If you thought the piece we wrote called “The Dolphin Miniatures” sounded awesome and you want to hear the rest, you can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/Vu_uYbINdXs/видео.html If you want to see our future videos (including Beethoven opus 132 next week) make sure you’re subscribed to our channel!
Wooden frog solos, how daring! That could’ve helped with the Revolution (sorry for the fuzzy details, my music history professor was a walking encyclopedia of lore but I don’t think we got that far. He did collegium musicum or something and spent most of his time in Medieval period of the arts)
If you don’t mind, I’d like to share my story in the viola journey. I started orchestra in 6th grade, as my parents had forced me to take a music elective. I didn’t want to do band or choir, so I chose orchestra. When we had to select our instruments, I decided to choose the viola as it stood out to me the most. We only had 3 violists in 6th grade. I ended up absolutely loving it! It was the best decision I’ve made in my life to start playing viola. In 7th grade there were only 2 violists. I decided to audition for all county orchestra in 7th grade, but it wasn’t my best audition and I ended up getting last chair. But I didn’t give up. I started taking private lessons and I got even better. 7th grade finished up and I continued playing. When I went into 8th grade (where I am now) I was the only violist, meaning I was a solo section. It made me nervous but I had lots of support. :) we are playing 3 pieces right now, and I have featured parts in all of them! In one (hyperdrive) I have the melody in a lot of the piece! And just this weekend, I got 3rd chair in all district orchestra. Your videos have inspired me to keep going and to never give up. Thank you for supporting the viola community. :) -abby
We purchased a wooden frog for this piece specifically and it is recommended in the score. In a pinch, we have also used a plastic container of cashews
