Just bought a set of 2 plates for $170 during their Father’s Day sale. Hard to beat that price point during a virus scare, an election year, and during panic buying. I’m thrilled to have scored these plates.
I did as well. Also atlas plate carrier. They had 500 in stock 48 hrs ago and they’re already sold out.
Nice I just purchased 1 plate on Memorial Day I got 15% off so I paid just a little over $100 then I ordered another one yesterday I was kinda able to manipulate their friend referral program so I got $25 off my order and an extra $25 towards a future order so I was able to kinda whack $50 off the $119 price tag so I think I got both plates for around $170 as well. I had previously been running AR500 plates and still obviously had its advantages but I’m not planning on being anyones steel target to shoot so I’m looking forward to the more lightweight ceramic plates even if they don’t have as much of a multi hit capability as steel.

Really wish you would’ve commented on that 1” partial foam edge on the plates. Seems like every affordable plate that’s also pretty light has a foam edge, not end to end protection.
Imagine how well their Level IV plate performs!!
I've been hesitating between lightweight lvl3+ UHMWPE plates and Alumina lvl4 plates this video makes me tend more towards the lvl3+

Wow! I'd love to see some tests where a ballistic gelatin block is placed behind armor tests. I've always wondered what was the lethality of the rounds that made it through.

I would like to see a video shooting these or level 4 plates while in a plate carrier that is carrying mags like it would be hit in real world.

You can't beat this price for what you're getting everyone who's been wanting armor, but didn't want to spend a ton of money should pick these up. I have some other 10x12 ceramic plates, but I'm hoping LA police gear will come out with some larger 11x14" or 6x8" side plates and I definitely will be purchasing some if they do. Edit again: got mine today. Ordered on the 10th, shipped on 14th, in the mail today +1 day for holiday. Wasn’t impressed by the packing but nothing damaged.

There is a bit of a bothersome revelation in Buffman's recent review. The outer inch of the "plate" is not covered with the ceramic, just foam over the HMWPE. I bought three of these too and am more than a little disappointed. I think Mike missed that info somehow or I just didn't notice him saying it.

That's really good Armor. I would love to get 3 plates. Two for Plate Carrier and One for my backpack. Would enable me to go prone behind the backpack for what looks like really good protection.
Hey Mike et al, I just received three of these plates. Mine seem to be about 5lbs (my scale sucks though) but my calipers indicate that they are almost 1.1" thick. I don't doubt that Mike's measured how he said they did but thought I should share this for those whom are really hoping to get .7" thick plates.

LA Police been good company long time. 1st used them in 2004 to get converse boots in Iraq. Great prices and prompt delivery on everything then and since.
They have pre-orders for a level IV plate now. I think it is time for a part 2!

Despite my age and medical history I'm still a security contractor with a federal agency and just got in from 5 mile hike in the woods wearing my heavy armor and carrying weapons and gear. At 2am and spittin snow at bout 30 degrees. Counted over 50 deer. They don't even run from me anymore. I mention that to give you an idea of what the non crippling, so far, PTSD can do when you're not lookin....writing long stupid comments. I just hold the tablet. BUT there are whispers in the wind that all is not as it appears. Look closely at Harris being sworn in. What did she put between her hand and the Bible? Great test! I have a pair of the LAPG Level IV plates but given how well the Level III does I could see trying a pair of them as well. IIRC they're over a pound lighter.

That's pretty impressive performance for a 100 dollar level 3 plate. I'm very curious if that would hold up to a 55 grain m193 out of an 18-20 inch barrel? Perhaps you could do another test on it to see if M193 ball will be stopped as well? It's just as common in use and availability as an m855 round to civilians, and from many videos ive seen it zips through armor that m855 is stopped by when a long enough barrel is used.

Id really like to see a another test with another 2 or 3 of these plates. Something to increase the sample size a bit. If the build and QC allows for these to consistently and reliably stop m855 that would be amazing. This is impressive but I'm still hesitant to trust these based off a test on one plate especially for how cheap they are I can definitely see QC not being equal on every plate produced. Id also like to see drop testing, exposure to adverse weather/thermal conditions, ect.

Looks pretty good for the money. Just ordered a set of Battle Steel level IV plates to replace my far too heavy AR500 III+ plates.
The AR500 plates are nice for getting a better workout on a long hike.

I bought some of the botach level 4. They have terrible shipping. I'm still waiting on it. But this looks pretty solid too. Wonder if all their level 3 plates will be this tough or if they had a number of them fall short in their testing which is why they're only rated to level 3?
as far as i know the manufacturer has to specify which level they want the product tested to. different price points for different levels so it's not like nij just hammers them and sticks a lable on them when they stop working. they have to say i want it level 3 tested or i want it level 4 tested so i wouldn't be to worried about that, this video is pretty clear on what it's capable of stopping.

Keep an eye out for Buffman r.a.n.g.e channel, he's doing a full test on level III & IV lapg plates so I guess we'll see if it's a fluke or not.
@@donharris8808 We find out that the outer inch of the plate is not covered by the ceramic it only has the PE. That would have been great info to have before I bought 3 or the plates on the same day that Buffman announced the up coming video. I imagine that Mike either didn't realize the reduced ceramic coverage or that he thought it was normal since RMA did it briefly with their 1199 and 1189 plates to presumably get the weight down.

