isn't the best SUV to buy but it's perfect otherwise.
The RDX 'recommends' premium fuel. We've been mainly using regular or mid grade fuel since ownership 10 months ago and have noticed no performance effects for our driving patterns. The Acura badge on the front grille was a minor attraction for me. I love it. Each to his own but to me it isn't "comically" large. The base model might be the best value but for us the 16 speaker ELS sound system was crucial in our decision to purchase the Advance package along with all the other goodies. So far....it's been a good ride👍🏻

Clearly there is a brief learning curve with the touchpad infotainment system. But once you gain a comfort level, it’s the only way you’ll ever want to go. My only complaint has to do with the stiff yet choppy suspension system. Also my tech model lacks dampening that should be a standard. That said it’s a great value that performs well above expectations.
Infotainment = small stuff. How does it handle? How comfortable is it on long trips? How is the traction in snowy conditions? That’s what’s important to me.
I have a 2020 RDX Advance, we just completed a 2500 mile round trip and the car is amazing. Good power for hills and passing, handles great, smooth, and quite. What more could you want. Highly recommend. It don't come with remote however. Well it does but you have to have the 20 bucks per month Acura app to use it. I told the dealership that was BS for a vehicle that cost close to 50K. They agreed to include remote start for free.
I've had my 2019 RDX for about a year now. I really like the touch pad in that it's easy to use, the screen never needs cleaning, and the pad allows me to keep my eye on the road since I don't have to reach. The learning curve is no problem and touch pad is actually quite easy to use. Premium gas is only recommended - regular is allowed and the car runs fine. I agree that the auto engine shut-down is a pain. It should default in the "off" position, rather than in the "on" mode. Ride, quietness, power, etc. is great. This is my third Acura and the reliability and quality is tops. I'm in Canada and the RDX is 5 to 10 thousand dollars less than other similar designs/makes from other manufacturers. It's my view that this is one of the best values for the buck that's out there.
Am considering one of these and the salesman told me they take regular unleaded (my 2012 TSX took premium). He said they phased out premium fuel in Acuras in 2015. Yes?
What exactly do you think a review is for? Getting in, saying everything is good, and getting out? Or for pointing out potential issues and comparing it to similar vehicles.

