The coils are there to take vibrations from the cab and frame movement. Keep the line from braking.
Like a kid in a candy store when it fired up. Your facial expressions showed it all and how proud you were. Great job Captain!
I like it when Captain Kleeman says I'm not a mechanic, I'm just a guy with some tools .😊
Captain all your hard work is paying off! For not being a mechanic you’re doing one heck of a job! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
The Monster Truck!!! It’s Alive. It’s Alive. Yay!! Dr. Frankenkleeman.
😂
It lives!!! It’s got a heartbeat! Now, teaching it how to drink and move itself are all that’s needed!
Cap’n your grin was so big it caused your ears to almost push that cap off… and no one was any happier for you than I was.
You did it bud!!!!
You can't beat the feeling of changing a motor and hearing it start!
💪
I found you a pretty good 10ft dump box but it's up in Michigan. $1200 buck
I've got to tell you, I felt a little of that emotion you had when she turned over that first time. I don't know what it actually was, maybe the thought of "this might actually work", or just the feeling of hearing it turn over after all of that work, but I felt it. I had just eaten a big meatloaf supper, so that could have been part of what I was feeling.
That was music to everyone’s ear…so proud for you Captain. 👍👍💙🇺🇸
One more time for us? Nah. That was all for you Mike. We could see it on your face.
Great job.
Isn't that your power steering pump and resoure
I’ve been a mechanic for 40 years and I’m still learning. It’s fun to challenge yourself. I enjoy watching you make things happen Mike👍🏻
Hi Mike. Well, that really sounded good! The smile on your face told the story of how excited you were to hear the old truck run. That is a big milestone! I always thought that the coiled brake lines were done like that to allow them to flex a little bit if necessary. I'm not 100% sure about that but that's what I thought it was for. Very nice!
After watching you build the "Fubaru", I had no doubts that you would pull off this build successfully!
The Franken Truck is alive. Way to go Captain
Hats off to you sir. Mines ten years in the making.
Coming along great. Look like a little kid with a smile when it fired up. Thanks for the video
THAT has got to feel good after all your hard efforts.
Bravo young man. You did it.
the best part of any project, when it finally worksish, worst part, getting all the details done. awesome job figuring things out.
it feels real good to here one fire up after a swap
"A 7% chance it starts", fires up on the second try. That's as good as the weatherman's prediction! LOL. Ol' beast sure sounds good. Still voting that it's got a bit of a cam in it. Fine work Captain!
I've never been so happy for another's accomplishments, but I am so proud of you, that motor sounds great, looking forward to seeing that smile when you get to drive her 😊🎉❤
MIKE, ... It's ALIVE !
IT'S ALIVE ! That'll put a bounce in your step!
Carry on Capt'n.
Thanks!
Your joy, your happiness when you see your labor come to fruition, your hilarious running commentary and your ability to set the perspective, all of these things truly make my day so much better. Thank you Captain.
Steel lines and coil will be on shortest or shorter ones to allow more flexibility to allow for chsssis flex/movement not to damage pipe, can leave coils out if replace with copper but I usually just remake them as they were
I'm not reading through 300+ comments because I showed up late to the show, but if you didn't know, the pulley you took off @ 2:00 is called an AC bypass pulley. It's designed to sit where the compressor goes. Much cheaper option when the compressor dies. And then you don't have to try guessing what size belt you need to keep the truck going
There is a threaded hole in the center of the shaft you can put a bolt in then nutand washer to run down the bolt to the pully until it is on the right distance on the powerstering pump. Beating thepully on the shaft can damage the insides of the pump. They do make a puller and pusher for that is inexpensive and fits chevy also. Keep up the good work.
HERE is where you contain this kind of joy... This episode was EPIC !!!
Well done Sir !
You'll have that 100k silver plaque real soon Mike! 👍
The fact that you can actually get stuff done, and edit, upload, and have a life w/ wife & kids is admirable.
I am ALWAYS AMAZED by your ingenuity and intuitiveness!
Your SMILE at the 25:00 mark speaks VOLUMES!!!
