No Blue Box or Blue Lock mention damn :/ Yea, the first 6 eps of blue lock had mediocre animation but it got really good in the second half of the season and the final ep was absolutely insane, and Blue Box was such a good character drama too. Both of these at least deserve an honorable mention.

I have read Look Back back in 2022, but I had forgotten how it went. When it's movie showed up in number one, I paused the video and watched it, despite it being 3 am here. It's beautiful. Thank you for putting it as number 1. Your description of it gave it justice too.
As someone who creates videos just for my very few friends, with no reason but to put the things that I feel like making out there, without worrying too much if they'll even enjoy it, I feel deeply inspired by both this oneshot and your videos. Nowdays, though bothered by college work and anxious about entering adulthood, I found a reason to continue making them again.

I remember looking for a short comfort movie to take my mind off of my own feelings after finishing "I want to eat your pancreas", saw Look Back and read a bit of the description. I thought it was the perfect choice with it being an hour long. Oh how wrong I was and how many tears were shed.
I love art. I love the feelings and messages it can bring through. The process of wanting to create and the fall of when you lose sight of it all. When I watched it, I dont think I was ok for a solid week with how much heartache I felt. And finally thought I was ok, until Gigguk reminded me and I immediately had to pause and wipe my eyes, maybe I'm just too emotional, but man even after months, it still is so impactful.

I've avoided Gigguk's in a nutshell and year review videos for a long while with a slight fear of spoilers, but watching this I'm reminded why I fell in love with anime over a decade ago. Look Back changed my life in an amazing way since the first time I read it. Calling it my favorite creation in many MANY years would be an understatement.
Creatives of all skill level should watch this film, and also read the book. I mean anyone even if you arent a creative should watch it. Its truly Fujimotos best work, and the studio who brought it to life did a fantastic job. From the music to the animation of scenes like the rain scene is insane. Its a beautiful piece of media.
I went to the theatres for the first time in 10+ years to watch this movie. I was the 2nd person to buy a ticket for my theatres showing. I've watched it 6 times in total so far each time trying to show it to as many people who haven't experienced it as possible so that maybe it would effect them how tis effected me. I listen to the soundtrack everyday to start my morning work and it never fails to invigorate me. I really love Look Back, and hope others do too.

I want to believe that this was partly responsible for this game's success and eventually cult status in the JRPG genre to this day (along with its soundtrack, of course)

My only problem with dandadan is that it feels incomplete when you look at it as a standalone season. It feels as if the story has just taken its first baby steps and not much actual development has happened since the first fight. That's not really a big problem because it will get further episodes, but it being a season and not a cour, or "part 1", I expected I guess, more? It's as if you took the first 6 episodes of a romance anime and was like: "yep that's season 1, see you in a few months". Of course I'd rather them take their time and not rush things, but I just felt a bit baited.

Its definitely just a branding thing
Like i think a lot of people expressed their distaste of the rise of split cour seasons, but this is one of the times where it should have been a 'part 1' not 'season 1'
And the fact that 'season 2' is only coming half a year later is proof of that
That is very much a meta issue which will pretty much go away once time passes
It doesnt change the fact that those 12 episodes were still fucking amazing

It basically was a cour, the next season is coming in summer of this year, just 6 months after the first one ended. I have to assume, judging by how episode 12 ends, that the original plan was to have a 24 episode season, but it was broken in half due to time constraints.

I think it has something to do with the politics that go behind a show being just 12 episodes long and the way that the manga was never planned for a 12 episode run. Tbh if it finished the arc that it was currently on the anime would feel complete but I actually appreciate the pacing because it would mean that a potential season 3 would cover an entire arc that has the same level of hype for the dandadan fan as Avengers endgame.