Norm T I couldn’t disagree with you more concerning the infotainment system. It literally took me no time at all to become accustomed to my 2020 RDX infotainment system. I believe the reviewers who give the new infotainment system bad reviews are really stating their preference or unwillingness to learn a new way to operate an advanced and safer infotainment system. It reminds me of the old saying, “it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks.” I can’t help but have that opinion because of the ease of operating this new system. I find it humorous actually.
Duno why all the American reviewers are bitching about the infotainment system. It's like listening to my 65-year-old father on how to use the iPhone 11.
REALLY? You couldn't figure out the Infotainment touchpad? It is THE EASIEST one on the market. I taught it to myself on a 10 minute DRIVE one day. Nothing to think about, nothing hidden, no looking, no fumbling, no touch, touch touch. What's with you critics? Does something have to be stupidly technical to make it 'Worthy'? Just face the facts on this one. This car is badass and kicks butt over everything!
Took me 30 min to get used to the infotainment system.. touchpad makes it very convenient to operate when driving .. , I wished this model had a wireless car charger and little bit more space under armrest.. Acura link app is fantastic and no need for subscription to use built in navigation.. driving this car for almost 2 weeks and loving it...
Why does this guy need a touch screen? He probably has problems with smart phones too. I've had my 2019 RDX since late March 2019 and love it INCLUDING the new info system. Touch screens love finger prints like the 2016 TLX I traded in. Love the push-button gear button too.
Lol imagine reccomending a bmw over acura completely disregarding the depreciation of bmw and the reliability of acura.. i swear anybody can be a car reviewer..
I don't know why everyone 💩s all over the touchpad. I figured it out pretty easily on a test drive. It's a 1:1 ratio w/the screen so it shouldn't be too hard. Admittedly, I do like the simplicity offered by the domestics like my F150 and the Blazer RS I also test drove, but it's not a deal breaker. I think if you don't go in with a bad attitude, it should be pretty easy to adjust to.
I have a 2019 RDX, Infotainment doesn't bother me. I think it's awesome, unless you are a very picky person and looking for a perfect car in a perfect world.
The touchpad requires proper setup for your use, learning shortcuts from steering wheel and CarPlay voice commands. Is it perfect, no. It is not something that was a deal breaker for buying the RDX because the car shines in so many other areas. 😊
I woke at an Acura dealership in Las Vegas and the RDX is definitely the most popular car we sell. The only thing I would change is the interior. It’s nice but outdated compared to other brands such as BMW, Audi, Tesla , and other which are all on the same street as us.
I have the 2019 RDX. The infotainment system was extremely glitchy to begin with, but eventually it stopped needing to be reset (turn car on and off). Fine. Well, apparently a year later I’m having the entire transmission replaced. Sounds curiously like the limp mode issue this car has. Pretty dangerous, actually. A quick google will show you the issues starting to appear with this car. Electronics? Not bothered. An essential part? Disappointed. It was a high pitched sound upon acceleration. I only heard it when I drove in silence.
Acura changes the infotainment again and people are still complaining lmao. Like holy shit! Nothing is perfect. Car companies cant hit it on the head perfectly!!!!! It's still a great car for the MONEY.
Badge size is due to radar sensor size, since many OEMS are now incorporating the front fascia badging with with radar sensor. Other OEMS, (BMW I.E) will keep them separate.
I’ve had my RDX A-Spec for about a year now, honestly, when I first got it the infotainment system was a little weird and I wish it was a touchscreen and not a track pad thing. The learning curve you go through is about week or two of playing with it but is’t that bad at all once you get really fast understanding it. But really for the price and all the tech you get plus the all wheel drive, it really is the best car in the market!!! Plus did I mentioned it looks really cool!!!
It take just a little to get use to , but I now prefer it over shifting. It’s a cool feature. Putting it into drive is straight forward and the easiest to do for it’s the button you see . Reverse is the trickiest because it’s operated differently than drive because it’s kind of hidden, but still just a push of a button
@@jeffvaughn3465 I agree with Jeff and have no problem with my having to "pull" the R button backwards. Keeps drivers from simply going into R accidentally in my opinion.
@@ellamarie9709 that's the one thing I don't like about this RDX. Not a fan of push-button shifter either. In fact....I leased the 4 cylinder TLX rather than the 6 because of it. However.....I REALLY LIKE THIS SUV!....which means it will most likely end up in my driveway in the very near future!😉
Touchpad takes a while to master but works fine. It can be confusing and there is much info available to consider while driving. Suggest working with it a fair bit while parked. Great handling SUV.
I have had the 2020 RDX for a week now and I don't mind the touch pad. I don't think a touchscreen would work will because of the location of the screen (not bad by the way). It takes a bit of getting used to, but after a short time in works. Besides almost everything you need to do can be done from within the HUD. The one ok two BIG complaints I have are the lack of an SD card socket and the location of the USB for connection to the infotainment system Oh yea and the fact that there is only 1 USB!!!!!! This is by far the nicest car I have owned to date. I am very happy to be out from underneath the VW Tiguan I had.
On my 2020 RDX Advanced the touch pad isn't as responsive as I would like. My solution though is simple: I use Apple Car Play to control Apple Maps, Apple Music, Apple (audio)Books and Apple Podcasts almost entirely with voice commands. Overall the RDX Advanced is a terrific car priced thousands under the competition.
That blue is gorgeous!!!! Didn't know that this vehicle had many features for this price...will definitely have to test drive this in the very near future.
The base model has a "leatherette" interior; Not leather. While the touch pad takes some time to get used to, I prefer it to the touch screen which you have to lean forward to use.

