Ok Sony, we know you are secretly listening. Look, this device is a promising start to get back to handhelds. I really do like the thumbsticks and ergonomics. Keep those but please expand on the other aspects - specifically the usability aspect. If you could kindly release a portable console with 120Hz OLED display that can run PS5 or even just PS4 level games natively (PSP 2). That would be very much appreciated.
PS. You can charge a bit more than $200, it's ok.

People forget, but we had this tech 10 years ago. It was called the PS VITA. The PS VITA had its own library of games AND could connect to your ps4 to remote play, PLUS front and rear cameras, front and rear touchscreens, the ability to see other players that were close to you, could record video, watch movies, play music, and was available with a plethora of accessories. The world decided it wasnt good enough, Sony abandoned it, and now everyone is freaking out about a piece of hardware that cant even run by itself. These are some sad times we live in.

Personally I found it a bit pointless because even if I had a PS5 not everyone has a stable network connection and that could be a problem for me but as we are living in 2023 I think so in a few years this won't be a problem at all. My recommendation is that they add a feature where you could do cloud gaming on it without actually owning a PS5. I also hope that they make a handheld that runs by it self, offline anywhere with a good battery life and all named the PS Vita 2, hope you all have a great day.

I have the portal too just yesterday and tried to play with it.
One of the main issues is the delay. I tried playing Street Fighter 6 first to test the input lag and I will say it's not recommended for fighting games. So what I tried next is Call of Duty and same with SF6 you can feel the delay which is not good. FPS games are not advisable to play here.
Next I tried playing Alan Wake 2 and I would say it's good with some noticeable delay. I also tried playing Astro's playroom to check the dual sense and it's working well.
The last game I tried is Outlast 2 and it's not also recommended.
By the way I have 500mbps/45upspeed wifi.
For the battery it took at least 5 hours on my end.
In my honest opinion the portal is very fragile too so be careful with it.
In my conclusion this device is only good for some story/linear/adventure games that don't require too much attention on FPS.
Games like fighting games and First person shooter games are not recommended.

I mean, sure, most people have their console/monitor/tv already set up wherever they use it the most…but what if you want to play in bed, or on the couch, or in the dining room, or in the basement, or on the porch? Just grab this bad boy and you’re off to the races. I love it.

People hating on the concept in general, my personal opinion. So mainly I like to play pc titles but sometimes I will play on my ps4 slim. I currently use a retroid pocket 3 plus for streaming my pc and ps4 to it. I was going to pick one of these up just to stream from my ps4 slim but then I realized it only works on the ps5. Personally, I don't have an extra $500 lying around to spend on a console. Sony could have done something actually game changing if they got the trigger tension things on the dual sense to work on ps4 and if this device worked on ps4. Especially if it supported pc streaming.

It would’ve been really good if they gave the option to stream directly from the console when you’re near it, using a proprietary technology without wifi like the Wii U did. That way the latency would be next to zero. Instead Sony went out of their way to make a proprietary “PS link” technology for their ps earbuds and removed Bluetooth from the portal 🤣🤣.

  • @BigKevin1194
    @BigKevin1194 11 месяцев назад +1

Here's how I would make the PlayStation Portal similar to Steam Deck and ROG Ally if I were Sony.
    1. It would have the same specs as the regular and digital version of PS5.
    2. The screen size is around 7 or 8 inches that has 1080p or higher resolution with 60 to 120 hz refresh rate.
    3. The price is about $499 here in the United States for a 512 GB model, $599 for 1 TB (prices may vary for certain countries).
    4. There's an option for storage expansion, 1 to 2 TB NVME SSD (the ones that are used to expand storage for Steam Deck or ROG Ally), and microSD card up to 2 TB. Keep in mind that that the PS Portal will not be using proprietary storage expansion like the PS Vita has.
    5. It can be compatible with almost all PS4 and PS5 games digitally with the exception of all PS VR games.
    6. To include additional features, it can able to connect to PS5 and can be use as a controller kind of like the Wii U and can also be used for Remote Play.
For Sony, if you are actually listening to your consumer especially to loyal fans like us, then you'll consider making a handheld console. It doesn't have to be its own handheld like the PSP or PS Vita.

@@IcyCubey I think SONY missed a huge opportunity right here. I would have bought the PS Portal if they made it similar to the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. I mean they both have the same RAM size as the PS5 Physical and Digital version. I wouldn't mind if the PS Portal is digital only. Yes I do know that gaming laptops does exist but I intentionally omitted it because of the price range and not many people buy it because they can't afford one.

In that regard it does come in handy, but besides that it's just a basic mirroring device. The lag, standard LED screen and only usable on WiFi makes it a hard sell.
