I think my favorite moment is when Zoroger(GM) announces that he has the power to stop the destruction, and then launches into a cheesy flat sythn bass line. Which is totally a Moroder move.

To be fair I suspect all TV stations in the 80's had a Time Until Impact Doomsday Clock available to fade up at all times. The cold war was getting pretty hot.
During the Cold War everybody kept an eye on the Doomsday Clock daily.

Most people today have heard of Panos the synthesizer, as his name has been popularized over the centuries and his story has been dramatized in numerous novels, films, and television programs. The powerful synth lord is depicted with many magical powers, including the power of shapeshifting and is well-known in mythology as a tutor and mentor to the legendary Dr. Strange, ultimately guiding him towards becoming the king of Mars. While these general tales are well-known, Panos initial appearances were only somewhat linked to Dr.Strange. It took many decades of adaptations before Panos became the wonder child and legend he is known as today.

I think he grew up and went on to direct Beyond The Black Rainbow, inspired largely by his experiences here.
All I know is that his moves are out of this world.

Like everyone who listens to or makes Synth
After 4 years of this comment lingering unanswered, we finally learn that the creator is called Scott Gairdner.
A couple of years ago, I must've stumbled upon this under the influence of Zoloft, and watched the whole thing half asleep or almost falling asleep. For the longest time I had no recollection of this, up until today when I was shuffling some songs and landed on Vangelis, at which point the vague memory of synth musicians battling a comet rushed into my brain, which I promptly convinced myself was something I'd made up on the spot. Nevertheless, I decided to Google it, found the video, and remembered the circumstances.

I was tripping on mushrooms in highschool and fell asleep to family guy or some shit and woke up to this, I was in such genuine awe of the presentation, and was absolutely convinced I was watching footage from the 80's
Unfortunately the parodied artists are so well documented that it will be pretty clearly labelled as a spoof of the 80s.

I love how they've got a modular Moog, a Jupiter 8, an Oberheim (OB-x?), and an Emulator, but when they get to the final performance it's just a bunch of crappy cheap keyboards spray painted white xD
This has always bothered me so much - particularly Carla Wendos. She'd never play a digital synth.

Ah they jumped the shark just before that with Moroder on the M-Audio Axiom 25! But all the same this was pitch-perfect, and avoided any cheap shots at Carlos.
Obviously these are midi and/or CV controllers that are tapping into the collective power of the lords combined synth collection

Actually, I appreciate this comment, I had heard of Wendy Carlos but I was wondering who the others were. Excited to go give them all a listen! ☺
The three characters were actually very much like that in real life. Vangelis looks like Xangelix. Moroder was more of the funky pop style producer. And Wendy (originally Walter irl) did use patchwork, and in my opinion was neck and neck with Vangelis in talent; she scored The Shining and Tron, genius. OK I'll stop nerding out now

I wouldn't say you need to be into synthesizer/electronic music to find this funny - I had no idea these characters were based on real people until after seeing this video and I still loved the absurdity of the whole thing.

"Xangelix" is a reference to the late, great Vangelis. You may know his work from the Blade Runner soundtrack and Chariots of fire.
"Morgio Zoroger" is a reference to Giorgio Moroder who scored Scarface and basically invented EDM.
"Carla Wendos" is a reference to Wendy Carlos, a hugely important pioneer in the development of electronic music and close friend of Robert Moog. She scored The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, and Tron.

Actually he discovered the afinity of the comet with the sound of the sinthetizers the year before of this record. He practically bought us time, together with Hisao Toyotomi and Delilah Deshire. Sadly the event needed who the comet be very next to Earth for get a definitive effect. At least, they were able to ralentize the comet advance, so this other great event was posible.
This really happened but has been erased from our collective memory.

First time watching, I felt like this stylish live-action short captured my heart instantly. I happen to be a fan of Vangelis, Giorgio Moroder and Wendy Carlos. Plus, I often use synthesizers to create my own music.

I always thought the Zorg triple lowpass RC fliter was inferior. Unless you are doing a very full, open filter type sound with a fast amp attack you are going to hear a lot of clicking.

Ok Rodolpho the Clockmaker's BACKSTORY: he is a Wartime Friend of Captain Correli, he saved his life on the landing of sicily, and he was one of the first African American Clock makers in post war Italy. He helped use clocks to ward off post war italian fascism and stayed to help the Italians train with new American industrial clockmaking machinery given to Italy during teh marshal plan.

Of course Greece being a powerful Nato ally surrounded by the Warsaw pact, this event almost didn't happen as the presidential pod was seen as a threat by the soviets who were allowed to place their own pod for kruschev in kaliningrad

@@dagonvaldez2878 Yes, I didn't bother to see those but I have seen Steve Vai perform with Zappa (and Son of Zappa) on many occasions. I also did see Joe Satriani and Stu Hamm was with him. I never did care for the music that Malmsteen has done but I have to admit it's very virtuostic and quite entertaining to watch.

I know this was all a parody and a tribute to Vangelis, Georgio Moroder and Wendy Carlos. But I would love to see something like this for our contemporary synth artists like Carpenter Brut, Magic Sword and Perturbator.