Velocity is the key factor when defeating body armor.
LIII hybrid plates have always been able to stop M855. It's the 100% PE plates that have trouble stopping it

One more thing Mike, I just watch Buffman's review and he noted that the outer inch plus of the plates had no ceramic, only some sort of foam over the HMWPE. I very much doubt that you omitted this information intentionally and thought I should bring it to your attention. Or maybe you did mention it and I just missed it in the two or three times I watched the video. 8x10 instead of 10x12 is 1/3 less coverage - pretty significant. Looking back at your video I can tell that the plate is undersized. I am embarrassed that I bought three of these plates with out noticing that first.
I purchased 2 level III plates, after watching Mike's & Buffman's reviews, and debating a Botach level III Plate or Plates(s), maybe 3+, knowing that it covers a 10"x12" Total area, but LAPG is more like a 8.75" x 10.8" overall "coverage area." Admittedly, I'm wearing them with level IIIA+ body armor=level IV or at least level III+, having spoken with the maker of my body armor, when Ceramic and Poly worn with my body armor (I hope). I also used the Discount Codes that only takes off 10%, but you can pay less for shipping by Shipping "Economy" and save a few bucks and I'm not wearing the plates, except if I feel like I need 1 maybe, up front... so an additional 3 business days doesn't bother me. That said, Buffman made sure to point out that there was a loss of Ceramic coverage of about an inch around the sides of the level III & IV armor, I think that Mike brought up a quick bit about Poly around the edges, only, but Buffman even (as you saw) denoted in chalk or white marker the "only Poly" around the edges.
The total size of the Plate is still about 11.8"x9.75" in Length/Width and, as said, with certain level IIIA or IIIA+ body armor it will equal level III+/level IV armor, as stated, no matter what... which is why I also went with level III LAPG, but am going to get some Botach level III or III+ Ceramic/Poly Plates, too. Also, don't feel embarrassed, brother, it is what it is. I do wish, however, that LAPG would have had it cut it more evenly and/or explained the actual coverage or lack there of, simply for putting the plates into body armor plate closures... If the 1" had been "cut out" it would've fit perfectly so that my Velcro opening would've fit evenly at the top, versus a more forced fit at the top or having to leave the top open, which I can play around with more to totally get the Velcro closed at the top. Why won't a 10"x12" fit in body armor meant for it? I wear Small-Medium versus Medium or above, which I'm right near, but with body armor, if some didn't know, it is cut more by your waist size/girth, so I'm glad I'm not a larger size, which would=obese/overweight for my size and height.
@@GmanGSW I perhaps underestimated the LAPG size because mine were packed away for moving and I just conservatively guestimated from Buffman's lines. That was an error on my part. I still think that the LAPGs are a good deal for the money. I did however spring 3x as much for an RMA 1093 3+ multi-curve 10.25x13.25" 5.16lb plate for my primary front plate. Buffman also recommended a slightly more budget but full sized plate the Hesco L210 that I might also get even though it is a bit unusual in what it will and won't stop. Thanks for your reply. I hear you regarding the curosry check and I was debating adding Hesco's L210, but the last time I checked (just a few days ago) they are sold out for the foreseeable future... I did notice that they had a 3200 series(?) that is a "reasonable" price, but the exact price was? I then had debated their 6"x8" L110 for my body armor, though preferably their 8"x10," but that is blown for the foreseeable future, as said, too... That said, I believe that RMA is/was a pretty good pick, though pricey, as you sadly found out. I'm sincerely sorry about that, but, if the size was more to par, it may have been worth it, brother? There are some cheaper Plates out there again, though, including: the LAPG level III and also Botach's Battle Steel Level IV @ $99 or level III+, that has been been NIJ certified, for $149, I believe... and remember to check for Discount Codes!
Now, as I'd said prior, it would've been nice had LAPG denoted the exact "coverage size" versus the 11.8" x 9.75" "total size" they show (only 10.8"x9.75" Full Protection, alone). That said, Buffman R.A.N.G.E. put out some news about LAPG Plates, I saw just after the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett for Associate SCOTUS Justice, that LAPG, I believe, has begun putting foam behind and in some other areas, which would be better for holding together the Ceramic tiles in their plates! I believe and am almost positive that it was regarding LAPG Plates, which would be a great thing, at least, for LAPG to do.

Be nice if they could make ceramic that doesn't expire. Maybe Vacuum seal them?. Yeah , and in this day and age, one would think, someone could add a water ativated / back up pull string activated floatation assist device so that the metal plates that would drown you if you fell into the water, would give you a chance to survive.

I know you can't test every combination but i'd have loved to see more than one hit with the m855... realistically, with how ppl train these days; you're probably gonna get lit with more than one round so it's be nice to see what one can expect.
Ya but cops dont usually use green tio anyways. Testing m193 for brokeass departments or gold dots woulda been more applicable

@@georgerafa5041 The choice to carry them wasn't ours, it was issued. I agree, horrible round in general... but it does defeat some armor that more typical rounds do not. My point is that m855 exists in huge numbers, thus the likelyhood is high that a person will encounter it.
