- In this video I'll show how to draw a photo realistic cat in pastels. When drawing realistic fur in pastels the layering process, pencil technique and contrast are really important. Each play a role in bringing depth to the drawing which helps in creating that three dimensional, realistic portrait. Like dogs, cats have different coat lengths so it's important to replicate the right textures through adjusting how we use the pencils.

Thank you ❤️
Super detail of the process, lots of wisdom therein.
Daunting because you are so talented.
Thank you.
Got to watch it today and this cat is so beautiful. I’m not ready to try different mediums yet, but I sure enjoy watching you. Sticking with acrylic for now and trying to sharpen my skills.
Wonderful. How do you then frame this masterpiece to prevent it from being damaged?
Thank you so much for this lovely video. I never used pastel mat but I am going to try it.
They're such a fun medium to work with 😁😁😁
Superb. Thanks for sharing your technique.
My pleasure. Thank you for the lovely comment 🥰

Beautiful
Thank you 🥰
how do you sharpen your pastel pencils? I can never get mine long enough to make such fine fur details
@@rachellobb6904 I use a Stanley knife to sharpen my pencils.
Gorgeous & Amazing! What brand of white did you use to get those fantastic thin white hairs? I just started with pastels using only Carbothello pencils but I cant get them that thin due to carbothello being too soft I think?. ..I was going to try white colored pencil next? Thanks for the great video.
I use Carbothello and a generals white charcoal pencil but this is softer than the carbothello. Creating thin lines is more about the technique used rather than the pencil. My go to white is the carbothello and that can create super fine lines but the pressure applied, how we hold and move the pencil are what create the thin details. Pleased to hear the video was helpful 🥰
