When you play it to see people watching the music saw them live great show great music in macaron park free and in New Jersey I saw live on 1998 on aol.
Interpol is one of my favorite bands and they are great live. Saw them pre-covid with Morrissey - fantastic show. You will love all their stuff. My current favorites are No I in Threesome and NYC. Paul Banks has lots of side and solo projects that are also great.
Loved your reaction. Simple abstract lyrics delivered so well with a musical progression that will allow each listener to relate and respond to based on their own experience. I think that is part of the genius of Interpol. From the same album, Turn On the Bright Lights comes the song Leif Erickson with the lines 'She feels that my sentimental side should be held with kids gloves, but she doesn't know that I left my urge in the icebox. Genius combination of all four members, was sad to see Carlos the bass player leave after a couple of very successful albums.
I'm with you Greg - I'm hooked, lined and sinkered😮How GOOD are they???..omg👌👌👏...Wondering how they slipped through my wide net - Clearly not as switched on as I reckon I am😂Great reaction his voice is fabulous x
Interpol are one of my favourite bands. Seen them a few times in the UK. Their first album is the stand out. They are definitely influenced quite heavily by Joy Division. You should also give Idlewild a listen. Great Scottish band.
In the early 2000's, I heard Interpol on a local college radio station. I remember this song from them. ruclips.net/video/Ha_bppvZ0a8/видео.html It's been awhile, thanks for playing them.
Like others have already said, their first 2 albums are amazing. When they went more mainstream they still had their moments (No I In Threesome), but for me they didn't hit the heights of their early years.
I think OLTA has some good songs. Pioneer to the Falls and Pace is the Trick are both really nice tracks imo. and The Lighthouse deserves respect just for how unique that song is. First 2 albums are undeniably best but I refuse to act like OLTA was a complete flop of an album either. Still miles better than what a lot of artists put out.
Yes, this song reminds me of Joy Division meets Radiohead. When these guys first came out, I had such high hopes. And they were a NYC band! I was totally hooked on the Antics album, the songs "Evil", "NARC", "Slow Hands", are particularly great. The bass player, Carlos Denger, left the band. You would think that doesn't matter, but he had a swagger and attitude. When he left, imo, the chemistry changed, I moved on. All in all, a good band, but the early days were their best.
This is off turn on the bright lights . Well worth to listen to the whole album a 10 out of 10 for me. One of the best of the 00s
I agree. Great great album.
Interpols first 2 albums are brilliant, defo worth a listen. Please react to a song by Icelandic band Sigur Ros....they will change your life
Excellent choice, i love this song, recently i saw them live in Argentina, opening as always with this untitled 1, thanks for the video.
I love that the tension never resolves on Untitled
Paul always seemed to struggle to sing live. Played this one a bit quick too. Bit, it’s Interpol, so it still sounds great 😎

Have you listened to their first two albums yet?

Myth. They were not influenced by Joy Division. Only Carlos was. The other members never even listened to them before.
@@davidp6776 maybe they weren't influenced like Carlos, but to say they never even listened to JD is just too much to believe in.
Thank you so much for this, Interpol is probably my fave band of all time and it makes me very sad there are so few reactions to them!
You're welcome. Another one to come soon!

Paul was drunk as f*ck there, he has stopped drinking a while ago
I love Interpol! I recommend Take You on a Cruise.

He sounds like a chipmunk now

Interesting background info, Phil. Also appreciate your perspective, as always. - Greg
Carlos Denger basslines are amazing. Interpol without him lacks that groove he delivered
