So much love and respect for truckers here. They are hero’s truly. If you respect truckers majority of American truckers will tack care of you, especially in the times you need it most. If your a single female and need help they are a godsend. We owe them so much. I always carry some extra cold drinks and a sandwich/snacks and stop if they are on the side of the road. For a car it may seem like a long wait but a trucker it’s always longer and we depend on them to get where they are going on time. Bad day on the road is so much worse for them. I have no problem following a slower truck up an incline for them because safety is so much more important and they have so much more to do for our safety. They are amazing human beings.

I live about 30 miles from I-80 Truckstop. It has been owned by the same family since its beginning. They really care about their business and customers. Tons to see and all the restaurant food is very good. You can do the buffet or order off the menu. One of my favorite things there is the Truck Museum. It is amazing with lots of trucks and memorabilia you will never see anywhere else. Stop by and spend some time!
Cashier at a truck stop and yes the truck drivers are amazing. Friendly and happy to share their knowledge. That place was huge!

Great video! I haven't been to Iowa 80, but when camping in the Rockies for a whole summer, it was mainly about the showers for me and my friends. If/when I ever visit Iowa 80, I think the barber shop, massage chairs, laundromat, showers, buffet and movie theater would do it for me. And maybe the grass flip-flops and a sticker. lol Blessed be. 💖

I'm a truck driver and I've stopped there several times and it's amazing loved it to bad they don't have one in Jacksonville Florida
On the flip side, I did hear Bucees is moving north with a few new locations. I can't wait till they have one in Pennsylvania.

It’s a great place to stop!
The last time I was there, the sit-down restaurant was closed due to COVID. It's good to know that the buffet has reopened; most truck stop buffets are gone.
Ya that isnt the only change that happened.
Lots of 24 hour places close now.
Lots of shops have closed for good.

I live in Council Bluffs Iowa across the Missouri river from Omaha Nebraska. Glad you are enjoying our beautiful state. We have a lot of campgrounds. One we like the most is Hitchcock Nature Center. Full hookups for $30 a night, tons of hiking trails, cabins and tent camping. It is on top of the Loess Hills. Absolutely beautiful views. Hope you visit again. ❤

I’ve been to the Iowa 80 truck stop a few times. I’ve driven there just to buy gifts. However, I’ve only seen a small portion. I must make a bigger effort to see more. My parents live in Davenport, IA, off the 80, just 20 minutes away. I was born and raised in the Quad Cities (IA/IL), where Davenport is the largest of the Quad City area. I currently live in Arizona.
Been there many, many,many times. Good food and showers. Also Gramm's across the road has good food too.

I think it depends on the truck stop as far as the food goes! I don’t do buffets of any kinds because I’m immune compromised and was advised by my kidney doctor to steer clear of them! Hubby and I don’t have an RV yet but often stop at truck stops on our way to and from Montana from Washington! My dad used to take my sisters and I to a truck stop area near our home as kids/teens for food! I remember the food being good and a nice change! In August of 2000 my hubby and I went to North Dakota for his family reunion! That’s when Montana was having a lot of wild fires causing a lot of smoke and we wanted to get away from Interstate 90 and whatever it turns into to get out of the smoke! You are correct about truckers being nice and helpful! We were traveling in a car and they gave us tips on the best route to get away from the smoke and still get to our destination! It took a little extra time but it made the trip a lot better getting out of the smoke!

My brother in law is a trucker and has been for many years they do help when possible for sure and my grandfather use to have a CB in his car and house and I would talk to his trucker friends so awesome I need to get a CB for us love them

Truck stop food is the best, being a o/o you have to know where to get food. I-80 truck stop is cool. Lots of eye candy. Buffet is like every everywhere else in comparison to buffet.

Those buttons are air brakes, compressors in that tractor "big rig" it's easy really to drive there fun to work on too, just like an RV, trailer or any diesel

It may behoove you and your husband to get a CDL manual and potentially get your class b license with passenger endorsement so you both will know more about those extra lights and buttons
It's A Truck Stop understand that it is a small city due our hour restrictions and how we are away from home these places provide the things we need. WHATS NICE IS SEPERATE RV parking most drivers don't care to be parked next to Rvs
As far as truck stop food goes, some are really good & some are just horrible. I learned by trial & error most of the time, but when a larger trucker says "don't eat there", trust him!

Truck drivers are awesome…After driving our Class C and now our Class A for many miles, I would rather drive around truckers than non truckers. All of our issues on the road have been with non truckers.

We camp several times a year mainly in state parks. We often debate on what to do with our three dogs (who camp with us) when we want to go to a tourist attraction. What do you do with your dog when you are out and about for four plus hours?
We leave Alaska at the RV when he can’t come with us (for example when we were in NYC). We have several options for remotely monitoring the power and inside temp of our RV when we are out and about so we know he’s safe.
The only thing I wish I knew, is if you pay for the wash at the wash, or in the truck stop. Although, I asume the price may change with the size of your RV. And, did that include a wax coat? The RV guy in Arizona says you should wax your roof at least twice a year. Thanks
Our roof is a lifetime spray on roof so it doesn't need any maintenance any more. The wash was paid for AT wash center which is on the grounds of the truck stop. The price did include the Jeep wash as well.

It’s a pretty cool truck stop, how much did it cost to get that the rv washed ? You drove close to our house, we are in Waukee by West Des Moines.
$66.33 which included the Jeep wash.

Have been to that truck stop many times, the restaurant has great food, also there is 4 large truck stops like that, Joplin Missouri and whites petro in Raphine Virginia and the Iowa 80 and petro in Kenly North Carolina

If Iowa 80 never closes, why do they have locks on their door?
I work for a Denny’s years ago that was open 24 hours we had locks on the door. I asked that same question and it was told to me that if there was ever a robbery are we ever had to secure the place? We needed the locks when you know that it happened and we actually were thankful we can lock the doors.