(Forgive the MuchoTexto) As for me, I wouldn't put Dandadan over Dungeon Food and Orb.
Dandadan's technical side is very well made, demonstrating to know how to convey even the most touching moments, the characters they introduced are quite compelling and hilariously over the top and the concept is funny and refreshing... But from what they've shown us so far, for me this is enough to deserve at most a 3rd place since overall I however found it towards the average (not in a negative sense obv). I'm sure that it will be later that the series will get into gear, but at the same time I'm afraid that in the future it isn't showing us a more "solid" plot beyond that of the mere and over-the-time repetitive "close and butt-kick" encounter with aliens and spirits altogether, even if I'm aware that Dandadan probably isn't exactly the right target to aim at. In fact, the aspect of this series I found myself empathizing with the most was the development of the friendship/love relationship about an unusual pair such as Okarun and Momo, followed by an equally shared condition of being misunderstood and marginalized by other people solely because of their strange interests.
Another consideration I want to point out is that sadly I've learned to be a bit skeptical about all those "packaged anime" coming from already very popular manga, which thanks to a massive marketing they managed to acquire, in my opinion, a disproportionate hype (see also Kaiju n.8, Kagurabachi, Sakamoto Days...) since then, as our usual, we create too high expectations on a product that in the end, except for a few cases, it may turn out to be "great" but it may have nothing more stimulating to offer aside from outstanding graphics or animations. And in my experience, this was partly the case of the first season of Dandadan, albeit it still managed to surprise me.
Despite the minor marketing effect but due to the fact they are much longer/one-shot format and also managed to remain consistent with the narrative with no remarkable technical flaws, I personally find that both Orb and Dungeon Food adaptations have finally displayed something truly interesting, creative and so in general unique to the anime/manga panorama, managing in a certain sense to overcome, more like in the case of the second one, the stigma of the technical side that must necessarily be impeccable to create a "good series".
Picking and reviewing these two one-by-one:
-Honestly, I really loved the complex worldbuilding/ecosystem in Dungeon Meshi, which is truly its adamant point in favor, as well as a fashionable design accompanied by an unexpectedly down to deep characterization and development of all the characters. Furthermore, the gags within it are very goofy and really help you grow fond of Laios and his heroes party.
-Speaking of Orb: as you say in the video, Madhouse took another step ahead into adapting a concept that perhaps for the first time ever touches on many topics related to the early Western approach in the Astronomy field (that doesn't copy our history 1:1 but is still based on real main events in the past), and particularly it develops the transmission of the truth theme that "makes the world move", secretly carried forward by a collective of people who hardly know or have never met each other but who are united under the same ideal of the Universe, i.e. the heliocentric theory, plus the ambition and desire of Science itself to feast the eyes in order to re-discover and contemplate "a more beautiful reality" over the dramatic one they lived in medieval ages, which on the other side was governed through terror and mistaken beliefs from the most rich and powerful social classes, most specifically the clergy: in fact, It's truly emotional to see ep. after ep. how despite the same tragic epilogue every action and ideals of any character, insignificant or less they will have to go down in History, aimed at reaching that specific goal (not without some internal conflict heavily influenced by their personal Faith), in some way manages to make a change on their own existential purpose and even on those other people who believe in the contrary and so who try in every way to stop the course of the progress. I also love the many recurring and subtle historical or purely symbolic references in this series, which gain more and more significance as the plot goes on.
However, I absolutely respect everyone's tastes and I'm glad to see that these two new dark horses, and Dandadan too, are placed so high in your ranking. ^^

    1- Mushoku tensei S2 part 2
    2- Dandadan
3-Orb: on the movement on earth
4- Dangers in my heart S2
    5- Dungeon Meshi
    6- Dedede Demon Destruction
    7- Re:Zero S3
8- Boku no Hero Academia S7
    9- Yatagarasu
10- Puniru wa Kawai Slime/ Girls Band cry
Sadly never got a chance to watch Look Back or Bang Brave Bravern but probably they will be on this list

With "toriyama bjs" just power up after power up, and also Deku being perfect to the end, pretty boring in my opinion, just look how HxH handled it with Gon, from pure boy he started to be more grayish character, which was a price to be a hunter in the cruel reality, and that sh** is a masterpiece, MHA had good run but last season was simply bad.

A lot of times with Monogatari I have to just accept the bad to enjoy the good, but it's nice when there's a stretch where it just drills down on fundamentals without getting self-indulgent with the fanservice and pandering. Nadeko Draw maybe a top five arc. also somebody might be on my case for it, but I ship Nadeko/Yotsugi now and there's nothing you can do to stop me.
