I have mine mostly by genre, but I'm also a very aesthetic person, so if something just looks off I will move it to somewhere else :D My most organized genres are horror and thriller, but with classics and contemporary etc I sometimes struggle a bit, since some of them might be a mix of two or more different genres and/or the vibes just don't match with the others
I have one rainbow shelf for the aesthetics, but my main shelf is alphabetical by author. I am tempted to reorganize by height though, it always looks so nice when other people do it.
I only have two bookshelves currently, so by size. And currently most of it is double row. In March i'm moving so i plan to have more bookshelves to organize it better =)
By publishing house because the editions are similar😂, then one shelf per genre. And I have two bottom ones for all the unread books. My goal for 2023 is read all I have (non ebook) and not buying until I read those there. I won’t achieve that, I know hahahaha😂
My friends hate me for seperating my series but also alot of them dont even look right together because the publishers said fuck continuity the last book in my favorite sci-fi series is almost a third taller than the rest for no god damn reason. (plus different styles and logo on the spine) It hurts me more seeing them together haha they came out with a version that fits in size and design years later but I am to petty to buy it. Also alot of series the first books ends up being way better and is in my faves shelf next to my bed while the others chill with the rest haha
@@cruelaz yeah I get that especially older series do that like my grandma is getting a series rn and all the books are different sizes it’s super annoying
these kinds of videos are always my favorite. it's so satisfying to see shelves come together and learn how people like to organize their libraries (i go by genre, then size within genre). and what a cool idea to move the chair around for different videos! can't wait to see it.
I organize by genre, and then within genre by author's last name. My shelves are also not "aesthetic" as I own a lot of paperbacks and used books, but I've learned to appreciate it and I decorate the shelves with knick knacks and such, so I think it's cute. ☺️
I really like the idea that you keep your favorites shelves on the same height with your chair so that when people first watch your videos they can see what you like! I subscribe to booktubers most often based on what they read so for me and I bet many others seeing books they like in the background as opposed to "aesthetic" books is a huge draw! Honestly if I had more books I'd organize them by genre but as is I organize them first by color then height then editions... So I have a rainbow shelf and within the rainbow it's organized by height so the books look like they make waves... I find it very pleasing 🌊 Then the same with black-grey-white, and then a shelf full of books that go together because they are the same editions (this is mostly classics). So I'm like the last person to judge a person based on how they organize their shelves because I literally organize by tons of different criteria 😀 I think the pretty thing about your shelves is just how many books you have and just how... Like homey they feel. Like it feels like a real collection of books (which it is, duh) that someone owns and reads as opposed to a bunch of books you bought because they're pretty or because they are classics and "you're supposed to read them". Like, your shelves just look real and unapologetic and I love that for you 💜 I hope you'll start feeling a little better about the clutter in your life, home renovation projects take so much out of a person 💜

It looks great, it's very inspiring and look forward to seeing it evolve:)
Yesss, I love it! Probably the most interesting bookshelves on booktube rn. Loved the song choices too! Didn’t realize how many books you actually have, but I’m so happy that you still have room for more 😍
I know some might mind that the books didn't match in height but I really like the way it turned out because it gives the vibe of an actual library, i mean, even if the asthetic-look makes it pretty I bet is easier to find what you're looking for in this way.
Omg I hope you like the Tamora Pierce Tortall books, though of the ones you have Trickster’s Choice/Queen are not my favorites. If you read the quartets in chronological order (Alanna, Daine/Wild Magic, and Kel/Protector of the Small which I don’t see there), it’s interesting to see how her writing progresses and improves. I really think adding books of the other side of your middle shelf will look amazing and such a gain of space! Really cool you could do that! I personally still am in the process of getting all my books in my small apartment…I sadly don’t have much space to bring them all right now but close enough. I unhauled books by the hundreds (+decade of accumulating) and still have easily over a thousands so you gotta find space or just let them go. I find it way more aesthetically pleasing than books being the same size (I can’t wait to do the same but for now, it’s better for stacking for them to be of similar size and also hard to achieve when you do have lots of books the same size) Anyway congrats! Also how annoying do you find French white paperback spines? I mean for a all while look it’s good but when you have a lot, it quickly gets boring lol those are the ones I’m not really enjoying when I rearrange my shelves…ugh lol

The way that I decide to get rid of a book 1. Did not finish 2. An animal died (in which case I throw it at the wall immediately, pick it up and throw it into the trunk of my car) 3. Will I read it again? Keep. 4. I can't stop thinking about it (in a good way Keep, in a bad way, trunk of car). I arrange my shelves a lot like you have, except I have 2 shelves (and the pile in the corner) of books I haven't yet read - after which they graduate to my shelves. Also, I have a shelf of Dark Academia, and a shelf of Family Tree research books, and a shelf of English, Scottish and Irish History. I am envious of your space . . .