@@silentstormstudios come on man we just got a RDX and the x3 would've been our other pick.

I've never had an issue with the infotainment system since I have synced up with the Bluetooth feature on my phone, that way as soon as I start up the engine it automatically starts playing my spotify playlist.
Charles McKey I agree. I get in the car, Fire it up, and immediately hit the auto shut off button. Wish there was a way to permanently turn it off
Had this vehicle as a loaner for a few days.

It’s acceptable when driving aggressively, but annoying in everyday driving
●The brake pedal feels as if it isn’t responding at first, and it requires a bit of effort, which can make the driver feel less-than-confident.

Complain Complain Complain with this guy.
Clearly there is a brief learning curve with the touchpad infotainment system. But once you gain a comfort level, it’s the only way you’ll ever want to go. My only complaint has to do with the stiff yet choppy suspension system. Also my tech model lacks dampening that should be a standard. How does the Rdx touchpad compare with other touchpads in the same class. Like the Lexus nx

The track pad works for drivers that set a few radio presets and enjoys the drive.
A car isn't about infotainment, it's about driving, defining the infotainment system on a car as it's critical flaw makes no sense.
The touchpad requires proper setup for your use, learning shortcuts from steering wheel and CarPlay voice commands. Is it perfect, no. It is not something that was a deal breaker for buying the RDX because the car shines in so many other areas. 😊
Just bought a 2020 and live it. Hate I can't listen to my favorite CDs but I'll adjust.
What is MVP?
1:42 your size for some reference, please.
I woke at an Acura dealership in Las Vegas and the RDX is definitely the most popular car we sell. The only thing I would change is the interior. It’s nice but outdated compared to other brands such as BMW, Audi, Tesla , and other which are all on the same street as us.
Well I don’t have a screen at all in my car so it couldn’t be that bad 😂😂😂
The infotainment is actually pretty nice, way to use and the screen will never have greasy fingerprints all over it. I love my 2020 RDX.
Plus did I mentioned it looks really cool!!!
dreamfusion2 , please****, max. mpg- city. No paper.
For anyone who has driven one; how is it driving a car with push button shifting (parallel parking, etc.)?
It take just a little to get use to , but I now prefer it over shifting. It’s a cool feature. Putting it into drive is straight forward and the easiest to do for it’s the button you see . Reverse is the trickiest because it’s operated differently than drive because it’s kind of hidden, but still just a push of a button
@@jeffvaughn3465 I agree with Jeff and have no problem with my having to "pull" the R button backwards. Keeps drivers from simply going into R accidentally in my opinion.
I have a 2020 RDX and wasn’t excited about the push button shifting. I have zero issues with it. It took me no time at all to get used to it.
The dash screen is meant to be untouched for finger prints & scratches. The system forces you to adapt to it & is well worth it once you be objective.
Why don’t the downloads just download themselves
Touchpad takes a while to master but works fine. It can be confusing and there is much info available to consider while driving. Suggest working with it a fair bit while parked.
Great handling SUV.
i heard 2019 RDX has issues , i am trying to buy 2020 RDX, anyone faced any issues with 2020RDX
I've test drive one and It took me 4 try to get to my music and I was parked! Just put a rotary selector. Not sure I want to deal with that everyday.
Out of all the Luxury SUV's, this is the only one I have never noticed.
I love the large badge, it's loud and proud and easy to see from far away
Getting the RDX in anything other than SH-AWD doesn't make any sense, considering the sportiness of the handling. So the base model won't cut it.
What currency? Don’t know where you are.
That blue is gorgeous!!!! Didn't know that this vehicle had many features for this price...will definitely have to test drive this in the very near future.
The base model has a "leatherette" interior; Not leather. While the touch pad takes some time to get used to, I prefer it to the touch screen which you have to lean forward to use.
if you can get pass the non touchscreen it is by far the best lux suv in its size class.
Touch screens get messy like in my 2018 ridgeline
