    On one hand, very informative -exactly what I was looking for re: how to disassemble, properly clean. On the other hand, 38 minutes that is painful even @2x speed. Little bit of editing, fast forwarding could have knocked this down to less than 8-10 minutes of useful info. Thanks all the same

      I understand an experienced person would like a quick version. But, as a new owner I appreciate the unedited version. I got my 7700 in January and need the detailed info. Thank you.

    Does this gun uses a duckbill valve ?

    My container of regular acetone, recently purchased from Home Depot, specifically says on the label to NOT use acetone to clean spray equipment. How do I reconcile that to the instructions given in this video?
    Also, the can of cleaner solution used in this video is clearly labelled lacquer thinner but the narrator continually referred to it as acetone. So should I use acetone or lacquer thinner to clean this spray gun?

    • @jadarroch

      The HD acetone will not hurt our spray gun. We use it all the time. You can spend more on more expensive acetone if you want, but it's not necessary. Always use acetone, not lacquer thinner for cleaning your spray gun. Lacquer thinner will leave an oily residue inside your spray gun and can cause fish eye as a result.

    Thorough video.. so this gun was very clean as I'm sure this was just an instructional video.. if this gun had just been used for applying a water-based paint or another high viscosity water-based material a full flushing of the system with water is advised prior to these steps ( thinner for solvent based materials ). I have hard water in my house and I'm concerned that over time, the mineral deposits could build inside the gun parts.. is that a concern and is using distilled water advised for the flushing of the system?

    • @ApolloHVLP

      If you do not thoroughly dry the inside of the spray gun with the turbine air before storing it you could run into problems with your hard water. As a precaution we always suggest doing a final rinse with acetone. This will not only clean out any remaining material either water or solvent based, but it will also completely evaporate, not leaving any type of residue behind in the material passages. If you use distilled water you won't have to be as careful to thoroughly dry the spray gun when putting it away.

    So much easier using a $150 ultrasonic cleaner and 10-1 ratio Citra clean degreaser. Also there are better cleaning brushes

    OMG. Is he cleaning a spray gun or prepping for surgery? I just don't think I have enough time or patience for this extensive cleaning process every time I use the gun. Can you set the gun aside and break for lunch, or will that ruin the gun?

      This video shows you how to do a thorough cleaning of the 7500/7700 spray gun. This does not mean this has to be done every time, but if you are going to store the gun for extended periods of time it is always good to clean it very well before storing it. The more often you use the gun the less important it is to clean it as well. That said performance is directly connected to how well you clean your gun. If you don't clean it well then you will see the performance diminish over time, just like with any other spray gun. The nice thing about our gun is that because it is designed with large air ports and passageways inside it is much easier to clean than compressed air spray guns.

    Very thorough but no way am I going to do all this every time I use the gun. I guess I will need to buy plenty of replacement parts....

    • @ApolloSprayersHVLP
      @ApolloSprayersHVLP  4 года назад +2

      You won't need to replace parts if you don't clean the spray gun, but your performance will slowly start to suffer. Cleaning your spray gun keeps the gun operating like new.

    I knlw you guys made the gun but man, flush the paint channel before taking it apart. If not, you backwash paint everywhere. I still have conversion varnish in the air channel from 3-4 years ago. Honestly save a crap ton of time, pull the cup air first, put a gravity feed cup on it and start by flushing your cleaner from the top into the cup. Hold the trigger wide open and face it sprayer side down a bit. It will flush everything out before even starting the cleaning.

    How often would you do this detailed cleaning, every time? Also, use solvents if im spraying watet based products?

    • @ApolloSprayersHVLP
      @ApolloSprayersHVLP  4 года назад +1

      We recommend a full cleaning every time you use your spray gun for best results each time. It is more important to clean your spray gun thoroughly if you don't use it often or are spraying a variety of different types of finishes. If you are using waterbased finishes always use acetone to clean with.

      @@ApolloSprayersHVLP what if you spray a coat in the evening and plan to spray another coat the next day of the same product?
      Also I thought I’d gotten an email from your customer service team long ago saying denatured alcohol was the go-to cleaner?

    • @ApolloSprayersHVLP
      @ApolloSprayersHVLP  3 года назад +1

      @@KSMike1 We always recommend cleaning your spray gun after each use. If you are going to be spraying the same color the next day it is more important that you clean the gun well or you will have paint drying in your gun. The severity of the cleaning process also depends on how many guns you have and if you keep those guns for specific materials. We always recommend cleaning with Acetone. Denatured alcohol will still leave residue in the spray gun. Acetone will not leave residue in your spray gun.

      What if you’re spraying two coats, 4 hours apart? In that case would it be ok to just spray some acetone through it from a different cup while it waits?
