I am on Amazon now lol it is my birthday soon and my son wants to get this for me. I am thinking about it because the refills are expensive and I cannot tell how much comes in on refill.
My comment about reading directions was in no way an insult! I made many a mistake after reading the directions many yrs ago. I'm glad you enjoy this machine as you will find many uses for it and find out how to get the most for your $$$. I found your video enjoyable and honest.
I have had one in top of my closet for about 10 years. Got it when my grandson started pre kindergarten, for projects, think my daughter used it to label his things, and I recently took it down, looked it over and not being sure what to do with it, I put it back in closet where it still sits, but tomorrow it will have a new home on my desk!, thanks for showing this! I have some thin word dues like yours and this should be just what I need. Thanks for sharing your video!
I am glad you discovered the Xyron machine. I have the 9 inch one with a 5 inch insert and wish I had gotten the 5” with the 3” insert. But, yes. It is great for die cuts. I also use the 1.5” individual one.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! Ok, this is the BEST tutorial video I’m seen in a long time. That instrument is going to be SOOO helpful. A big THANK YOU for doing this video. Take Care. ~Barbara
I LOVE how excited you are about this because I was WAY excited too when I got mine!!! I use it for anything that I possibly can... I've even used it to create my own wrapping paper! You'll definitely find your own ways over time to maximize the rolls, like you could have put the the "Y" in the middle of the white frame to maximize that piece! It all comes with time! DEFINITELY one of my favorites for crafting! Have fun!
It was one of the very first tools I bought when I began scrapbooking nearly 20 yrs ago! Another great find for those intricate dies is the Elizabeth Craft Design’s double sided sticker sheets where I will stick my paper/cardstock on and then run through the die cut machines. This way, adhesive is applied even before the die cut is created. It’s a game changer!
kdub1314 i have some sticker sheets from Hobby lobby but lost them somewhere in my craft room😂😂was always wondering if the adhesive would get stuck to the cutting dies
I got the same one and a set of the disposable ones from HSN last month. I had the same issue with small dies, my hands shake or I squeezed the glue too hard and a huge blob comes out. I’m glad you showed that trick with the plastic cover sheet!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Definitely useful! I have the large one and the little X (it may be older than my kid! LOL) The little one is a lifesaver but finding refills is a pain for me. One thing I love to use it for is inserting dies upside down if I want to add glitter to the front (easy peasy!) The larger one also comes with magnet and laminating cartridges. They are great, but to clean adhesive off of most papers, a rubber eraser is invaluable! They get rid of most bad glue messes. I highly recommend them!
This is a wonderful tool, I have several refill sizes, I had bought the largest & smallest one. It’s like a piece of heaven on earth for gluing on die cuts & works great with vellum!
My grand-kids love this sticker maker. they make me pull out the sidekick and the small xyron and it's time to make dies and stickers😂 enjoy your new toy. 🙌
I have had a Xyron for years and have always had the residue left behind. I am so happy I came across your channel to see how to properly use it. Thank you very much.
YEAH!! It is time to play. I had totally forgotten had I had a large a Xyron maker for years as well with a few replacement cartridges also, until just now when you made this post Thank You MY SCRAPYARD!
I have the 11/2 inch one that came out about 10 yrs ago! Still works but rolls not as sticky as they were when new! Need to order more! You are right, it’s perfect for words! Enjoy your 5incher, I might get that one! Tyfs 🤗👏🏼👏🏼
OMGOSH...... I LOVE YOU.... You are Super Funny & you do things like me Play & learn that's how I roll!!! I NEVER....READ.... Love how detailed you are in showing & tell everything we need to know. You're So Much Fun to listen to & watch. Keep the videos coming girl you're bringing smiles & laughter's to our days!!! 💖💖💖💯💯💯🤗🤗🤗
I have had the 9” and the 1.5” machines for many years. I prefer the 9” because I like to run sheets of cardstock thru and then die cut. This prevents you having to burnish the diecut and you don’t have the excess glue in the intricate areas (sticky parts in the nooks and crannies). Works fabulously for intricate dies and when you layer diecuts!
It is even easier if you put your card stock thru your sticker maker first and then die cut it. No sticky issues and even less waste because you can use the negative space for other small dies. That is my favorite way of using my sicker maker.
Oh my gosh. Have mine tucked away for years. And had the same reaction when I first tried mine. Don’t know why I stopped using it! I got many of the different inserts when you could still get them at Micheals or JoAnn’s with coupons. I wasn’t even sure if the replacement cartridges were still available! Thanks for making me go digging mine out and rediscovering how useful it is. Yay!
