As of right now the update is terrible. My hotel wifi use to show and tell me I couldn't connect due to now browser. Now the system don't even show the hotel wifi
To be able to play Call of duty without major lagging Ive got 600mb, PS5 hardwired, all the port forwarding setup. But yet the portap still struggles. Its nit just this game either final fantasy another big one for lag. Think ratchet and clank is one of the only ganes so far that hasnt had any issues
Bought one yesterday. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. The screen is beautiful, and it has performed flawlessly in home for me so far. I was actually surprised it was only 200 after spending hours with it.
@@Streetfame140I have pretty good WiFi, but my ps5 is not plugged in to the modem.. modem is in my basement. Ps5 is on main level, and I have been playing portal upstairs (3rd level). I have about 18 hours into the portal so far, and I have been blown away. I have experienced ZERO lag at any point.
I just want the ability to switch accounts without having to log out and re-link to the new one every time. The Portal is essentially a mirroring device. Not being able to just swap user account on the PS5 and have it carry over is absurd.
I mean ur switching accounts so I has to log u out on the mirror device so that the mirrored will pick it up n allow the new account access. It sounds like it sucks tbh but I get y it happens
@@glennjrbeck I use it at home on my WiFi.. I use it first.. then turn my controller on and run it me and my kids play sf6 that way since they broke my spare controller
I almost exclusively play on the portal, maybe once I get my 85 inch oled on Black Friday I’ll start playing on the tv again but love the versatility my girl can watch all her shows while I get a sesh in with the boys
@@Jiggavelagreed. If you’re at home and have a great connection it’s not as bad but I usually use my portal when I’m not home since I have a desk setup
Buy a 85" Sony Bravia 9 and thank me later. Gaming is so much more impressive than any OLED I have ever gamed on. So much brighter and impactful, no worry of burn in, and actually cheaper than OLED. :)
@@purepsx if I'm being honest pending the touchscreen sensitivity update would be big I hate taping it 2-3 times to use the touchpad. But the best improvement they can do is allow other Bluetooth headphones idk if it's a software issue or hardware. The craziest thing they can do is allow casting to TV's

Not that it matters after this update, but when I was staying in a hotel, I contacted the technical support team for that specific hotel gave them the MAC address of the portal and they were able to get it online. Sorry that you purchased a hotspot and I wish I could’ve commented sooner so that would’ve saved you the hundred dollars a month. But now you can.

Bought it randomly for something to take on a vacation instead of my console worked well at 10,000 ft above sea level off my hotspot near the base of mt.Albert in Colorado I’d say I really tested the connection capabilities and I’m impressed thoroughly.
Boot lickers. I bought mine day one because my internet speeds were 3x what it recamnended for play. Guess what? It was totally unplayable even when standing in front of my ps5. Couldn’t play call of duty or doom or anything. Sold it the next day to some poor sucker for an increase in price cause you couldn’t get them at the store yet. I found out just today that it actually doesn’t matter the speed of the Wi-Fi, it HAS to me 5hrz not 2.4hrz which mine was at the time. Of course Sony never told us that tho, whatever to get y’all to eat it up

Exactly. Him saying they regularly sell out is ridiculous! If they were half price then that would be an ok deal, but for a dualsense cut in half with a nice screen in the middle that is unable to do anything else but mirror your ps5 it's a ludicrous device.
This is awesome feature to be able to bypass log-in on web based portals hotspots. I now have more time to play with my PS5 thanks to the PS portal coz I have no time to sit in front of the TV after a hard days work.

