Once again, love the history. Adds nice dimension to the footage. Always good to learn something . I should try it myself sometime. Thanks for your hard work1
Your captures of the forts are epic!!!! Windy days in itself is hairy enough for me, but windy and trying to land on a boat had to be the most intense feat I’ve ever seen!!!!!! Great flying skills my friend!! The way you stayed calm and your friend’s catch( first time) was incredible!!!! Awesome content!!!
I am sure if you get in touch with the Yacht club in Grimsby they may ask someone to take you out there. Beware if you suffer from sea sickness though. It gets very choppy out there. Haile Sands the smaller fort can be walked up to when the tide goes really far out. I am very glad you enjoyed the video and there are many more like this to come in the near future.
Cheers! These fort are iconic to the Lincolnshire area. As soon as I got my drone I knew that this was one of the top priorities. Great location and great history. Whats not to love?
The footage is amazing of the forts and commentary and history is so interesting when you were on the boat you can see the size of the beast wow great video my friend 👍🏻
Aerial Views and Histories UK I bet they are it’s a perfect set for a awesome film thank you for sharing your video and the history on the forts I truly enjoyed it great job buddy 👍🏻
This is a fantastic video! Really glad to have found your channel. You give some. Awesome information. We can't wait to get across the pond sometime really soon. Started for the info and stuck around to see a drone crash!
Thanks for the support. I actually trashed a Mavic pro around 1 month before I did this so you can imagine how terrifying it was. Yeah I was so close to losing the drone. Well worth it for the footage though I believe.
My great-grandfather worked on the Haile Sand Fort during WW2, I believe making anti-submarine nets? My grandmother always used to reiterate the same advice given in this video, don't try accessing the fort from the beach, way too dangerous.
I really wish I knew more! My grandmother is 92 now but her memories still seem pretty clear so I'll have to ask more about it the next time I see her. But she did tell me that Cleethorpes was thoroughly devastated by bombs during WW2, her workplace and my grandfather's house ended up destroyed and a lot of people died. She told me that fake tanks were planted around Grimsby and Cleethorpes as decoys so that German planes would bomb them instead, I've never found records of that but it sounds very plausible. Absolutely my favourite detail, though, is that while all this was happening to Cleethorpes, different buses were shifted around from place to place so in the event of a bombing there would still be some buses available. Very 'keep calm and carry on...'
Thanks for the great information. I had a lot of Research and documents to narrow down. I do know of the extensive damage by means of bombing raids and I cannot find any information relating to dummy tanks. Although I know of many examples where these kind of tactics have been used by the British throughout history so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were used in Cleethorpes. The British keep calm and carry on attitude was well documented throughout both World Wars. Many instances of housewives going on record who said they looked forward to air raid sirens just so that they can have a good natter with the neighbours. The bombing campaigns by the Germans intensified to destroy British morale. Unfortunately for Hitler and his army it had the opposite effect and strengthened the British resolve. The UK government opened a lot of new mental health centres during WW2 and closed most of them while the war was still in full swing. Statistics show that mental health problems declined during the war with many historians citing an increased sense of purpose and determination to defeat the Nazis.
Thanks dude. These forts are iconic to everyone in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire and the UK as a whole. Providing a network of Anti aircraft defences of which I intend to cover all of them. Flying over water is a risk but for footage like this, the footage is more than worth it. I am truly privileged to get taken out to these on my friends boat to fly them both and make a history video about them. Thanks for the visit my good friend!
wow i wanna go to a rave here :D Not seen this sea fort before, could be a wicked pirate station too :) got some balls flying that kit over water :) so close to the mast lol quality flying :)
These forts are really well known around Grimsby and Cleethorpes. Many people wanted me to make this video and so did I. Well worth the risk of losing the drone for the footage from the day. (I wouldnt be saying that if I lost it!) There is so much more history to them but I like to keep my videos at 5-10 minutes. Thats why I leave the links to my research material and urge viewers to check it out if they want more history. Its hard finding the information/entertainment/time balance sometimes but I think I got it just right on this one.
Thanks mate. I post a new video every week. My St.Botolphs church video is coming later. Its a 13th century church known for satanic activity and hauntings.
Bull Sands Fort was owned by Streetwise Charitable Trust who was restoring the fort for use as a drug rehabilitation facility. As of 2014 The trust no longer operates. Haile Sands fort was sold by auction for £117,000 in Nov 2018 I'd love to have a non trespassing wander around them.
I am a senior volunteer for the Streetwise Charitable Trust. We still own Bull Sands Fort so it is still private property. Go and look by all means, but please do not land on or try to force entry as the fort is monitered by remote CCTV.
Great video and very interesting facts about the forts. I've heard the net stretched between the forts story many times, but apparently this is just local myth. I heard there was a wire stretched between the two forts but with sonar attached, so not sure if that changed to a net due to Chinese whispers? Either way, great stuff!
Haha. Getting that drone back in was one of the most intense rushes ever. I have previously trashed a Mavic by flying like an idiot. Hopefully this was redemption. It took every bit of skill I had and a great catch from my friend.
Great video Steve and thanks for the shout out in the description
No probs dude. I will give you a full shoutout in the next one! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks

Without a doubt, this is the best footage of the forts available on the forts. Would love to get out there .. one day perhaps.