The Kleeman Khronikles continue....IT'S ALIVE! What a great sound to finally hear the engine turn over and run. Good progress and what a project! As always....great channel, great content.
Thank you sir!
It's alive, it's alive. Ya done good Mike.
Well lookie there Lil Miss Charlotte had to check on Daddy . Extra pets for being a good doggie if you please. 🐶
Motor sounded strong, when you got it started. Good to have numerous part trucks, so if one is wrong, other will work.
Isn't that the most satisfactory sound ever? The relief can not be faked, you were so surprised when she fired, you were shocked. Well done you deserve a day off for that. Best wishes from UK.
Even got my wife to watch the last 10 minutes of this.
Hey Captain some advice here for your heater lines. You will have some issues with your heat the way you have the lines hooked up. You are missing one line that should go from the water pump to the thermostat housing. Then there is a fitting that should be in the intake that you hook the hose that goes to the firewall. Currently you have plugs in both of those ports. I did the very same thing on my ford and the heat only worked for a bit then quit. Love the vidja series btw!
Good morning sunshine! It's really good to hear her crank up & run! I know your happy! Great video! Much love from Henderson Ga USA
Mike it is a truck not a vampire. I thought you were trying to kill a vampire. And yes to the coils. It is to keep the lines equal in length.
Captain hears the cam thump and instantly knows it’s well worth continuing. Keep it up!
I remain grateful for how real and authentic a fella keeps his videos. I will point out that one thing your missing is somebody asking you if you’re done yet🤣
Yes, those alternator plugs have a known history of getting hot, melting and catching on fire. Ford used cheap plastic to save $$. Parts stores have a high heat option to replace it with. Strongly recommend!
Oh my goodness, it starts, massive encouraging step forward. Excellent job sir, I applaud you, thanks for the video, enjoyed hearing that 460 pop off.
Appreciate ya watching!
Who are you trying to fool? You did it one more time for you. Lol and I don't blame you. Great feeling to hear it running isn't it.
Why, I'm tickled Kleeman yellow at your joy at getting it started. :)
Hey Mike, hearing the old beast fire up must feel good for you, very reassuring that you are heading in the right direction. Great effort.
Thanks 👍
Your smile says it all!! Keep up the good work and you'll be driving it in no time!
💪
Coils(pigtails) are to stop brake lines from breaking off at the flare. Dampens vibration from motor and drivetrain.
Howdy Mike,
You are doing just fine bud.👌
The core support (for the radiator core) is part of the front clip, just need the fenders and the front clip is complete.😉
The coils on your brake lines are the additional length of brake line to equalize the system, the same applies to the hydraulic lines on the Triple Nickel. If you notice one has more coils than the other, typically the front, because the rear has farther to go.
The "Oh God", laugh, and big smile was the perfect way to end the video!😂👌🤙
IT LIVES. Congrats Mike, super good
The brake lines are coiled to allow flex between chassis and cab and vibrations. Otherwise the line connections may loosen or lines crack at the fittings.
Good.job Nice truck Ford good show 😃👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
Captain the brake lines are coiled so to take up the body to frame flex. The body is mounted on rubber..
The coils in the break lines are to allow the body to flex away from the chassis during torque.
Those coils are put there so the body can move independent of the frame without damaging the lines. (I’m assuming that this was already answered but I’m lazy and don’t want to look 🤣)
U did a great job on that truck , its 2 wheel drive. Its better to have 4x4 and not need it then not having it at all old man told me that 1 day nice build
The coils are to keep the lines from cracking from the movement of the truck. If you put them straight into the master cylinder they will crack
it was so awesome to hear this thing fire up in all of its 300 and something hp glory also the coils are for vibration and chassis flex (mostly for vibration dampning) without the the lines would crack and leak
Definitely excited about it
Great job! You make it look so easy, though I know your busting your butt. Love watching you work all these projects. Keep up the Great work.
Very nice, almost ready to go take a Dump 😂 forget about it. ❤
Hi captain you look like the cat that got to Cream you had such a big smile on your Face it was great to see it Run But not for long.