Oh, thank you so much for showing the trick about using the plastic to get off the excess glue! I was ready to never use my Zyron again, because the excess glue ruined my Easter projects. I am anxious to try it your way now! TFS!
So happy for you! I love my xyron too. I have the one you have and the little x. I used to have the 5” but couldn’t resist having the option of 2 sizes, so I gifted the old one to my future daughter in law. I highly recommend getting the little x also, super handy. Don’t forget to use coupons when you need refills because they can be pricey! Enjoy!
I have had Xyron’s for years and love them!!! I just use my finger instead of a bone folder and run around the edges so that the adhesive sticks to the plastic. I have never needed to press down the die cut itself.
One of the things I like best is the fact that the adhesive doesn't show through vellum! I only have the tiny one, but I have used it so much! I love it.
Thank you for this review! I haven’t used mine much because of the sticky residue problem, but now I have several helpful suggestions to deal with it! And I learn much more quickly from videos. 😊
The Xyron machine is awesome. I have both sizes. It's such a great tool. The only thing I don't like is the little buggers, but you can just brush them off. OMG! I had a 3" cartridge and didn't know I how to use it in the machine. Thank you for showing that.
I notice that when Anna Griffin is putting a card together on QVC & the embellishment doesn't need "dimension", she has all embellishments ready to go on a Xyron sheet!! One thing that is probably a personal "annoyance" is her never, ever, giving her faithful followers the "cheat" (if you could call it that). Thank you for your generosity, like so many other crafters who are not so "famous" as Anna in showing how handy a Xyron can be :-). Also appreciated is the time you took in producing & uploading this vlog!!
A little tip for if you put something sticky down using the Xyron, Score tape, tape runners etc and you need to move it and it's down pretty good. Use your heat gun to heat it up section by section and gently lift it up. Most of the time you can set it back down. Sometimes you many need to add more adhesive. This doesn't work with glue only tape or sticky type of adhesives.
I have the 1st one from 20 + years ago. I have purchased I think each size they make. I love all my machines. It does help if you read the directions and only takes a minute to read them, and you might be able to use the tips they give you.
I sincerely appreciate all these sticker making ideas! I've had one of the small "x" sticker makers and haven't used it yet. You've given me the help I needed to give it a try. Thank you all so very much!!!
Been using xyron for years now. Started with the X, then got the 5-inch green creative station, and recently got the dot tape runner. Fantastic product.
I have the small one that shaped like an X, I’ve had it since I started paper crafting about 3 years ago! I know Eny gots one and uses it too! Great buy and TFS!! Crafty hugs ❤️🤗!!
Oh I gotta get the bigger one now! I have the X shaped one but mine is purple and I actually paid only $2 for it on clearance, and got several refills at the same time for $1 each. But like you said, its opening is less than 2" wide so not alot can go thru it. I've actually not used it a lot either because of the sticky gunk that is there when I pull it off!! So that tip with the sticky ball is GREAT. I'm gonna try mine again. It'll be like a new toy again! 😂 TFS! 💕💕
@@Craftpurge yea it was a killer price. My mom found it at walmart and got it immediately lol. I'm grateful for the supplies I have!!. Now I wanna try to get that 5" sooooo bad
I bought the Xyron sticker maker when it first came out and it is still in use. I love coming to RUclips and seeing how others use their craft items, it always amazes me at the inginuity of craft tools and crafty folks.
I started with the little X Xyron and graduated to a 5" one. You can even sticky a small panel then die cut. Easier than an adhesive sheet or wide double-sided tape.
Me too! I have one of the big, old ones, and not too long ago I looked at it and thought "should I get rid of it?" Guess this is the universe's way of telling me "Nope!" LOL!
I have the 9", 5", and 4 of the 1.5" machines! I have been using them for 20 years or more. The sticky is actually on the waxy side and the excess goes onto the clear side. Balling up the clear sheet is the best way to pull up any excess still on your diecut. Just be mindful of which side you are putting down because that is the side that will get sticking (especially in using the 1.5" one). Scrapbooking and card making have become fun again once you find Xyron! Also the cartridges come in prepositional or permanent adhesive for most sizes. Enjoy!!
Oh my goodness! You could be my daughter!! I take it out of the box, figure it out myself, try it out. If it works, I’m happy. Maybe a day/month/week later, I check the instructions that came with it - or watch a RUclips how to - and learn some “new” (to me) tricks. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, Zyron is great. I have several sizes that I’ve used over the years. Super easy too use. Double sided adhesive and running it through your die cut machine is great too!
Awesome video beautiful ❤️ I bought one and its amazing! I found my card stock stuck to the plastic when I balled it up to remove the excess. So I tried balling up a few glue dots and using them the same way was super successful!
