Epic winch recovery. 4x4 Sprinter van stuck in the mud of Vermont

- On our journey to Maine, we got the 4x4 sprinter van stuck in Vermont while pulling the off-road teardrop trailer. We have to use the WARN EVO 12 winch to do a series of complex winch pulls, all while only 10 feet from the forestry service road. This episode covers the drive from Tennessee to Vermont with a stopover camping in Virginia at the George Washington National Forest. Even a low range with the BFG KO2 tires wasn't enough to get us out unassisted. Watch as we camp and use the Makita electric chainsaw for firewood. We cook on the induction cooktop powered by the Goal Zero Yeti 6000 lithium battery pack.

Holy crap you were really f’in stuck! It was nice to see the FJ making an appearance. You still got the tundra? You should totally do a camp out with the FJ soon.
Hey there... Yeah I was pretty stuck... The fja would not have gotten stuck there.. I'll try to take it out soon. I traded the tundra for a 200 series Land cruiser that's hiding in Lexus clothing
@@BigSexyBeastAdventures lol and of course the FJ would not have gotten stuck. And in my 40 years of wheeling (I have done some hard-core wheeling over the years) I have never once gotten stuck to the point that I needed somebody to get me out. Knock on wood. I drove a Ford Ranger for 22 years. I had a pretty beefed up. It never once stranded me. But now I’m a Toyota girl and there is no looking back. The FJ is just a tank.
Totally agree!! This is the first time I've used a winch to recover myself. On the FJ... only to recover other people.
We have the same van! how do you set your van up when you're in deep mud like that? we almost got stuck this past weekend, and I ended up getting out by putting in in LOW RANGE. I hear if you turn off traction control as well that it helps. Have you done that?
the 4x4 system is funky... you have to rev it enough that the front wheels start to spin as well. The winch saved us because we didn't have MaxTrax with us.. but I think having the traction boards would have actually been better. Where do you take your van?