Ralph in the UK
💪
Hey Cap, good morning! Just saw you hook up you clutch master cylinder. When I worked for a contractor as a mechanic (as well as one of there operators) I had trouble with a ford super duty clutch. Thought it was a bad clutch, turned out that Ford had a TSB about the firewall plate the master cylinder was mounted to. The spot welds would come lose so that when you pushed the clutch pedal it would allow the whole plate to move. Thus making it hard to shift. There is a simple fix though , they (Ford) offer a kit that sandwiches the inner and outer plates together. Easypeasy!
Congrats Captain! That has to be such a sweet sweet sound after all of that work! 👍💪😁
It sure is!
parts truck comes to the rescue. the nickel and dime what did I miss/lose parts are aggravating. nice to have parts truck to plunder for this or that. that 460 sounded good. some tinkering/tweaking it'll be rumbling away. nothing like the first fire up to reignite that spark in a project
Hard to beat that feeling! Great job
I love the evil little laugh,,, great job love the video.
So please that it's running ,yep all the fine tuning to sort out now ,good on you and your efforts
Coming along with the truck and I'm excited about the RUclips Yacht as well!!!! Hopefully the weather cooperates with you and your schedule 👍
Built not bought. Your working all the bugs out. Awesome series
2 guesses that your old battery was internally shorted, or stone dead. Fought a dead battery on my Mustang trying to get it fired up with my dad. Noted always take a good battery to the parents house.
I am happy for you! I feel like I am invested in the project.
thats a ford bud hit the switch and instant running, great content Mike
Thanks!
Your what we call a backyard mechanic learn as you go. Great job so far Captain.
And for the p/s pump, it's a good idea to put a screen in the return hose. They're about 5 bucks, similar concept to an AC orifice tube and just get shoved in the hose. There's also one that looks like a small inline fuel filter for about 20 bucks
i love the project you find yourself in, some folks criticize while having no ambition of their own..shame on them!
keep up the good work and, if i had the parts i would do the same ;)
The inertia switch is mounted with the white button pointing up, looks like it's working as expected.
Great video Mike, you accomplished so much in this video, your talent is always coming thru great job, getting closer and closer.just keep doing your thing.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Things are starting to take shape!
I sure wish I were closer to you , I’d take that diesel off your hands.
If you look at a few year newer that water hose ran through that bracket above the alternator with non AC trucks and had a factory oval hole in it, as said the brake lines coiled up if for different movement between cab/chassis from flexible body mounts and torsional flex. That alternator isnt the fire hazard model, the ones notorious for catching fire had 3 big wires that plugged into the case. I use 3G alternators on everything Ford now as they can be had from 80A all way to 300A in the same frame size and connections
Good for you Cap, excited for you.
You're a husband, father and youtube creator.
Somebody's always gonna be fired up at you ;), lol.
Frankenstein is alive😊
That truck looks awesome, the blue and white will be cool, but clean it and clear coat would keep the old work truck look.
The coils in the brake lines make up a flex joint that is it.
Good job. I know it too late now, but on the power steering pump bracket there is a square hole in the upper corner, it is made for a 1/2” drive breaker bar. Use that to tighten the belt. You don’t want to pry on the plastic can. Can’t wait for the next video 👍
Correct, thats why I pry on the housing 👍
You definitely came along way! Congrats!
Captain SWEET!!!! sounds great
Enjoyed watching Captain looking good 👍🏻
ACE ...well done Capt.
That look on your face when it started 😅!!! Congrats and it sounds pretty darn good too 👍👍
To stop fatigue by allowing for movement
VROOM!!💪🤗🇺🇸
Great job Captain!!! Could hear your smile here in Iowa!!! J.R.
Cool frankenRig🤘🏼‼️
The old 460 runs pretty good 👍
Progress baby. 🎉
A good truck
The coils are there to stop the brake lines from fatigue cracking
Great video as always! When it starts for the first time it sure does make you smile.
Happy Easter Mike & family 👍 You’re far cleverer than you probably think you are . If it were me that engine start would be months away. Excellent video as always 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
Extra brake line coils can help with cooling the brake fluid and also help prevent fatigue caused by flex and vibration.
NICE! 1🇺🇲👍