Angie Smith someone told me to roll up the sticky plastic with the sticky stuff hiding, so just the regular plastic is exposed then it will grab sticky stuff but not the cardstock
Oh My Gosh! You have just learned about these?! They are awesome, use mine all the time. My Dad bought me the original 9" one, about 25 years ago! Since then, I have gotten three more different sizes....... Enjoy using yours! Although, I use the bone folder on the back of the die cut. Plus, use a tiny embossing tool, to go around the edges, to get rid of the extra "stickies." I think using the wadded up leftovers to get rid of the "stickies," looks practical too.
@@Craftpurge love yoyr review. The embossing tool is a 'pen ' like tool with a round ball on each end. The balls are different sizes that originally were used for vellum work (parchment craft) Hope this gelps
I’m glad I watched this, because I forgot I bought one a year or two ago, and forgot about using it! Just in time for Christmas card making! Thanks! Great job!
I love my xyron! Also wanted to give you a tip for small pieces that I use all the time....when I have something that is hard to glue-I put glue on the back of my hand and dab the thing onto it. Works great!
I have 3 of these machines. The 1.5 inch 5 inch and 9 inch. I've been crafting for 5 years and they last a while. I've never replaced the cartridge, i don't use it every day but it's always so useful for when i need it. Thinking of replacing them with the newer versions tho 🤔 neater look. Thanks for sharing, i get so excited with new toys as well 💕
Hey, Toni! I love the entire line of Xyron products! Nearly every time I see a crafter messing around with liquid glue, I’m literally yelling use a Xyron! I’ve had my various Xyron machines for years! Xyron has greatly evolved over time and improved the quality! Initially, the cartridges were big, expensive and messy with adhesive! You can get Xyron in permanent, repositional and magnetic. The cartridges are easy to change out and work well. HSN always has Xyron on their craft days at great prices. Tuesday, July 16th is a 24-hour craft event. Xyron is usually presented by the awesome Beth Kingston! I love watching her do demonstrations! No telling where she might put something she made sticky! lol. I tend to use the “X” the most and keep it handy whenever I’m crafting. Xyron takes most things the thickness of a nickel or less. It works great on ribbon, foam, cork, buttons, etc. It also is awesome when you want to add glitter. Just put the side you want to sparkle face down and run it through your Xyron. You then want to remove the papers, shake on the glitter, dump off the excess and lightly burnish the glittered surface with your finger. By the way, when you use the clear top paper to remove any unwanted sticky from your item, make sure you’re using the top side of the paper as the other side has adhesive that will transfer onto your sticker. Can you tell I’m a Xyron fan?! lol. I’m so glad you’ve discovered Xyron and are sharing it with everyone! Take care! Toni
I, too, hate the glue oozing out, and then showing when it dries. I have some small Xyrons, and I really like them. I saw a tip somewhere, they said to run a tool over it that has a big ball on the end, and it makes the glue stick better to the paper, and not in the holes in the paper, where you want no glue, especially on intricate dies. This works well for me.
I just got the smalker one it's purple. I have not even taken it out of the box and You just made me thrilled !- Let me check my box for size ? Your right 1.5 I guess for words and smaller items. I do allot of tags but now I will be wanting this size lol Thank You for Sharing !
Love my Xyrons I have the 9 inch 5 inch that takes the 3 inch also and the x ones that are one inch wide had them for many years welcome to the family read the directions lol
Also if you have a detailed die use a stylus to go around the die. It makes sure all of the extra glue stays on the plastic. I use mine on alphabet dies (make my own thicket stickets ).
I have a Xyron...the small 2.5 inch one....had it for years. It is a great tool and does put a no mess adhesive on the back of paper or fabric. ONE caveat: the rolls of tape are pricey. Not too pricey to not have it on hand for special uses, but using it on a regular basis would be expensive. My more economical solution: spray adhesives...there are a variety of them on the market. The downside for some types is that you really need to go outside as you don’t want to breathe the fumes. There are other no-fume & non-aerosols on the market too...the non-aerosols do tend to be wetter than the aerosols. You simply place your die cut face down on some newspaper or other scrap paper and give a light, but thorough spray. Get some tweezers to pick it up off the paper (I wouldn’t leave it drying on the paper, but the aerosol type dries to tack almost instantly)...then apply it to your project. If you have sprayed the die cut well enough, it will adhere securely with no evidence of glue on the front. Another good glue for fine dies: Martha Stewart makes (or used to) an excellent glue pen with a fine point that works very well for fine detail dies, but can also be a bit pricey & doesn’t go a long way. One more: pour liquid glue of your choice into a very fine tip bottle...you can buy super fine tip bottles at craft & art supply stores.😀
Spray adhesive works great for intricate die cuts and just tack it down with a little glue and certain areas used it for years absolutely no problem the xyron machine that looks interesting have to look into getting one of them
The best spray adhesive I found so far is by 3M it is in a gray can and black lid and black lettering it says general purpose 45 all the other kinds I tried do not work as well but the 3M brand is great I hope this helps you in future crafting you can find it at Home Depot or Lowe's
Oh I hope you can help me! I used spray adhesive and it got all over the front of the die. I tried laying it down on paper first before spraying it, and that didn’t work. How do you do it?