I grab the last unit on target and let me tell you this is the best ps5 companion ever I play GT7 and is amazing love it thanks for this new update it’s making the portal even better for vacation away ❤
Does it ot properly work tho? They have a feature on ps remote to use mobile data but it. Doesn't work at most it just turns on ps5. If you want to play on phone you need a third party app and do somwthing with you modem to play on mobile data so imagine its the same
I just picked up a PlayStation portal today. I’m a sales rep and spend about four nights every other week in a hotel. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to connect to the hotel Wi-Fi. I’m still trying to figure out how to get my hotspot to work with it. I can connect to the hotspot, but then I am not able to five from my hotspot. I’ve watched some videos on port, forwarding and using a static IP hopefully that will help.
Glad I picked one up a few weeks ago. Been enjoying it and now when I get dragged along by my girl I can confidently use my portal without burning through my hotspot on my phone 😂
I bought one from GameStop and only used it once because of curiosity. Also I bought a silicone case to go on the device itself and a cool looking case for storing it. I also bought some extra analog tips. But like I said before, ive only played on it once and I feel I have no use for it. Its a shame too because its a really cool experience. But I have a 55" LG OLED C1 Series right in front of me and I live alone, so theres nobody needing to use my tv. My PS5 games look way better on my OLED. So im guessing its just never gonna be used. Thought about selling it or giving it away. But im hoping one of these days I have a reason to use it. But I highly doubt it. When im not working or playing the PS5. I find my fun time getting in my 2022 Dodge Challenger 392 R/T Scat Pack and go cruise around. Grrrrrrr what to do with it that idk 🤷♂️ waste of money in my position. When I was with my ex gf this would've come in handy so she could have the tv for watching her favorite shows and movies.
Some ideas... When you get another gf, you can use the portal while she watches TV. Also, you yourself can watch TV while playing on the portal. That's what I do
It’s definitely worth it if you play a lot of big games. For online FPS, not amazing but possible. But for everything else, it’s pretty damn good. But, only if you wanna move about with it. If you prefer, or are always at home… stick to the console. 🔥🔥
Get a travel router like the gli net. I use the slate x so I need to only log in through the router and my devices already have the wifi saved from the router.
What about the major concerning issue, FPS drops and Lag, even when connected via Ethernet cable on a good internet connection at home, is that solved?
@@virtualDan You're lucky then, do you unplug your HDMI cable from the console while using the portal, and set the resolution to 1080p, disabling HDR, VRR & ALLM, Also setting the console on performance mode?
Bought one after launch and still love the idea of it, but I just can’t seem to get it to work well. PS5 is hardwired, over 1Gb/s speeds. Portal is showing full bars WiFi connection and it will work great for about 2 minutes then drops connection every time. Very disappointing
It should be able to out a SIM card in it for data . Internet connections are shit everywhere . I live in a bachelor apartment so I have no need for one if I can do the same thing on my phone while I’m out .
Actually have one been enjoying mine this really does beat the remote play of the ps4 with the vita the portal has really improved the experience alot just wish it had wifi 6e support

@@redcrimson1028 Recently started properly using my Steam Deck with Chaiki4Deck to remote play PS5, works flawlessly. I must agree although a bit more expensive than PS Portal (SD can be had for £249 starting price for pristine refurb), you get a lot more for your money and its a much better buy.
Great video! My biggest issue with the portal is the sensitivity of the analog sticks. The sensitivity response feels so different compared to my PS5 controller and no matter what I do in the controller sensitivity settings, the stick feedback never feels the same as it does with the PS5 controller. Does anyone else experience this? Anyone have a different solution other than adjusting the controller sensitivity settings? Thank you
I spoof my MAC address with my laptop to log in to guest networks. It will be nice to not drag my laptop with me when I go to work and still be able to play at lunch
Is there going to be an update where you don’t have to have the PlayStation 5 by the router to work fast? Because I usually keep my ps5 in my room and it’s a bit away from the router and when my ps5 was first in my room when I got the portal it delayed and glitched a lot. I miss having my ps5 in my room but it’s been in the living room since I figured out the closer you are to the router with ps5 the faster the portal is. Hopefully they fix that.
Get yourself a good WiFi hub extender with a either net port and a cat 8 cable for the PlayStation 5 should solve your issue want something at lest wifi 6e
I would love to see a damn streaming update that lets you see stuff whatever you want besides gaming like hulu, Netflix, Disney Plus, etc that would be dope
I’ve hardly played on mine. Internet is just crap. I bought two one for me one for my son. It’s good when it’s at home but what’s the point? When you got a PS5? The idea of this is to take it out and about and connect to my personal hotspot on phone that sez I got 5g that never works, always comes up with a communication error
@jesuscervantesj82 yup, I've been using my Hotspot on my phone and haven't had any issues. But it's nice to know I'll have options in case I don't wanna use the Hotspot. Tbh I was more excited for the battery percentage.