I'm old school - alphabetic! I mix genres, except graphic novels and non-fiction, they're in their own bookcase. And I've separated my read and unread books. Your library has plenty of room to grow, it'll only look better in time! Maybe add some (fake) plants and trinkets in the mean time? But most importantly: where will Emily live?! I didn't spot her just now... #justiceforemily 😉
I love it!!!! I'm planning on doing a library at my place as well, hopefully next year. And I don't have a way to organise my shelves, if the books fit, they stay there 🤣
I feel like I organize mine in a weird way compared to others but it makes sense in my brain. I have them split into two main categories: to be read and already read. I love it!!! I actually know what area you live in (approximately) because my childhood home was exactly this type of townhouse!! What a small world (: it's definitely really cool to see how you've decided to decorate the main room as it's definitely the perfect amount of space for a library, such a big space! Love your videos, long time follower!
I cannot wait to see what you say about Ice Planet Barbarians. I love the series, but if I remember right romance isn't your favorite so I'm curious to hear your thoughts.
Fiction: read and unread are kept apart. I organise by authors last name. Then each authors books are organised by original publication date (unless part of a series, duology, or companion. They follow the first book cause they have to stay together). I also have multiple editions of many books and i organise those by the publication date of the actual edition. Its a lot of work but its the only way it makes sense to me (autism spectrum) Non-fiction: by topic
I’m with you on percentage of unread vs read. I get rid of books that I don’t think I’ll read again once I’ve read it, so my percentage of unread is significantly higher than read books.lol
This was so satisfying to watch! My organization is sort of random. I try by genre and height but it's not perfect. I also think about what will look best in the background of my videos 😂
You should show covers to help fill in space! If it doesn’t bother you then don’t worry but that’s what I do with gaps bc I also sort by genre :) hardcovers are the easier to show off
Hi! This was a really awesome bookshelf reorg! Just throwing in my two cents about Tamora Pierce (i am a super fan, i own almost all of her novels) When i reccommend her i tell people to start with the Protector of the Small or the Beka Cooper series, the Immortals/Lioness series are her first and it shows. I personally love them all deeply, but I feel like Keldary is a MUCH better intro protagonist than Alanna or Diane (but that may just be my Protector of the Small bias showing) XD
I only have two smallish shelves, and I keep read and unread books/series on separate shelves. Like if I'm still reading the series I keep the whole unread series on the same shelf and when I finish the series I move them to the other. I also periodically unhaul books I don't think I'd reread. But I sort by author last name.
I cannot find the video where you recommended Atlas coffee. But I just ordered a subscription for my bf as a christmas gift. Thank you so much for the amazing idea!!!
Amazing!!! As for aesthetics, they’re bookshelves full of books, therefore they’re beautiful! Books really don’t need that much help to look good. I noticed your BotM picks and it reminded me, kinda sucks that we can’t get them in Quebec, do you think it’s because of the “Au Québec c’t’en Français” laws?
The way I do is in steps/block it out. Step 1. Genre/Color/Size 2. Author/Series 3. DNF 1 and 2. (Didn't fit/Didn't finnish) This last part is kinda subjective and really depends on how I feel/personal preference + if I have any space. 1. Library Books 2. TBR 3. Favorites. All organized by the list above unless I have a specific reading order in mind.
Love this new space that you create for yourself. It's a dream library 😍. Congratulations! Can I just ask why do you lay down some books if have so much space now? Thank you. Love your channel
I’m currently sitting at 1330 books, almost 200 audibles and 13 bookshelves. My new year resolution for 2022 was not to purchase any books. 2023 is almost here and a i have 2 carts of books waiting on me to purchase. Over 100 book 😮
I still think it would look really cool if the books in the middle bookshelves who are in the room dont face all the same way. Also they get the most light on their spines so maybe turning around your favorites the other way so the spines dont face the windows would also preserve them. not the pages though haha
Je classe aussi mes livres par genres, mais j'ai une section pêle-mêle pour ma TBR, l'idée est que je dois les lire pour les faire monter de "niveau" 😂
How do you decide what books to stack vs stand? Are you planning on doing anything to the backside of the sci-fi shelves since you can see it? This room looks awesome!