I'm sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience first you want to die cut your paper take it out of the die you no longer need your die now take the die cut piece of paper put it onto another piece of paper or newspaper is better it's wider make sure the top part that shows on your card or project is facing down you want to spray only the back part of the die cut that way it adheres to the paper when you flip it over and put it on your project
Just make sure to always take the paper that you just die cut into whatever shape that you take it out of the die and then take the die cut paper top part facing down and always spray the back part you'll do just fine I'm sorry I didn't explain it better for you I hope this helps hun have a great day if you have anymore questions feel free to contact me
I loved your share and your excitement over your new Xyron Machine!! Oh I've been a BIG Xyron fan from the get to...have had their machines from the 9", 5", 3" & the X .and I could not live with my Xyrons!! I only buy the repositionable tho because I am a scrapper and don't like using the permanent!! I am equally excited for you and anyone whose been on the fence about getting a Xyron ...well after watching your video they'll be grabbing Xyrons up BIG time!! You totally gave a Spectacular Presentation and demonstration...I hope Xyron see your Video!!!! Everything you created using your Xyron is Awesome...you so did a Super Incredible Creative job!! Oh I'm a Visual Learner too....Thank goodness for You Tube, QVC crafts back in the day and HSN for visual learning videos and live presentations!! YOU SO ROCK!! Joan Smith
To get those sticky pieces off completely I use the small end of a scoring trace around the image before removing the clear plastic. Works like a charm.
I purchased mine last year when HSN was doing their craft event I got a great deal and the newer ones don't have that plastic on top so less waste...tfs enjoy your new toy!😀😊
I have one of the old ones. Need to pull it back out. If you put a bunch of what you need together, you can have them in a file. Memories of old days. Updated !!! Thanks for sharing and reminder!
You are hilarious 😅. I'm the same way....I don't like reading instructions. I have the small one and didn't get the large one because I assumed it would be a "must read" to operate. Thanks for doing the work for me. Now I can get it too🙌🤗🙌
Thanks for the video! You've reminded me of how great the Xyron machines are to use. I'm into Junk Journals now and this is going to be great to use in a lot of those projects.
Love my xyron! And love that you can have permanent and repositioning adhesive. I do like the new machines. I have old version and there kind of child looking. And love that you can use 2 sizes in one machine now. I have 3 sizes, 3 machines.
I love this machine I’ve had it foreverrrrr 💗 it’s such a great tool that really goes unnoticed with crafters
I bought it off of HSN lmbo they sold me when everyone was into making bday banners etc 🙊
I am on Amazon now lol it is my birthday soon and my son wants to get this for me. I am thinking about it because the refills are expensive and I cannot tell how much comes in on refill.

kdub1314 , what a BRILLIANT idea!!
I SWEAR by Elizabeth Craft tape. Do you think with using that tape there is a need for this or wait to purchase until I use my entire roll? @kdub1314
Craftpurge I ordered some from scrapbook.com because they had a great sale and I haven’t had any problems with it in the die cutter.
I got the same one and a set of the disposable ones from HSN last month. I had the same issue with small dies, my hands shake or I squeezed the glue too hard and a huge blob comes out. I’m glad you showed that trick with the plastic cover sheet!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I have an old one, but your tips make me want to dig it out and try it again. Thanks.
Enjoy!!
I love your demonstration...
T&L's Nana hehe yep ill go to yt if i cant figure it out😂😂
Yes, Zyron is great. I have several sizes that I’ve used over the years. Super easy too use. Double sided adhesive and running it through your die cut machine is great too!
I have the smallest Xyron - love it, didn't know about using the top layer to remove the the inside bits of sticky. Great tip!! Thanks so much.
Sweet I'll give that a go! Thanks lovely xx
I am so glad someone is mentioning this product. I have used Xyrons for years. It’s a must in my craft room and when I go on scrapbooking retreats.
Ok…so I’m late to the party, but just ordered mine! Thanks for sharing this video!!!
