This song and “Inner Self” by Sepultura really got me excited about this band as a young man. They just had this energy and cool aggression that felt so ahead of the pack at that time. They were the heaviest band in the world for a while in my opinion.
Saw them live at Harpos in Detroit in the 90’s they played EVERYTHING double time!!!!! Igor is unbelievable. Without the brothers it’s not Sepultura !!!!!
Almost 2 years late but I want to share a little story. May 1 1992. Sepultura were on a world tour and my small country was blessed to welcome them for 2 shows in the 2 major cities. Especially in my city very few "big" bands ever come. Me (13 at the time) and a friend (12) were dying to go see them. He managed to get his grandpa to pretend he needed help with something so his parents would leave town for the long weekend and I as an older and more "mature" friend would go stay with him (our mothers were childhood friends). We dressed up and went to get tickets.. I still remember the face , and the tone of the guy in the ticket booth.. "Sorry kid.. Can't sell you tickets. You're both too young to go in a show like this unattended" he said with a smirk... And as kids that we were we cried... We spent that weekend playing D&D with some of his friends slaying imaginary monsters while listening to metal..
@@jernejvasic9585 Nah, Beneath the Remains and Arise are unquestionably the best Sepultura albums. But yes - Refuse, Territory & Roots are such boring songs to introduce people to. Dead Embryonic Cells rules though. If only the average Sepultura fan knew of Subtraction, Slaves of Pain, Primite Future etc.
@@Metalton95 refuse resist isn't boring, the sound of the drums with the tribal influence sounds brilliant imo and the politically charged angry lyrics in refuse resist and territory are good too. Max Cavalera is an absolute legend. Soulfly is his band from around the nu-metal era which has done collaborations with many of Vin's favorite vocalists. Nailbomb and Cavalera Conspiracy are other gems.
igor cavalera is a beast. his drums where so exotic and origenal back then. he played around the small tom toms back in the day for that certain brazilian vibe. He's a sick drummer. this entire band was out of this world.

Sepultura was the first metal concert I went to in '94 in San Francisco. Awesome show. Saw Kirk Hammett sitting in the audience. I'd look over occasionally and see him bobbing his head to the music.
I've always interpreted this song as about the futility of life as we all end up dead. That desperate cry is what we have in the back of our minds that we try to bury as deep as possible because we all know life will eventually end no matter what meaning we create. It's a desperate cry at the reality of our existence. Pretty nihilistic message.
Well, I was lucky to see the classic lineup in 1994 along with the Ramones and Raimundos (Brazilian Hardcore Band). good times. Iggor Cavalera was a monster on the drums

Schizophrenia, morbid visions bestial devastation. They were all great!!
Replace Chaos AD with Schizophrenia and you'll hear no more complaints from here.