They're the vintage classics! Book Depository has them (bit.ly/3gzbKuN). I love that the inside is the cover design of one of the other book in this collection!
I organize by colour. The different heights do bug me though and the fact that some series have different colour spines so they are separated. It gives me anxiety to have more than 10 unread books on my shelves. How do you feel about unread books on your shelves? ❤
Well. Does "in storaged boxes and piles on the floor and window sills" count as organization? 😅 In between homes and own maybe 2000 bools but no shelves.
1. I prefer to have a sort of organized disorganized set up with my books. I find it more dynamic and interesting. Pristine and/or overly organized bookshelves feel intimidating to me. Like people who live in houses that are so clean and sparse that they might as well be museums... not for me. Haha I LOVE the way you did your shelves! 2. Is it just me or do French books have the worst covers and spines. I don't know who is in charge of cover designs for francophone books but they need to retire LMAO
Ooh, did you read Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse? Thoughts? Maybe it’s in one of your other videos…it was sort of my first foray into that type of book. Is it Fantasy, Sci-Fi? I love your library, nice job!
Oops, should have listened to the rest of your vid before commenting! Sidebar: Have you read any Lois McMaster Bujold? She is old school Sci-Fi, Shards of Honor was my fave ❤
How do you organize your books? Genre, height, color, authors?

Just throwing in my two cents about Tamora Pierce (i am a super fan, i own almost all of her novels)
When i reccommend her i tell people to start with the Protector of the Small or the Beka Cooper series, the Immortals/Lioness series are her first and it shows.
Omg i love it. Ive started to think how to make a library like that on my house. Love u 💕
I organize by genre too! I used to not organize at all and now I have no idea how I ever did that lol
Im not sure but it might be the case. I know they’re working on starting to ship to Quebec though!
This! The first thing I do in any place I live is put my books out. Books are beautiful!
It would be cute to use peel and stick wallpaper on the backs of your shelves!
So excited for you!
This is so satisfying to watch! Love your library🥳
Amazing! My one thing would be that other land is better suited in sci fi than fantasy
This looks so cool!
Perfect is the enemy of good
Absolutely! I just needed them to be on the shelves first. Now I can move them slowly over time!
Love it! ❤️🙂
I loved seeing your bookshelves. What is the absolute favourite book that you own?😊
Je classe aussi mes livres par genres, mais j'ai une section pêle-mêle pour ma TBR, l'idée est que je dois les lire pour les faire monter de "niveau" 😂
How do you decide what books to stack vs stand? Are you planning on doing anything to the backside of the sci-fi shelves since you can see it? This room looks awesome!
Honestly? There’s absolutely no logic behind it. Just vibes Lol
Kayan Kollyn ❤
The great fantasy adventure book by V VN Mangukiya 😊😊😊
My favourite book after Harry Potter 😊😊😊
Waiting for your review ❤❤❤
What are those Jane Austen editions you have? They’re so pretty🥰
Happy Friday Emily hope you have a good weekend xoxo 😘 🍂🍂🧡🍃🍁🧡🍂🦃🧡🍁📖📖📚📙❤️🤎❤️📙📚📖📖📚❤️❤️🤎❤️📙📖📖📚❤️🤎🦃🍂🧡🍁🍃🍃🍁🍂🦃🦃🧡🍁📖📖📙📙❤️❤️🤎🤎❤️📖📖📖🍃🍃🍁🧡🧡
I think our tastes for organizing are very similar lol
Most of my french books are classics so they're especially hideous XD
@@BookswithEmilyFox yeah…. Yes… French classics are the worst offenders 😂
Love that green wall color! What's the color name?
It's Deep Jade by Sico
I’d love to see the stats and tbr of your non fiction books
I used to live with a book seller, so my shelves look like a very very small book store
I organize mine by genre, age range, author and height. I’m a bit cuckoo :/. Have you read the powder mage series?
Ooh, did you read Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse? Thoughts? Maybe it’s in one of your other videos…it was sort of my first foray into that type of book. Is it Fantasy, Sci-Fi? I love your library, nice job!
I liked it (I haven't read book 2 yet!) but it's one of the strangest Fantasy books I've read in a while lol
Oops, should have listened to the rest of your vid before commenting! Sidebar: Have you read any Lois McMaster Bujold? She is old school Sci-Fi, Shards of Honor was my fave ❤
Yes, very strange & yet, I kept reading. I think our library has the 2nd one. Maybe on my TBR for 2023!
Finally, it's happening ❤❤❤...
