Watch Vandread. People keep saying that Franxx is like Evangelion but I think that a lot of the relationship stuff came from(and was done better in) Vandread. That and it’s just the better series in almost every regard except MAYBE fan service.

Gurrenn Lagann, Kill la kill, Darling in the franxx, all starting with decent plot just to end up fighting aliens, didn't know they were all trigger till I saw this
At least in Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill the alien plots didn't come completely out of nowhere and managed to be written into the plot in a way that made sense, unlike darling in the franxx

Gurrenn Lagann, Kill la kill, Darling in the franxx, all starting with decent plot just to end up fighting aliens, didn't know they were all trigger till I saw this
At least in Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill the alien plots didn't come completely out of nowhere and managed to be written into the plot in a way that made sense, unlike darling in the franxx
The difference? Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill are actually good throughout.