Lol, so glad you came across it !. It truly is amazing ❤️
Oh ya, the Xyrons are awesome! total love! I am glad you are enjoying this!
Oh My Gosh! You have just learned about these?! They are awesome, use mine all the time. My Dad bought me the original 9" one, about 25 years ago! Since then, I have gotten three more different sizes....... Enjoy using yours! Although, I use the bone folder on the back of the die cut. Plus, use a tiny embossing tool, to go around the edges, to get rid of the extra "stickies." I think using the wadded up leftovers to get rid of the "stickies," looks practical too.
hahaah right im so out of the loop!! whats a tiny embossing tool??
@@Craftpurge love yoyr review. The embossing tool is a 'pen ' like tool with a round ball on each end. The balls are different sizes that originally were used for vellum work (parchment craft) Hope this gelps
Veronica c perfect yes thank u makes sense!
Thanks for sharing, i get so excited with new toys as well 💕
prettypaperthings i just got the baby one today as well for smaller lrojects
Oh my goodness, I need this! Thanks for sharing!!❤
I love Xyron products! I’ve got them all! Makes things so much simpler! Especially letters and words.
You might try burnishing from the back instead of the front. You can put a little more pressure on it that way. Love your video!!!
I love it. I purchased the larger one. Wonderful tool
I have the X and love it! I didn’t know about doing the ball trick? Great tip! Thanks
Take care! Toni
Toni’s Time ooo love all the ideas and tips thank u so much🤑🤑glitter yassss
I, too, hate the glue oozing out, and then showing when it dries. I have some small Xyrons, and I really like them. I saw a tip somewhere, they said to run a tool over it that has a big ball on the end, and it makes the glue stick better to the paper, and not in the holes in the paper, where you want no glue, especially on intricate dies. This works well for me.
Been using mine for 4 years love it
I just got the smalker one it's purple. I have not even taken it out of the box and You just made me thrilled !- Let me check my box for size ? Your right 1.5 I guess for words and smaller items. I do allot of tags but now I will be wanting this size lol Thank You for Sharing !
Yes, it's a great machine to have. I use the adhesive sheets too. tfs
I've seen these machines a lot, and always said to myself "I don't need that!" Now....I think I do!! Thanks!! 😁
ahaha i only saw it like once and then youtubed some videos and was like lets try this thing lolll
Yes! It is an absolute lifesaver! I have the small one too that is really handy.
i cannot believe i was fighting with wet glue this whole year and a half ahahahah! lifesaver forsure!
Love my Xyrons I have the 9 inch 5 inch that takes the 3 inch also and the x ones that are one inch wide had them for many years welcome to the family read the directions lol
Mary Ellen hahahah ughhhh directionnnsas
Also if you have a detailed die use a stylus to go around the die. It makes sure all of the extra glue stays on the plastic. I use mine on alphabet dies (make my own thicket stickets ).
They make things into stickers! Yep great little machine. I have a small one and large.
Spray adhesive works great for intricate die cuts and just tack it down with a little glue and certain areas used it for years absolutely no problem the xyron machine that looks interesting have to look into getting one of them
Mary Lasere ive never tried spray adhesive 🙌🏻
Joan Smith
I’ve been using these for years, great for ribbon too, especially the thin ribbons
louise carlin great tip thanks so much!!
I rub on the back of the tape, as opposed to the front. If you have glitter or "stuff" on the front, it will move.
To get those sticky pieces off completely I use the small end of a scoring trace around the image before removing the clear plastic. Works like a charm.
I like mine too...I think it is a great little machine I started with the small X one.
I have one that I always forget to use....have had it for years guess I need to drag it out again....thanks for sharing
Judy Evans Parker hehe whip it out again
Just came back from Hobby Lobby w/ my 2.5 inch sticker maker. I have the large Creative station. Also have the very small X. They are great!
Thank you! I have a small one, but thought I had to cut around it. OMG! Tried to catch who you design for. I'm looking for something like that.
Cool machine, I've seen it around, Thanks for tutorial 🤗
Yay... I've had my eye on this & the small X but ive been hesitant... not anymore! THNX
RealLifeRealWife i wanna order the little one too😂😂🙌🏻
Thanks for the video. I was thinking of purchasing a Xyron.
I definitely need that machine because I’m tired of the glue oozing out of the delicate pieces from your diecut. TFS😊💕
yeppp i was fed up ahahhaa
I purchased mine last year when HSN was doing their craft event I got a great deal and the newer ones don't have that plastic on top so less waste...tfs enjoy your new toy!😀😊
You mean the plastic overlay sheet? Oh I need to look that up!
Love my Xyrons...thank you for sharing