These features should've been available day one of the release of the PlayStation portal people really need to stop praising Sony for doing the bare minimal. I have own the portal for a little over six months even though I do enjoy it. I've think I'm starting to regret it I should've just bought a steam deck.

So just call it the default player 1 controller and use player 2 as a regular controller

I had one, but I returned it after a few days. The thing is not worth the price, and I do not regret returning it

I’ve had it since launch and I’ve used it like 5 times.
I play my PS5 everyday, portal is the only extra i dont have yet, still not sure its right for me, but its good to see the uodates coming in.

An update to connect the portal directly to the ps5 like the WiiU or the ps vita with the ps4.
Get a travel router like the gli net. I use the slate x so I need to only log in through the router and my devices already have the wifi saved from the router.

What about the major concerning issue, FPS drops and Lag, even when connected via Ethernet cable on a good internet connection at home, is that solved?

@@virtualDan You're lucky then, do you unplug your HDMI cable from the console while using the portal, and set the resolution to 1080p, disabling HDR, VRR & ALLM, Also setting the console on performance mode?
Bought one after launch and still love the idea of it, but I just can’t seem to get it to work well. PS5 is hardwired, over 1Gb/s speeds. Portal is showing full bars WiFi connection and it will work great for about 2 minutes then drops connection every time. Very disappointing
Same, except mine randomly disconnects about every 15-20 minutes. Only problem I’ve had with it since having it.
It should be able to out a SIM card in it for data . Internet connections are shit everywhere . I live in a bachelor apartment so I have no need for one if I can do the same thing on my phone while I’m out .
Actually have one been enjoying mine this really does beat the remote play of the ps4 with the vita the portal has really improved the experience alot just wish it had wifi 6e support

I returned mine. It's garbage!!!! My steam deck, legion go, even the switch and rog ally is better. If u think thr ps portal is great, you seriously need to get a life.

@@redcrimson1028 Recently started properly using my Steam Deck with Chaiki4Deck to remote play PS5, works flawlessly. I must agree although a bit more expensive than PS Portal (SD can be had for £249 starting price for pristine refurb), you get a lot more for your money and its a much better buy.

Great video! My biggest issue with the portal is the sensitivity of the analog sticks. The sensitivity response feels so different compared to my PS5 controller and no matter what I do in the controller sensitivity settings, the stick feedback never feels the same as it does with the PS5 controller. Does anyone else experience this? Anyone have a different solution other than adjusting the controller sensitivity settings? Thank you

Is there going to be an update where you don’t have to have the PlayStation 5 by the router to work fast? Because I usually keep my ps5 in my room and it’s a bit away from the router and when my ps5 was first in my room when I got the portal it delayed and glitched a lot. I miss having my ps5 in my room but it’s been in the living room since I figured out the closer you are to the router with ps5 the faster the portal is. Hopefully they fix that.
That's an issue with your internet. Mine is several rooms away from the router and works just finez
Get yourself a good WiFi hub extender with a either net port and a cat 8 cable for the PlayStation 5 should solve your issue want something at lest wifi 6e
You have to have the console on sleep mode just to remote play is a huge turn off. Xbox I can have the console off and it’ll work

I’ve hardly played on mine. Internet is just crap. I bought two one for me one for my son. It’s good when it’s at home but what’s the point? When you got a PS5? The idea of this is to take it out and about and connect to my personal hotspot on phone that sez I got 5g that never works, always comes up with a communication error

The Portal isn't a PSP. You don't download games onto it. It's uses Remote Play.

@jesuscervantesj82 yup, I've been using my Hotspot on my phone and haven't had any issues. But it's nice to know I'll have options in case I don't wanna use the Hotspot. Tbh I was more excited for the battery percentage.

These features should've been available day one of the release of the PlayStation portal people really need to stop praising Sony for doing the bare minimal. I have own the portal for a little over six months even though I do enjoy it. I've think I'm starting to regret it I should've just bought a steam deck.

Be careful when mentioning internet speeds, ISP speed is measured in megabits, and NOT MEGABYTES - there is a huge difference in these.
The stupidity of not being able to play streamed games has been a major bummer
